    SmurfC T72A ERA upgrade "style"

Hi Marijus, actually I understand you better than some origin english speakers I communicate with Rahter busy times at the moment. We started to implement a BMP-T by using a 2-turret Stryker as prototype. So whenever I need some time to relax, I will return to the ERA "style" project. I just discovered, that no actual open source addon includes random numbering, also the tank implementations lack "shell casing ejection" (but implemented in some rifle projets), so I think those may be the next tasks for this project. I recently checked some OFP addons to be used as some kind of model guide, but that may take some some to implement. I wish that someone else might do this job, using the ERA "style". Thanks and Best Regards, mike

Marius: Thanks, I give it a try... two tries, to be honest: Mateck showed me a complete concept, how to integrate a number of user-based skins into a mission. This requires moderate editing skills, you will see in the attached mission. My alternative is a simple concept, you only need to place a single skin into the reskin folder of your mission (only one user reskin available). Both versions to your duty. Feedback very welcome Concept 1: Concept 2: Link Concept 1 Link Concept 2

Seems to me that the x-y size of at least one texture is incorrect (might be noticeable by save as TGA and compare the files size, using the original skins in TGA format). Alternatively paste your modifications into the original skins using the TGA format and save the .paa to your missions directory's reskin dir. I donno weather this works in buldozer, because the CFGmodel section hides the faces using a hiddensection. Better way is to use the 1D version in O2 and copy the textures to your mission directory. Ups, just noticed that the armed-assault.de hosts the least before version (pir_smurfc_era_custom_soundmod_rel.rar). The rapidshare one is the latest version (pir_smurfc_era_custom_soundmod_rel2.rar: added init for the textures, raised custom skin support to 3 skins and added users reskin folder to the missions directory). @ATRF: Did you use the rapidshare-version, oder the assault.de one? Using the assault.de one misses the init for the textures, might be the root cause for your ghost-tank

Puh... nice Pic... I tried it with and without ext_eventhandlers. Did you try this using a blank (no skins-included) mission? This happens when no skin is available within the mission (default is set to custom skin#1 enabled, for easier integration), because the re-skinned sections are set to hiddenSelections. The user-skins should make them visible again. When the same thing happens using the provided mission, I recon it as an issue You may also use it as perfect next generation stealth As far, as I know, a photoshop plugin is included in kegetys' tools. I use texView2 from the BI Editing Tool Suite plus Paint.NET. Either ways should provide you with jpgs.. @Burns: Thanks @Marijus: Megaupload better alternative for you? But others have issues with that provider @all: Just noticed that hamis soundMod is not included in the demo mission I recon everyone to use "soundmodT72ERA1CUST" in the mission.sqf. The enginesound provided is perfect Thx to hamis and please forgive me

Another update: Support for mission based skins included (as Mateck described): Danger: Rather untested feature (MP), may be some issues pop up. Rapidshare DL-Link
  6. I have just implemented the feature and it works without pbo'ing the .paa files (works in the user mission folder). I will release the addon after a few test and have informed Mateck :edit: Mateck contacted me and told the not to use mission based data in an addon. But I do not know why? I access the mission based skins via <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> case "cust" : { _tex setObjectTexture [0,"reskin\t72_1_co.paa"]; _tex setObjectTexture [1,"reskin\t72_2_co.paa"]; _tex setObjectTexture [2,"reskin\t72_3_co.paa"]; }; Which gives me access to the missions reskin folder. Are there any commands, which might shift the access positions, so this script might end up in an error? btw.: Addon available in this thread Any comment welcome
  7. I just wondered, weather Matecks skin invention can be used to support custom skins within the missions pbo. Using his code sample it should also be possible to access textures, located in the mission. Or am I wrong about that?

Is the ArmorStructural value changed in BIS (or > 2.0)? According to the info from CAVS, this must be the only way to survive a direct RPG hit. And if yes... may be it is the way to give the cargo a last chance to pop out of the vehicle, before it explodes (and the bradley carries cargo too). At least, some things may rely on the fact that ArmA is a game and not reality.

