    Autumn (recolored) plants

Yeah like more mushrooms and maybe make the flowers flat and change their texture in leaves I don't think that is possible without changing island pbo's but sounds cool if possible

The Night: It is dark...or rather jet black

NVG problem is not an general bug now is it? At least in the 14Months I've played ArmA I only saw it once or twice happening and that was after a borked installation. For ingame colour settings I actually have my Brightness at MAX (1.5) and my Gamma just above MIN around (0.6-0.7) really gets great shadows

Arma on laptop with Geforce 8600m

try getting some newer drivers could help as I used to be able to play with an 6800go card mobile drivers are not that common to be released by nvidia so go check this site for latest mobile drivers: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com I guess that should help, and you should have at least 256MB of dedicated memory for you card, no shared memory or wathever crap they give some notebook cards

The Night: It is dark...or rather jet black

You can find your ArmA.cfg file in MyDocuments > ArmA and just open it with notepad It could be a game error though, I recall of some entries about this a long time ago, maybe a clean install of the game can do the trick? good luck though!

    quick question regarding guns

And do the others in the vehicles also don't have weapons in their hands? Can you maybe provide a screenshot? and offcourse answer BraTTy's question
  6. Just for the screenshot part: Offcourse then CAN just make an screenshot of what is in their screen at that moment, en place it on the net. Most probably you wont see anything you've not seen earlier The screen might show some bugs they have to fix yet, or might be fixed at an different version than the current team member is using And well, I think they want us to be thrilled when we see a new shot, not just think it is another random one with nothing special And I would probably be able to keep on going if I knew some more about game development and BIS' their Marketing team
  7. You can still suggest everything! But I guess only small additions or maybe tweaks can be made at this stage. So if you have any coming into mind suggest it, but suggestions like: THEY SHOULD USE THEM OMFG WOOT CRY2 ENGINE... well they are a bit to late. Offcourse you can suggest something that would brake a mission and still have it implemented into the game, as long as it is WORTH doing so and spending the time into. BIS also does not want to dissapoint and lose costumers with a BIG delay in the release date. Now most of the stuff in this forum wasn't even usefull if suggested before they started creating ArmA I, just because we have NO idea what it takes to create some stuff and therefor just suggest anything that comes into mind and may not be realistic to create with any deathline, team size and budget in the comming 5 years or so

    Buldozer cursor.

Do you see the dark part where it says "All controls"? Click on that and select "Buldozer controls" then check if H is bound to the cursor
  9. I've just started looking around in visitor and wilbur and the whole island creating process. I had allready sketched some nice countours for an island that could have variaty like Sahrani but would allow for some more strategic places to capture; instead of two big parts of land I choose 3 and instead of having a town a the connecting parts I thought the middle part would be a more logical capture and hold location then just a town. But I would like to know what makes an island a good place to have in ArmA? I'm a pretty casual gamer myself, play some co-op missions every now and then and I really just would like to have some nice looking scenery. But what makes an Island GOOD for big assaults? CTI's? large scale PVP's? or just an interresting coop? I've been checking on google earth for small places that would not be to hard to recreate in ArmA but would also make a great battle space. Most small islands are vulcanic so with a large mountain in the middle and have almost no flat space. Then I stumbled upon this small island and I thought PERFECT: + map it's a simple shape but would something like that make a great useable island? So to summon this up; any hints on what to look for when creating an island? NOTE: I've not yet made anything! and I have not made any real plans for an island so far! I'm just gathering information. I have a LOT to learn before being able to make something decent.

What makes a good "battle space" ?

Thanks for the hints guys! Allready got some help from Opteryx with height map, but I'm going to experiment with al types of heights and fields. I have a lot to learn and even more to experiment with So as I understand from all of the above posts, is that you can have a battle on every type of location? But for example what would make a great Tank battle location? 1. Large areas of flat farm land? 2. Lots of small hills? 3. Combination of the above? and with what type of growth? a. with loads of grass and bushes b. much sand and rocks? c. patches of forrest I'm not really looking for the RIGHT answer, but what would make an OPTIMAL area to fight in with ALL types of units? Maybe even more important, what are wrong decisions to make when creating an island?

    Buldozer cursor.

I meant when Buldozer is started, when in the Buldozer view you can get the ingame menu when pressing F1

    Bridges

Sort of like having a big sign in front of both sides of the bridge: STOP THINKING, JUST MOVE! But that would mean the bridge would actually call some sort of script when near? and is it possible to have something like that only activated when coming from the direction of the road and not from an other side; moving underneath the bridge or flying over the bridge, and offcourse deactivating it when leaving the bridge?

An Alternate Method to Creating Height Maps

can I ask where you got the RGB values for the corresponding heights? I just started trying to get a height map made with Photoshop + Wilbur but I just have no idea where to find height in RGB code
  16. I was thinking about this for quite some time now, when making my own missions I always create my teams to have different roles. So Team Alpha would just be to take down enemy troops Bravo to take out any Armor and support Alpha Charlie could be my Armor team etc What I love to have while playing in Team Alpha is to know how the other teams are doing. So if Bravo starts engaging Armor and is not able to support me. I like to know when Bravo is winning or losing, if Charlie is being called by Bravo and if they are able to support Alpha as well. So some more information and COMMUNICATION between teams, groups, squads, platoons would really add some immersion and make an full scale attack a bit more clear DURING the attack What do you guys think? And if this is allready scriptable in ArmA (on this scale) can you send me the script? :P

Interview with Ondrej Spanel ( Suma )

These probably wont be asked but should be, the community deserve some answers. You have to be kidding right? THESE should be asked because we deserve SOME answers? There are loads of good, interesting questions which could be asked but you want the typical spoiled unsatisfied ones to be answered with the typical answers like plaintiff1 allready showed an example off

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

Thanks that did fix it, but I'm still curious what caused it
  19. paragraphic l

Who would you like to see interviewed?

got my vote. Solus is a great choice There is loads off stuff to say about his upcoming SLX Mod and Suma would also be great! Maybe a progress report on 1.09 and what they have found out with the beta release or stuff like that, maybe even a bit about ArmA II if possible

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

I'm having a strange bug since yesterday I'm messing around with the ATi tray tool but I can not seem to find what is causing this. I did revert everything as far as I know but I keep getting this bug And when I turn off AA in AmA settings I do not even get the normal looking parts. my system: Windows XP Home edition Intel Core2Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz ATi Radeon HD 2900 XT ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard 2Gb DDR2 800MHz RAM GEiL 4-4-4-12 ArmA 1.08 is used here but it also happens in 1.09b Vanilla arma is doing this as well as with every mod I use Anyone an idea what causes this?

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

What I was trying to say was that as long as my FPS stayed stable at 15FPS it all looked pretty smooth, I now have a system which lets me play with 40FPS and also stays stable around that, I almost do not see any difference.

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

ArmA runs fluid @ 15fps on my notebook so that doesn't say anything

    Patching problem

I still have no idea what causes this, and I actually have no idea how to have it install with only 1 processor enabled. And it looks like everyone who has this problem has core2duo processors so I guess that should be the problem.
