Armed Assault is missing quite a few basics

Sort for what? -If you want the servers with lowest latencies, hit the "Ping" word, perhaps twice, don´t know. -If you are looking for many players, hit the "Player" word twice -Servers in alphabetic order: Hit the "Host" word once for A-Z.

Quick Map to show friendlies please

Old problem, old solution: play on servers you know the players. I have to agree that it is hard to accomplish at the moment, because there are many new servers and new folk joining every day to the community, but in two months you will probably know some servers, where the other players learned something called "fire discipline" and "muzzle awareness". Even today, joining a random OFP-public-server can end up in getting shot by a unskilled little kid. Nothing new. The point is: Armed Asault is, as well as Operation Flashpint was, a combat simulation. I know, simulations are way outfashioned nowadays, but remember falcon 4.0, ever became a good jetpilot without checking the large-dimensioned manual? And wow, to get rid of the HUD would be very kewl. Just the inventar, updating when mags are empty. Hehe, in three or four weeks, not a single battlefieldX-fanboy would play ArmA nomore. Yes, I know that this can´t be the way, but funny nontheless!

    Shooting on the Run?

Sorry, I think it´s quite nonsense. If you want to squeeze some bullets out, fast semi-auto fire will do the job. I myself do use semi-auto all the time. Even the little stop accuring when you use the M249/240 is neglectible as long as you only want to send some rounds to the enemy, because if you only shoot short, perhaps some five rounds or so, it takes not very long and before the enemy targets you, you are running again. BTW: shoot and move tactics, for what do you use them? MP?

    Multiplayer potential

The potential of wounderful missions, perfect tactics and great teamwork is in your hand! Make the mission, look for guys which play the game the way you want it to be played, no problem. That far ... There is another factor that limitates: The server itself. Don´t know if anyone who wants to run a 30+ players server needs the "uber-machine from outer space" and because no-one owns something like that, we can´t run such a server. The latencies are way too high, no chance. Taht is really disgusting!

    Arma Red vs Blue

Not his problem if you never saw RvB, neither it is his job to explane it. Had no problems to understand it, was very funny! The russians were funny, it´s a puma!

He cuts one shot into two pieces or more precise,he uses two image files for filesize reasons. You have to merge them with PS or Gimp or wathever if you want to use it as one picture.

Wow, those shots are very good! I´m impatiently waiting for the first well done cutscenes, can´t imagine how nice they will be with the focus-effect.

No English Translation for Editing Guide/Book?

Would like to see the lines where BIS anounced that there would be a editing-guide included in the package. As far es I know, the German E-G was a special deal between publisher Morphicon and Mr Murray, who wrote it. So where is the "English Mr Murray"? Thatswhy, I wonder about the "promise", I thought it was only the idea of Morphicon as the publisher of the German speaking countries.

    Armed Assault videos

Actually? Dunno why I played OFP-coops for years, had plenty of funny situations and nontheless, the atmosphere allways remained. You wont have fun with any game if just one problem finishes the whole atmosphere of, like it seems to be from your point of view. Never played a perfect game, allways had no problem to "stay in the bubble" ...

Know it. But at first, the blured backround allways had some kind of a texture, seemed somehow like crosshatched. And furthermore, the "Kantenpixel" (dunno the right word, the pixels of the soldiers model which are contrasting to the pixels of the background) are a little blurry and I think that this shouldn´t happen, cause there is significant difference of calculating between the two elements. If you do it with photoshop, smooth-edged selection, blur it, the result would look like it does ...

The scenery is breathtaking! It´s one of the coolest things of ArmA that the island has this new streaming-system for the textures, which make it look much better. And yes, Sunset and Sunrise, so wounderfull, i love it! great work BIS! thx guys! Ed: Last one is photoshoped, isn´t it? The outlines are a little blurry, shouldn´t happen ingame, makes me wonder ...

To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

The todays middle-class PC is like 3gig cpu, 1gig ram and somthing like a GF6600/7600. And as we could read, it´s absolutly possible to run the game with a nice look and good fps on such a machine. So why do you think that BIS needs to get blamed? That´s ridiculously. The point that even today, no PC can display OFP on max. settings is just wrong, no other game has such a large landscape, now try to figure out why!

Just what I thought. It allways looks like some guys took the debris away, rebuilding their homes somewhere else. No arty-shell nor a bomb will flatten houses that much. Even for the gameplay it would be tenthousand times better to have ruins which ain´t just a heap of dirt and dust, but have some higher walls, perhaps only particullarily collapsed. And the houses shouldn´t collapse that fast, its neither realistic nor good for the game, cause an abrams could flatten presumably 20-30 houses. I love the game and I respect the work the BIS-guys did, it´s just great and all the people who can´t stop talking about some minor failures should stop it, but this is really important for the gaming experience itself and if the collapsed buildings were larger, giving more cover, beeing more than just dirt, collapsing after taking more damage, it would improve the whole game, as I think!

why is there no depth of field in those pics with sights? In other pictures, everything before the focus and behind it was a little blured, why not in your pics Gart? And do you were aible to put the settings of the anisintrophic filters a little higher? Have nearly the same system and would like to have still nice textures in more distance.
