As much as I love ArmA I find myself getting more frustrated with the warping that occurs on many servers. I appreciate that servers require a powerfull PC to run, and that A LOT of servers out there are running 30 man+ servers on inadequate hardware. But, are there any plans to improve the client prediction? Taking aim on an enemy only to then seem him warp from one place to another is extremely annoying. Some kind of interpolation is definitely needed to help resolve this. Some servers may not be set up correctly and the server software itself may not be perfect, but I really think this needs looking into considering how many people play this game online now.

No. Make it an option. Options are good.
-
Makes no difference anyway. You could load up an M107 with phosperhous ball rounds anyway if you wanted to. All you need in Arma is the option to load up with the type of round you prefer. Or combinations of both maybe. When I was in service, every 5th round in my magazine was a tracer to help aquisition of targets for my squad mates. This is a normal L85 rifle im talking about now. And what about aquistion rounds in the LAW? That would be pretty cool.

I have to agree. The limited number of servers for game are saturated with Evolution. While its good, joining mid game means you have to travel miles across the map just to play and its hard to get a chopper lift from uncooperative players. So I prefer to look for Berzerk servers instead. Berzerk with the ranking system in place would be great.

Pulled the www.armamissions.net link because of a corrupted file. Will fix and reupload.

You can't patch the beta. Install your normal 1.06 U.S version and then run the 1.06 to 1.08 patch.

Another Mirror! European Based. From my website that im just starting up. http://www.armamissions.net/downloa....108.zip Thanks

Noticed this in the ArmA 1.07 changelog: New: Weapons - optics camera can have a different direction than muzzle direction now This could mean we can adjust optical sights in game?
-
Could add a time out? Or maybe a Knackered = True; boolean?

If your using Vegas and Vista, you'll run into problems with Media Center if you use it. It overwrites the MPEG decoder. Well not overwrite, just sets it as the prefered MPEG decoder. Theres a tool from MS that lets you set it back again.

This new feature could have some intresting potential uses. As well as adjusting sight optics to compensate for distance and windage, you could also set up GMPG tripods for later use.

I am a programmer by trade (im at work now lol) but I have not done anything with netcoding or anything like that. But, at an educated guess, implementing a client interpolation/prediction system would reduce the need for the server to send updates so often as the client would be 'filling in the gaps' so to speak. Im wondering if the server uses some kind of peerless transmission for its updates rather than talking to clients directly.

I meant by using some kind of script.

I was a server last night playing a sniper, and quite enjoying myself. It was running a Berzerk Airfield map. I was there for about an hour when someone came on an started spawning random AI and killing people at random too. I think his name was Duck, or Rommel. But, is the way things are going to be? I remember the old days of Counter-Strike where you couldnt find a server without cheats on it.

The ultimate realism
neswrossi replied to operation madman's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The world doesn't need another realism mod. But good luck! -
Yes but you can take the points in any order. In order to make a front line you must force the team to take sectors in order. Otherwise its just chaos.

Some suggestions so far have been good, others are over optimistic. But then this is a wish list. I wish BIS would implment neural integration with my brain.... ok thats taking it too far. Anyway I would like to see -Grass overdraw problems solved (in Zoom) -Better sounds (or I'll just make my own sound pack as I have done for many other games). -An incumbrence system -The return of the Bradley IFV -Better MP client prediction and interpolation (its ok, but could be improved) -MP servers to have proper mission rotations with maps that start when the server does, regardless if there players online. -Javelin to be fixed and working in MP.

You are referring to "the golden setup" as if only one or two people are able to play ArmA properly, because they have a special combination of hardware. I think you'll find many people are able to run ArmA very well - myself and my friends included. It's all down to sufficient hardware, using the right drivers and keeping away from Vista. Back to topic: the pics are awesome! Â @Dsylexci: Are you a beta tester for BIS or something? How come you have screenies of future features/fixes? Im running Vista on an AMD X2 4000, 2gig ram and 7900GS and it runs perfectly.

How effective is it in real life? I saw a video of some guys in Bosnia who shot down an Mi17. I was expecting the chopper to go kaboom but instead it just crash landed with a bit of smoke. I take it its a fragmentation warhead? It seems you can engage targets in ArmA all the way across the map with it.

The top one Gotta love how there is next to nothing left of that tank lol.
-
He has a point about reload tho. You cant reload a M136, neither can you with a stinger. At least not as far as i know. I know the Javelin is bugged and not finished but I have a great video of its demonstration which I'll when im home from work. It shows the missile leaping out of the tube then firing its rocket motor a split second after.

This might be possible to implement with a script. Depending on the amount of items you have (and their weight) you can only Walk, Jog, or Sprint. And if you have too much you stay prone lol.

Agreed. To be perfectly frank, the sounds in ArmA are well, terrible. In some aspects they are ok but for the most part they just suck. No atmosphere. I would love to see the Dynamic Range sound pack for OFP converted to ArmA.
-
I've been building a few missions. In order to create some atmosphere I wanted cars moving around the town I was about to assault. The trouble is, the AI gets too confused and they end up getting their paths mixed up and generally acting like idiots. What I would like to see is an option in the waypoint screen for 'linear' actions. ie, tell the AI to not bother figuring out paths just follow the way point path exactly as it is on the map with no deviation. This would make it easier for things like AI aircraft taxiing and AI vehicles where you want to know exactly how they are going to behave and move.
