I've been building a few missions. In order to create some atmosphere I wanted cars moving around the town I was about to assault. The trouble is, the AI gets too confused and they end up getting their paths mixed up and generally acting like idiots. What I would like to see is an option in the waypoint screen for 'linear' actions. ie, tell the AI to not bother figuring out paths just follow the way point path exactly as it is on the map with no deviation. This would make it easier for things like AI aircraft taxiing and AI vehicles where you want to know exactly how they are going to behave and move.

Hi all Is there any chance someone could post their server config? Im not entirely sure how to get ours configured. Its a dedicated server sat on a 100mb link. So im not sure how to allocated the bandwidth. Also is there a way to have a mission start when you bring up the server? Instead of players having to vote in a map? Is there a way to hard limit the player count?

I wouldnt say it was excellent, but its improved a lot. The whole process of joining a game server is still hit and miss. We need servers to have the ability to have a proper mission rotation.

I was running the server that acid was on. It started off fine then slowly but surely ate all available CPU cycles. It would be good if we could just turn off AI for this mode.

Links seem to time out, anyone got a mirror? I mean file mirror not a shaving mirror or anything :P

You've always been able to use that parameter. Even in OFP. Its how you can make missions with forces that can defect to the other side. Also, you can set civilian/resistance affinity.

I assumed earlier that Idea were a publisher and funded project. I was mistaken. Sorry. Anyway, they've thrown the meat into the lions cage, its just a matter of time.

OK I would like to see. ArmA boxer shorts ArmA line of fine fragrences for men ArmA alarm clock Poster

Im guessing Idea Games (Being the primary source of funding for BIS) will want a fast return on the their investment. That includes using all means of distribution at thier disposal. I doubt they will wait for 505 really. Theres no reason for it, 505 will sell the boxed product (which most people prefer). Take Half Life 2 for example, it was available on Steam in all regiosn months before the retail boxes product (published by Vivendi Universal) was available.

In OFP I started designing a CTI map before I realised it was fruitless as no JiP function would ever be implemented into the game. Anyway, now that ArmA is on the horizon I want to start again. My idea would be taken from Planetside, where all major towns would linked together. In order to take a town, the town linked to it on your side of the front line must be taken first. Then you can proceed to the next town. This would create a front line system with a no mans land where the fighting would mostly take place. A town can be taken by capturing its most important building (town hall / church or whatever). Perhaps then defenses could be put in place. Your sides main base could have AI controlled transportation to get players into the battle quickly. I would automatically transport you to a location of your choice (by using the map). Supplies would be ferried in by AI ship at desginated times of the day so that the war can continue. These are just some rough ideas im firing around. I dislike the idea of player controlled squads. You may as well just play single player if theres lots of AI around. AI is good for scripted tasks but for dynamic battlefields its pretty useless.

Its been slowed down in the videos. Watch the airstrike videos.

Good idea. I didnt like BF2 because of the random nature points were captured. In a real war there would be a methodical order of taking strategic points. They wouldnt go straight for the main objective.

Yeah that link on the front page has only just appeared. Hopefully we'll be able to download it soon.

The sound needs to be modded. It sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Theres plenty of good sounds for Lock On: Modern Air Combat, perhaps one of those will do.

Theres no such thing as region codes on data dvd's

Hmm I've scanned over the posts, its all too much to take in at once really. Some nice ideas. However, I dislike the idea of having a player controlling a squad of AI. Why cant we just have a squad of human players? Use AI for maybe some forms of attack and transportation. Perhaps AI chopper ingress to carry human players to the front line?

Oh yeah.

I dont want anything. I just want a DVD with the game on it. And a manual, possibly, but as I have OFP im pretty sure I can find my way around the game.

I agree. Some kind of update would be nice. I think I would prefer pay to download the game. Im not bothered about all the 'special edition' stuff, its money for old rope at the end of the day. An ISO file will do nicely. To have release dates for all other countries except UK is a bit odd, seeing as its probably one of the biggest markets.

During the golden age of OFP, a friend and I started a project that would allow for a peristant online battle in the hopes that a JiP system would be implemented. Now I can continue the project.

First post alert (Thanks placebo for activating my account). I would love to see more detail about the MP aspects of the game.
