  3. First we will further improve the missions, but yeah after that we are going to support mods too. And the ones updating them are ofcourse the mod authors, no one can just update someone else's mod.
  4. It indeed is :) but if you're having issues please let us know. Preferably over at our support page Currently only Sickboy checks or gets notified here and updates the mod to our network. We are working on improvements, first the rest of our team will get access and in a few weeks mod authors can update their own content with some smart tools. The remaining mods will still be updated by our team but should be a lot less after a while. We lacked a bit behind in the last months taking a bit too many projects on our plate, especially Patrick (Sickboy) and noted that this should be our major focus point the coming weeks, quickly getting back on track and keeping up-to-date much better. But although we will be working as hard as we can and time will allow us, if you notice a mod missing or not being updated yet, do notify us here please
  5. Thanks for reporting this Tony, it has been pet peeve for me for a while now so I decided to redesign the games section last weeks, in which I've moved the DLC to the info panel and avoided the collapsible panel. Now it's just a matter of a coder in the team picking it up, although the current weeks are pretty booked we will try to improve on this rather quickly. @Placebo; Thanks for moderating the thread! It's a shame that although JimiEZ wasn't really making his issues clear and using unacceptable language, he is now completely censored and we have no way to figure out what his real issues with the GUI where and how we could improve this. I would pick this up in PM but I can't seem to find his profile either.
  6. Sorry for the late reply. Currently we don't auto-update users on v1.3 as the latest builds (v1.5 and up) removed compatibility with Win XP. If you like to install the newer versions you have to go to our website instead.
  7. I'm not sure if wiki style is going to work, but we do want to give access and eventually full control to the mod creators to allow them to improve on this for their own work. Allowing regular users to change info needs moderating even with a community like ours, but there are smart ways we are considering where we can still allow users to post anything about a mod and link it as external information and other content for example. But that is something we will tackle further down the road, we will first focus on giving the access to publish and update mods to mod creators.
  8. Is it that you only need to be able to see which mods are already in the collection when browsing on the other screens? Or is there something different you like to be improved for the interface to be more user-friendly while handling collections? I think we can rather quickly implement a clearer signal indicating a mod is already in the collection or not.
  9. Glad to hear! :) Most, if not every setting, will have some additional information that explains what it does, it should be displayed on the bottom of the settings area. But we should (& will) definitely improve the visibility of that. I've forwarded your question regarding ACR to Sickboy as I can't recall what the situation with that is and can't try it as it is the only DLC I don't have. :)
  10. The new release should fix this by displaying are your installed mods in the 'Local' section, which shows all mods found in specified folders on your system. Modsets are being relabeled as collections (when containing an actual set of mods) or just referred to as a mod (when it's just one mod to start with). Collections will support drag and drop so you can easily add content to them, but actually indicating which mod is already in the collection, would be a challenge I believe, although no problem in just dragging in the same mod, as it won't duplicate it. Yet I can see it being helpful in some way. Could you please create a ticket on our support page here: http://getsatisfaction.withsix.com & upload the log files (http://getsatisfaction.withsix.com/withsix/topics/where_can_i_find_the_log_files) for us to investigate.
  11. you can indeed just move the folder and change the path inside Play withSIX Hey Ivan, 1. We don't change anything to the game, so yes you can still play the game how you are used to, but PwS has some additional features that could improve your vanilla experience too. 2. Currently (updated build very near that changes this) PwS only checks the one modfolder location you've set in the game settings, so that would either be the games folder or my documents or another new folder you set yourself, but currently we don't support the use of 2 different folders simultaniously. But next week I hope that we already have the new build out with a hugely improved UI that will allow for as many different folders as you need to be used and launched from. 3. Play withSIX is made so that you can always switch and select the mods you want to play with and to launch servers with only the correct mods (if joined from within our tool) so yes you can play on any non-ace server after installing ace with our tool. as long as you don't choose to launch the game with ACE. I hope this clears up some stuff, all else I could say is that you should just try it :) it shouldn't do any harm to your existing experience.
  12. could you please provide some more details on what is it that you do or are trying to do, we haven't heard about it so far to my knowledge.