I have been informed, that a reskin package is available at Denny Piranhas page linked in the first post of this thread. So all skin variants should be usable at the same time Thanks to Stavanger, Marijus, Gedis and (A.T.R.F.) Concerning modifications to the model: I decided to leave the model as it is right now. Thus no further error reports have popped up, I wil include the model plus BMP-2 in a binarized package at the end of this week (including BIS-style skin ERA). Everybody is invited to modify the addon regarding the infos Gedis / Marijus / Hamis and all the others posted, or alternative ways. Intention of this project was to provide a bluepint open-source to the community. I think this goal is reached. Thanks to everyone involved and have fun, modEmMaik p.s.: To all those people, that released a modified version (e.g. Hamis, alpha125rbf): Keep up your work. It makes a hel lot of fun driving around in your own tank

    Make Not Available error

I encountered the same problems. The only solution I found was to generate a bin version using BinPBO once, including the actual TGA files. This seems to have updated my paa-files oder the p3d... I dunno After completion, I was able to pack the whole thing again, using Keygetys tools without the source TGA files. Weird effect

    Sample T72 model - turret isn't rotating

Hi Groch, check this it is unbin and includes standard skeleton / cfgModels. I think your moving turret problem is connected with missing skeleton / cfgModels. Take care that the model is named as your p3d. Feel free to reuse what ever you want BR, mike

I noticed that this feature is not even included in the BI BMP-2 model. May be it is already fixed in Mechastalin + GranQ's BMD-1 btw.: The ERA plates are looking damn cool. Well done

    SmurfC T72A ERA upgrade "style"

@hamis: Well done @Marijus: Yeah, now I see that the panels are oversized. Resizing should not be a problem, but needs some time (each panel must be rotated to match x-y axis and resized. I think -33 degrees horizontal and each panel +20 degrees per panel from left to the right). Does any one know an easier way for resizing, e.g. using the projection window for such things? @(A.T.R.F.): I noticed that Matecks M1A1 HA will have the feature to add mission based skins (posted on June 07 2008,13:30). May be I will get the option to integrate this into the tank model. This way we would get many different skins

Time to release the latest version for the next days: RC 1D Download Link -Added the 4'th ERA plate -Removed most of the mentioned bugs (should be ArmA.RPT friendy now). -Added BI-Style Not included: Hamis new sounds and Denny Piranha's reskins (Sorry folks, but I ran out of time... Have sent request to Denny. I hope he will release it soon) @A.T.R.F: Feel free to add every camo you want. Addon is fully readable / modifyable. At the moment, my plans are to include an alternative woodland skin plus BMP-2 for crCTI matches @smurfclan.org plus some tweaking of our crCTI-version. So at the moment I do not plan to release additional skins, but I know that some other people generate great skins

Congrats hamis In the meantime, I was able to address the "Error while trying to generate ST for points" warning using this thread. Linker Split, you are the men I will include the changes in the next rc (changes in the model only).

    SmurfC T72A ERA upgrade "style"

Short WIP Info (this time it's a 40kb pic): @alpha125rbf: All releases until now are unbinarized, because it's intention is to be modified by anyone who wants to. So simply remove the fuel tanks from the LOD's, geometry and shadow LOD's and release it. @hamis: I have never performed a sound modification before. I would be pleased if you can handle the needed modifications plus release. The config ist standard-BIS definition, so I guess it should be easy to adopt (although I am not sure ). Today is my last vacation day, so I will not be able to handle additional changes / tests for the next days... @burns: The pic is ... absolutely... I LOVE IT Thanks you all for your effort and comments I am sorry to say, that "Error while trying to generate ST for points" seem to have increased a lot more than I thought This will increase the size of your arma.RPT while using the addon. Sorry about this I hardly have any idea, where this error message belongs to. Can anybody help me?

