Petition to Bohemia Interactive to start using a real anticheat
Placebo replied to rinsa's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
BTW, if you buy your key from somewhere dodgy that sells the same key to multiple people, it's quite possible that one of the other people buying the same key is the one who cheated and got the key banned, that's not a flaw in Battleye, that's a flaw in the seller ripping people off and the buyer looking for a cheap "bargain", example all people buying from Plati.ru There's a reason we say don't buy from CD Key sellers and there's a reason we refuse to support anyone who does so. It's funny that the people complaining most about Battleye, about these supposed global bans for no reason are people who joined less than 3 months ago and have less than 5 posts usually... Just a slight correction here, you are not forced to use Battleye, it's a voluntary install and you can choose to play on non-Battleye protected servers. -
ArmA II / OA Installation problems

Aha I see, well glad it's sorted now, just remember to patch 1.60 then 1.62 :) -
Operation Arrowhead "Bad Key Given" Error? Fix??
Placebo replied to AggressiveK's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
"Failed to contact key server" = Steam selling the game despite not having CD Keys for the game. I understand Steam now have more CD Keys to distribute and the error has gone away. -

ArmA II / OA Installation problems
Placebo replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
It sounds like a corrupt download you're saying you've tried both manually downloading the files as well as using Sprocket to download them? You can check your files by using Quickpar and this par file, should end up like so: Edit: Here's the OA par Which should end up like so: -
OA "failed to contact key server"
Placebo replied to Gnarkill1129's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
This is resolved as I understand it. It's interesting that the venom is sent our way and not at a retailer who won't show "out of stock"... -
OA "failed to contact key server"
Placebo replied to Gnarkill1129's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Maybe for some people it's a waste of time and the answer is as you wrote, however as we're getting reports from some people that had Steam OA working perfectly fine for months and then yesterday they started to get the same error your answer does not make sense. -
Arma2.exe APPCRASH, ArmA II & OA "stopped working" at launch

If an Intel GPU is all you have then you don't have the minimum requirements to run Arma2. https://store.bistudio.com/arma2#requirements -
OA "failed to contact key server"
Placebo replied to Gnarkill1129's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I searched the support system and see three such reports, in those instances advice handed out is as follows which I'd suggest you try: Please run the Steam application as Administrator: 1. Exit Steam. 2. Right-click on Steam icon. 3. Left-click on "Run As Administrator". 4. If the problem persists, reboot your computer and try the procedure again. If this doesn't work, please try verifying OA's game cache: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335 take a look on Steam's knowledge base concerning this problem: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2204-OPGC-4862 (If the above doesn't work) Please try the procedures listed after "Using an Incompatible Operating System". (If that also doesn't work) take a look on Steam's knowledge base concerning this error, especially router and steam update sections: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2204-OPGC-4862 If that doesn't get you anywhere, try Steam reinstallation: 1. Go to Steam's installation folder. 2. Delete everything there except "steam.exe" and "steamapps" folder. 3. Run "steam.exe" - Steam will reinstall itself automatically. -
Bad serial number given in setup - use this thread for help
Placebo replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Exactly this. Best case you ran a trojan which stole your CD Key, worst case you ran cheats/hacks online and your CD Keys will be permanently banned from all Battleye protected multiplayer servers, either way we have a zero tolerance policy for anyone hacking/cheating so there will be no further support help provided. Well I would suggest you try the following: Disable antivirus Launch steam with Admin permanently ticked uninstall Arma2 and OA reboot Disable antivirus Launch steam ensuring it's as admin Install A2, let it auto update, run once, exit, close steam reboot disable antivirus Launch steam ensuring it's as admin Install OA, let it auto update, run once, exit, close steam reboot Now you should be able to launch Combined Operations If that doesn't work I'd suggest opening a support ticket: https://store.bistudio.com/index.php?option=com_contact&view=contact&id=1&Itemid=50 -
Spam via images is still spam, if you have an opinion to share please use words :)

Err that sounds really dodgy, what was the name of the program you downloaded? Obviously if it was Six Updater or something it should be harmless but you might want to PM me the URL so I can check it out. -

Placebo replied to Placebo's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
No offence but this thread is for discussion of the news not for spamming of youtube videos containing your opinion of the news, write it out the old fashioned way to post it in this thread, otherwise the user video thread in General is your port of call :) -
And now it becomes clear why I closed the thread...

Malicious Scripting Can Transmit Viruses
Placebo replied to thecoolsideofthepillow's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Reporting it directly to us with evidence and files to back up the concerns would seem a more prudent course of action than just posting about it in the forums: Placebo@idea-games.com -

Not really, we need to figure out the best way for everyone involved to integrate the various forums, the DayZ website/forums will stay where they are and primary discussions should be on there because that's the best place suited, maybe similar to how VBS is handled here, a news thread with discussion but any in depth and/or technical discussion should be done on the DayZ forums. Let's keep the personal comments out of this thank you. And if anyone wants to paste a wall of text/code please use the code and spoiler tags.
