Triggering a trigger or however to get to my goal
noundo replied to OldGrandad's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Have a trigger detecting Resistance, and in the on activation field put res_here=true In the trigger detecting the civ, put in the condition field this AND res_here. Â This trigger should be the one to activate the global chat. Put in the init line of some unit res_here = false. -

And a good job you did!!! IMO though the bandanna guys just look too much like the BIS Spetznatz, and around here the only people I see wearing bandannas are bald guys and rednecks!!
-
Thanks MAdMedic! I was going to post some of those same pictures. Something else is that I don't see any bandannas!
-
Nice units, but how about ditching the bandanna. I really doubt you'd find this type of headgear used by Marines!! Get your cover on Marine!!!

I've felt the same way for over 3 years!!! Same for me.

Check this post discussing the SaveVar command. This sounds like it might be usable for what you are attempting to do.

Try putting an extra move WP between the CYCLE and GETIN and syncing the Switch trigger to it. -
Good one!!!

Could you try putting yoursself (player) as one of the tank crew and see how the tank crew group see's the spawned soldiers (friend or foe)? Another thought would be to have an high ranking object that you temporarily group everyone to (tank crews and spawned troops) so that they are all forced to be friendly. You would only have to gorup them with this object for split second as each unit was created. Can you post the contents of your spawn script? I would be willing to bet 2 smileys that there is something in there messing with the side the spawned troops are assigned to. -

It would be helpful if you detailed how the spawn trigger is working. Â Also, could you do the tank thing with only waypoints? Here is an alternative method of accomplishing what you are trying to do with the tank crews: Create your tank crews, and in their inits put this AssignAsposition tank1 where position could be Driver, Commander, or Gunner and tank1 would be the name of the tank this crew member is supposed to man. Â Make sure the commander, driver and gunner for each tank are grouped together, then create waypoints of HOLD, GETIN, and MOVE for each group. Â Then create a trigger of type SWITCH and sync (F5) it with the HOLD waypoints. Now when the SWITCH trigger is activated, the tank crews will man their tanks, and then move off to the MOVE waypoints positioned where you have the Invisible H's. -
Any news on this project? Weekly keep this thread from getting stale post.

Well, in 1992, before Microsoft realised that it would be nice to have unified drivers, GUIs etc. there was IBM's OS/2. 32Bit, preemptive multitasking, GUI: presentation manager, right-click context menu, etc. Much more stable than Windows 3.x (which tried some kind of multitasking on-top of DOS). Guess who kept OS/2 small... I take it you are blaming MS for IBM's failure to realize what they had with OS/2? 1992 IBM had nothing to fear from 1992 Microsoft. I think OS/2 could have been the OS, but IBM failed in their marketing. IIRC - The IBM marketing at the time seemed to be directed to corporate customers and implied that OS/2 would let your PC function like some kind of mid-range machine. They completely missed the boat.

No, but it was/is unarguably the most successful. Â And whats your point? Well, you seem to talk like Windows exclusively revolutionized computing industry all by itself while they merely just copied other products and were the most successful. No doubt they used ideas from other companies. But why do you think they were more successful with their implementation that say Apple, or the GEM GUI? The real reason MS wrote windows was so they could sell more MICE!!!

Gee, I wonder how many people here actually used computers back in the DOS days. Single app at a time, seperate video, printer, and mouse drivers for EVERY app, EVERY app had it's own and sometimes very strange UI. IMO Windows was and is the single best thing for the wide acceptance of computing technology.
