The lack of JIP simply means that you play MP by organising a game with a few friends, it does not take 20 people playing Opf online to have a great game, from my own personal experience having a coop game with only a couple of friends is the best online gaming I've ever had, Opf isn't intended for a 40 player fragfest or whatever, if you want to do that type of thing there are other titles around. Opf is intended as a military simulator, sure it's fun as well but it's core is as a combat simulator, play a coop game with a couple of friends, while enroute to your objective sort out your tactics, plan your attack, back each other up once the firefight has started, that IMO greatly surpasses the online experience of any other game

Good to see another convert enjoying the game as it was intended to be enjoyed Well I guess the 1.40 upgrade isn't absolutely necessary if 1.30 runs perfectly for you and you don't wish to play multiplayer, but if you can get it installed it's obviously better to do so If you can post your exact problems we may be able to help, in the meantime have a look in the FAQ http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/ there are a couple of items about config files, here and here I'll move this to troubleshooting as well

There's always this debate about which is the tougher of the two sports, they say things like "American Footballers are soft cos they need all that padding", IMO American Football is a far tougher sport, and the padding/protection is necessary, often during the game a player will be tackled at such speed that he will turn a somersault and land on his back or head etc. IIRC American Football was banned around the turn of the century as too many players were breaking their necks? I may be completely wrong about that, it's just some useless info I seem to recall