    SmurfC T72A ERA upgrade "style"

@Manzilla: I hope that we will manage a compilation soon (or alternatives) I think, the digital camo matches the new tropic island pretty good First comment about this was posted by burns in a german forum @A.T.R.F.: I have seen some digital camos in alternative games (CoD4 etc.). @Marijus: Weak spot of this addon is the back / sides of the tank. When normal M1 flank, they should get a much bigger chance (but to be honest, usually the T-72's should try to flank the M1's... in reality) Also the PzF 3 gives the infantry a good weapon against this ERA tank.

    SmurfC T72A ERA upgrade "style"

Thx @ all I will see, if I find the time to modify the ERA plates to match the T-72B config. But everybody is invited to modify the model. I created this model as some kind of blueprint for the community and as a simple alternative to start modding by applying simple modifications to an existing addon. Besides the ERA modification, additional sounds would be nice (like VenoM187 & piranha-dl), additional skins etc etc. Simply add this to the addon and release it. @Marijus: Well, most people think that the armor is too heavy, but my intention was to create a match to the standard M1A1, where Matecks M1A1 HA blows it into peaces Well... no bug reports lately... seems that the issues got sorted out. Thanks to all (in special Gedis and T_bone) Just Got lastest News (post on on behalf of Denny Piranha): Famos Denny Piranha added a Skin. Beeautifull Denny Piranha's ArmA Page I don't know, weather those pics match the forums rules, so please remove them at violation: http://www.denny-piranha.com/img%20T72%20Era/1.jpg http://www.denny-piranha.com/img%20T72%20DigiWL/1.jpg

    SmurfC T72A ERA upgrade "style"

Well, most of my testers are inactive / on vacation, but I got managed to do a quick test yesterday. That's why I release a "improved" version (rc 1b). It is not very well tested, but I have taken care that the changes are minor. DL-Link in the first post updated @Gedis: Looking forward to see your T-72 version. Feel free to use my model, if you need someting @all: This is intended to be KISS-version model (Keep It Simple and Stupid). Anybody is invited to modify / remove / add anything you like to this addon. But the first goal is to remove the bugs from the existing version. So thank you all for issue / bug reports. As already mentioned, I plan to create a 2 skin version for smurfclans.org crCTI. I will include a standard BI skin in this version, too. I noticed that Mateck's M1A1 (HA) soon gets the option to add mission based skins. Would be nice, if anybody adapts this feature for the T-72A ERA upgrade "style". Well, last day of my vacation.... :edit: Forgot the credits... shame on me :edit: Just noticed that the searchlight shadow was missplaced. Just fixed this (minor change) and updated the download.

He, those are the pics, I was looking for @Gedis: Have you posted a link to those pics, some weeks ago? Feel free to add the missing blocks, when the next RC is released. I will check for it, when I find some additional minutes @Big: I will wait for more issue reports, before I release the next rc-Version, thanks. @all: This is a result of 3 days work (while it was raining here), so I think that some more issues will pop up :edit: @Gedis: I missed one picture showing the left side ERA... 4 plates. I missed this one But this needs some additional work. I will release the 3 plates on the left first. 4 plates will be released in a bigger package including 2 types of woodland skins plus BMP-2 and may be the skined shilka

Ah yeah... My development computer is an old Athlon XP using a Radeon x1650. Thus my default settings are shadows off ... most times But thanks a lot, I hope I find a way to fix this I have already discovered, that the tube on back of the tank seems to jump a bit in the different LOD's and the box on the left side is missing in the geometry... Well, that's why I call it "release candidate".. :edit: Fixed the issue. Thanks

    Desert Bradley

I was a bit puzzled to see the commanders view working in vibi package and rather disabled using the desert bradley on my pc I checked the config and found it matches the vibi config exactly... So I checked the alternative commander turrets config and found this one working on my pc: does anybody else see this effect? Next I have tried to add working dampers using the older vibis m2a2. Should be easy to convert, but it needs minor changes in the model. The included model is binarized, so I cannot test it. If you are interested, PM me. cu, mike
