  1. Alright guys, this is the problem that I have and here's the relevant hardware specifications: I have a Pentium 4 @ 2.11 GHZ 1 GB of RAM 256 MB Radeon 9600 PRO Atlantis Linksys Wireless USB Dongle Linksys Wireless Router Logitech G5 Laser Mouse When I am playing often times I will play for about 30 minutes to an hour and suddenly I will get a "no message received for" simultaneously with a total loss of mouse control on my g5 mouse. I have another mouse plugged into my computer as a backup and that one will work but when I get out of the game I won't be able to get into the internet without a complete system restart. Sometimes if I am lucky I will be able to play ArmA for a couple of hours without this damned problem happening. What do you think the problem is? I think it's the Linksys USB Dongle's fault, and I already have a replacement PCI wireless card ordered. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance as it is greatly appreciated in the remedy of this highly annoying bug. matthewjdenn@gmail.com

Blood, sweat and tears (1st single msn)

When they attack the town in this mission, the infantry coming in from the sea on the far side (not the side that you start at) usually gets slaughtered. There are like 2-4 dead on the beaches for no apparent reason. I usually grab a whole bunch of extra grenades from the M113 that you get out of and huck two of them at the houses to soften up the infantry. Then once I actually manage to get to the first houses I get on the second story and support the advancing infantry, which always gets to the middle of the town and is promptly slaughtered by the two waiting BRDM vehicles with the tires. I always am able to take out the BRDM's tires with my M4 to disable them and then the disembarking gunners and drivers are easy pickings, but by that time everyone on the whole squad that advanced into the town is dead. So then I usually kneel in the second story of a house in the middle of the town knocking off guys, but too afraid to leave the house because my whole squad is dead and all the M113s are dead so I have no support whatsoever and am surrounded by enemy infantry. I think the trick is to take out the BRDMs before the infantry advances to the middle of the town, then they have a better chance of engaging the drivers and the gunners. The trouble is that they are in the middle of the town and it's dangerous to advance that rapidly.

Should i upgrade to ati radeon x 1650 pro 512 mb?

Hey guys, thanks for your input and suggestions. I really appreciate it. Armed Assault is SO graphically intensive, and I really want to get it running as best as is possible with a 5 year old Cyberpower rig that has already been gutted several times over to replace cheap and inadequate parts. (I.E. the power supply was totally caked with dust and I replaced it with a nice Thermaltake.) Anyway, my video card has a AGP 8X interface, so I am limited to that interface when I am buying a graphics card. I think that the 512 MB ATI Radeon X1650PRO looks like a pretty decent budget card. Hopefully it will improve my horrible frame rate. P.S.-Do the 1.05 and 1.08 updates help increase performance?
  4. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro w/ 256 MB of memory with a Sempron 2800+ overclocked to 2.14 GHZ. I think my processor is fast enough to play Armed Assault decently, but my video card is at fault. What do you guys think about the ATI Radeon X 1650 Pro 512 MB DDR2? I think that it will fit in my AGP slot but I am not sure. I really need a boost in my framerate. It's so slow!

    Operation Flashpoint Extreme Crash

When I turned off the sound acceleration this actually helped quite a bit with the Operation Flashpoint: Resistance crashing. Thanks for the pointer!

    Operation Flashpoint Extreme Crash

I have had this EXACT same problem, however it only happens with Operation Flashpoint Resistance for me. The EXACT same symptoms. Can anyone tell me exactly which hardware acceleration settings I should switch? This is a crippling glitch!