    KEYS: No action menu

Awesome work here! How would moving between ladders be solved? So you've just climbed one ladder and are between two, one going further up while you can also go back down the ladder you climbed already. That would be possible with the mouse-wheel solution, but not just the spacebar as it would have to prefer one option over the other. Going by intend, so moving forward is the ladder up and moving backwards is down the other one could work but I could also see people falling off buildings because the system didn't kick in. And would it really be necessary to configure all this in visitor, wouldn't this just be solvable per object? I guess the problem is if there is a wall right next to the door or not. Isn't there a code that check's if a unit actually is able to see the target, wall in between or not?
  14. Does either of the options presented here help: http://getsatisfaction.withsix.com/withsix/topics/play_with_six_has_encountered_a_problem_cannot_launch ?
  15. @tremanarch; does this happen when the game is actually running or a bug? @Focher; I am just able to answer #3 here, will inform Sickboy when he's back from holiday about the requests. #3: Around a year ago Gamespy imposed a 500 servers per query limit, so this leaves out A LOT of servers for the ingame server browser, we've found a way around this so you are able to see all dedicated servers. You can use PwS to switch servers while already having arma running (could currently be limited to Arma 2) @afp; I'm not the technical guy of the team, but it will be really difficult to get all the 'local servers' up-to-date in our tool, we query the gamespy list to get passed the above mentioned 500 server limit, this would mean we need to query more often and these servers are more likely to dissapear again after an hour. Besides that, they also are generally less well set-up than dedicated servers and don't provide all the info we would like for the quality of our server browser. We also have to warn players about a more likely bad experience, etc. Now this doesn't mean you can't get people to join your server through Play withSIX though, but for now this is limited to having people in your friends list (includes all withSIX registered communities you are member off) seeing you playing on the server and joining through you. And self promoting the IP adress for others to manually add in the Play withSIX server browser. (above the filters bar)
  16. @Smurf: Added it to our backlog, thanks for the request. But it will be part of a bigger GUI improvement task, so we can actually display it on our entire library of content. @deadlyhabit: I haven not that much experience with SweetFX but I should just work the same as with Steam, and Steam shouldn't give no errors either. Could you please send your logs to our support page.
  17. Sickboy could better comment the other questions. PwS does support dependencies, they are just not displayed. In the info panel you can see all mods that are selected and their dependencies too.
  18. Mods stated as required in repos should appear locked in PwS, as for communities you don't want to have members unload required mods. Not sure if anything changed recently though, haven't seen it in recent change logs. Try adding optional mods to one of your repos to see the difference. Repos could take some time before they are fully initialised, so that could mean why you did not see the drop down arrow immediately.
  19. Thanks for the kind words Masharra and we are glad to hear. We believe to finish adding the remaining funtionalities from SU within a month with improved GUI elements too.

    Automatic Mod Downloading

Be sure to direct UI and usability issues to me and not Sickboy. As a graphical designer I have no theoretical background in software design and am learning while we go. Now the issues with the arrows pointing in the wrong direction is new to me, but will disappear with the improved GUI anyways. Usability is indeed more research than it is preference, and with the limited resources we have we do gather information and feedback on the design decisions. But we have also noticed that most negative feedback we have had so far was due to comfort with known interactions and reluctance to investigate a new design. We are learning from all expressed interactions and improving our vision of the users and their usage. Now we will need some more trial and error, but that is also part of the reason why we are still in a preview stage. Be sure that our intend is to make an awesome tool.
  21. For ow you can use the different fields like server-, mission- & modname to filter out these 2. DayZ is recognized as mod and mission and most if not all wasteland servers have this in their name.
  22. it should be easy in theory; make your free work available and visible for everyone to find. if the original is available for free, while others ask money for it, it should be hard for them to actually make business. at least, this is what I've come up with so far. Working on creating the publishing platform for content creators we have for Play withSIX this thought has haunted me for a while. In the end I believe common sense has the answer, provide it for free and make your work visible so it's easiest to find the free version.
  23. Thanks Myke. Samael must feel really proud with all the positive attention this is getting. To take a little bandwith from your Dropbox let me present you with our mirror: Samael's Table on SIX Network

The all new: Ask a moderator about the forum & rules

Who should I ask to change my profile name. It's a minor aesthetic change, but after all these years I actually would like my nickname to be written correctly. I would like some letters to be uppercase so my nickname looks like this: ParaGraphic L
  25. Hey Samael (& Myke), This is exactly what makes this community so awesome and this should be a part of arma 3's legacy. So I would like to ask for your permission to host this on SIX Networks and have it accessible to everyone via our tools. *We will soon have pages for all the content authors to host and manage their own content and thus will give total control when we have this implemented. This would be a great start for young Samael to host his collection of all future creations he will most certainly be making. Here you go, our mirror: Samael's Table on SIX Network
