    The Great Battle

also: i had no problems with ppl stealing my chopper while reloading (even i disembard to test re-arming), but i was (twice) only able to rearm ffar and gun - not the hellfires
  2. isnt it nice from BIS that they give us a reason to play the campaign again after a following patch?

Maybe a small hint: the hellfires seem to find targets better when fired from rather low height and when speed isn't too high. But i think there is a bug, because i noticed that from similar positions sometimes the hellfires hit perfectly and sometimes they go somewhere that isn't even within the general range of the target.
  4. i had to think for the mission as well, but the soultion isn't that complicated: 1. Tell 'em to hold fire 2. sniper gets a spot "left" so he faces the garage 3. i myself get into position so i can guard the radio all time 4 the saboteur needs to lay down on the street - this is important, cause he will most probably kill anybody trying to leave the base an is in excellent position if someone tries to drive a ural outside. i tell 'em to fire when i have the chance to kill 3 guard+officer myself - then i just guard the radio and wait until it's quite+ a short time. Then i enter the base and maybe kill 1-2 guard my mates didnt see and tell the saboteur to place the satchels.

well i read a bit in th chopper threat. I understand all that technical mumbo jumbo, but from what i understand the easy flying in ofp was more realistic then this ground afficination in ArmA.

    Info for Multiplayer Newbies

in OFP CTI-Team Torunament we learned that Ping is relative. If Players from Europe with good connections go on NA Servers they usually will have a ~200 ping and vice versa - that isn't really a problem. Connection from East Asia (China/Japan) to Europe are often problematic. The connection from Asia to NA is much better. We didn't have a clan from Australia, but i guess it could be same as east Asia. When we assume that players have the standard 1MB/256KB DSL Connection or better, the most important faktor is the capability of the hosting server. On the other hand your personal connection to the servers plays a role too: Once i (Hamburg, Germany 2MB DSL) tried to play a match on a chinese server with someone from Gothenburg, Sweden, who has a much better connection (100MB or something). He had lag and finally lost connection, while i could play pretty well. Any arguments on connection quality and stability which are purely based on ping are ignorant of the reality. In OFP we had the Bandwidth stat in the "p" menu - i haven't found that in ArmA yet. BW is by far more important than Ping. If the BW is <20 someone will most probably lag.

    CTI in ArmA

Yesterday i tried a solo BIS CTI run: I grabbed a M1 and went into the nearest town (with a flag) an killed the res..eh royals. Shortly later the paratroopers cam (as described above). Later the convoy came. All the time there were some minimalistic tries of the royals to recapture the town - that were easily encountered. In the meantime i ordered myself 2 armored units (no choices there) and send them to other towns, but they ran out of gas a few meters away from base. A short time after the truck came the game ended and told me that my side won - i don't know why exactly. My guess is that the royals found and seize the unoccupied nmy base. I didn't found an option to use ai, so i assume it doenst work for solo games.
  8. Is their already a release date? Does anybody know if WRP Tool /WRP Edit will be be updated?

i don't like that mission. First the convoy flies that slow, that it takes ages to reach the destination. Than you 'd have the chance to kill tanks before they get near the landing zone, but no if you leave formation to actually ensure a save landing for the troops, you are being called a deserter and have to start again. That's plain stupid - what is an escort supposed to do? kill threats for the escorted object, or? I tried many times, but it seems to be impossible to kill those tanks before they overrun our infantry, especially since the steering of the chopper is as it is now.
  10. I didn't mean that it was exactly parallel, but implied that if the south vietnamese had killed (just 1) US squad, because they found out something bad - i doubnt we would know about it.
  11. since i didn't rtfm carefully, i didn' know how to switch team and did the mission only with the initial squad (the squad being only me for the last steps...yes it took a while). i was a bit disapointed as well, but i do see the red line: Also before the news coverage described the situation a bit different than it was from your own soldier perspective. And i really like the Anti-War, not purely pro-one sided attitude BIS always introduce in their campaigns. This IS realistic! Just imagine the situation to be real...Do you believe that any US government would admit that their ally betrayed them? That they fought a war for the wrong reasons? The best paralell example of history is Vietnam: Was the regime, that supported by the US (Diệm and his Family...) democratically elected and worth being fought for? Nope! Did they do bad stuff? Absolutly sure (like other regimes supported by the US in Niceragua, Guatemala, Chile, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq (...). That doesnt make the north (in our case) look better. But i guess BIS did that for a reason. BIS games are not about heros to make a world better, but about soldiers who have to obay their superiors - who in the end don't wear uniforms, and maybe follow concepts that vary from what they tell to their people. Thanks to BIS for depicting the real world. Anyway - i was anyway a bit disappointed, too, that the campaign did not last longer.

    Dolores Sidemission 2

i didnt't find that ammo either, though i was checking the pickup several times - on the other hand all ammo crates and vehicles seem a bit too position-sensitive when considered to give options of usage.

    a little help please?

My solution (works well with 2-3 saves at critical points..): go uphill, crawl to the shilka and place satchel, crawl back uphill. There is a place with a bush (little bit of sight cover) from where you can can just target the most left tanks and the other 1+shilka. Target shoot, reload, target, shoot, reload, target shoot (fast!!!, hit the dirt...crawl a bit uphill, run, run, run! (edit: you can blow up that stachel by time, or later before/while running) imho your are not supposed to use the rifle at all - that just will make you a target. ps: if that was a real mission and me being a real soldier, i'd tell my superiors to give me a f* silenced weapon, before going there!

Shooting training course, bug or not?

the mentioned "long time no targets seen" seems to be a bug" - i had this a few times on the first stand:after a while i realized that targets do appear on the other shooting lanes, which doesn't seem to be intended to me.