    ofp question

on my pc, Arma runs at low settings. so i prefer to play with ofp. Yeah that's the same way for me. I still play OFP alot because I love it but also because Armed Assault barely works on my PC. It only works on the lowest settings and the framerate pretty much sucks ass.
  8. Oh yeah and another thing. Am I the only one that gets highly annoyed when, oh, say you're in a building like that one mission where you have to hold the town against American armor and your building gets destroyed by a M1A1 or M60 round bombardment and you're like trapped in there on the second floor sometimes making "wheeew wheeeew" noises while crawling around in the attic in vain as you're trying to escape your claustrophobic predicament?
  9. I think that the physical proportions suggestion is very interesting. But as for the physical abilities, what do you think every schmuck that knows how to jimmy the system will do? They'll abuse it. I wouldn't. You wouldn't. The physical skeletal proportions and the weight, height, build etc would be very interesting and add individuality. I think that they need to integrate the face editor into the game better. I really like that function but I can never get my face into the game right. It looks warped every time.
  10. Also a melee function would be interesting. Â I think that 99.99 % of the time you wouldn't use it but it would make it more realistic. Â The trench recommendation absolutely must be introduced though for OFP2. Â That will add a new dynamic to the game.
  11. This is one of the most important aspects of infantry combat. Agree 110% Â This is currently possible, with a little homework. Capitals rarely get anything done quicker. BIS has been inundated with this request already. It has already been implemented in the military convoy trainers. If it hasn't been deemed top secret and military only we might see it. Once again, this is currently possible. There are rumours that the issue of 'clipping' will be resolved in Armed Assault. Cross your fingers. AIs should do this automatically. I actually have been able to use the custom faces thing, but it always looks so contorted and bizarre that I gave up on the custom faces thing. The interface and method whereby you can upload a custom face definitely needs to be improved and integrated into the game better.
  12. I think that Marek Å paněl and Ondrej, you could implement the following improvements in Operation Flashpoint 2: 1) Allow players to dig one man or two man fighting positions. 2) Allow for weapon handling which is just a TAD more realistic. (I know that this is a tactical simulator, and I like the realism in the gun wobble while moving, but I can hold a machine pistol like the Skorpion or the Tokarev in real life relatively steady while trotting or walking rapidly at the very least. I think that the pistol modeling while on the move should be a little more realistic, however still retain the aspects of realism. 3) Allow the custom faces in single player mode. 4) The "Medic, Position DE46 or Need Ammo, Position FC34" commands never really do anything. I think that if there is a medic in formation and you give that command he should come to you or your wounded buddies and be able to heal them. 5) You should be ABLE TO SHOOT OUT VEHICLES! I know that the BMP was designed for this, and you should definitely be able to shoot out of the back of the URAL, the JEEPS, etcetera. 6) It might be beneficial to have the grenades explode on a timed fuse like in real life instead of on contact with the ground. 7) Also, many times I have been in a crouching position and trying to throw grenades through the windows of buildings and I cannot because they hit the wall in front of me and explode even though I am aiming directly out the window. 8) Players should be able to issue commands to their units to "hug the ridges". Like if you have your formation in a line formation or a vee formation and you get to a crest or a area of cover and you want them to hug the ridge or crest of the hill and not go over it and expose themselves to fire because the A.I. is stupid. I always work around it by just telling the infantry exactly where I want them to go if I get in this type of a situation by ordering each individual unit to a position on the map but that gets tedious sometimes. I will try to post any other suggestions I have. Thanks for your great work again and the creation of this awesome tactical shooter!
  13. This is driving me NUTS! I have been playing this game ever since the demo came out and I finally got Operation Flashpoint Resistance (Marek Spanel (and all other OFP programmers and developers; I must say first of all before I go on with my rant that your game is truly a gem and I am a lifelong OFP fan.) I am not going to uninstall the game like many and just give up. I have played this for years and it is my favorite game so please help me out with this one. I have a Radeon 9600 256MB with ATI HYDRAVISION and the Catalyst Control Center thingy. My CPU is a neural net processor... seriously it's an Athlon 2600+ and I have 512 MB of memory. I used to play this just fine but I have had a problem in the Counterattack mission of Resistance where I will try to plant mines after I have dispersed my armor formations into defensive positions and the game will have a catastrophic failure. It will completely turn the computer off. This only happens with OFP. It is driving me INSANE. I have tried to turn the Hardware Acceleration down from full, nothing happens and it doesn't help. I try to reduce the resolution down to 1024x768x32 (I usually have it at something like the next step up resolution wise.) This doesn't really help. I am also using the Microsoft Internet Keyboard and sometimes I will walk forward and it will beep and make all sorts of retarded noises and won't let me do anything but use the mouse buttons; like the keyboard is possessed and keeps on running stuck in a particular direction. I also have an Apple USB keyboard that I use sometimes and I don't usually encounter that particular problem with that. (Driver issue?) Sometimes when the computer starts back up I will get an error message that says the computer has recovered from a serious error.
