Well, first off, most countries on that list went into it to have the visa requirements lifted by the US. That didn't happen, so almost everyone withdrew their more or less symbolic contributions to the war. For example the ukraine has around 500 000 soldiers and they sent less then 2000, how serious is that commitment? Another thing is that the USA was the leader of this whole thing, the US military was the one who decided that it's better to disolve the iraqi military, effectively making them all go home with their AKs and RPGs that they are now selling to militias/using themselves. Another stupid manouver was not securing the borders, eventhough the british said it would be wise to do so. Totally disolving Saddams established control network wasn't too bright either and don't you dare bring up the immorality of said network with stuff like haditha/abu ghraib being done by US soldiers, that's saddams tactics right there. So the fault for this whole thing rests at the feet of the USA. And not just simply the Bush administration either, cause they are simply representatives of the people, they do what the majority of the people want, that's what a democracy means - just incase you guys forgot among all the fascist legislation like the "violence against women" and "patriot" acts (oh what pretty names).

Hey, hey. Don't drag "the world" into this. The USA went in there practically alone, with the brits just tagging along. The US can't just simply pull out of Iraq, it's like knocking up a girl and then leaving town in a hurry. Oh no you don't! You take care of the mess you've made mister... :/ So go out there! Buy your new wife (the iraqi government) some new fancy weapons, and educate the baby that is the iraqi populace until they can finally take care of themselves, then you can carry on with your life where you left it off in 2003, but until then Iraq is the responsiblity of the USA.

The framerate is very low.

It's a hardware issue, i think AC97 runs arma fine, but EAX and others have trouble.
-
There were reports of some pretty shoddy video cards running ArmA pretty well. However this is only true for the Czech version. The german version has severe preformance issues, maybe because of securom maybe not, but you cannot get FPS better then 20 with the bugged german version, so wait until they fix that issue (if you plan to buy deutsch).
-
I think you can solve that even in OFP with giving soldiers more hitpoints. They all wear the exact same body armor too... ahwell.
-
Maybe you have to place a gamelogic into the editor to make the lifts work. Could you post some screens of interiors? I can't really notice any other enterable building then that one hotel.
-
To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

Crank up the AI or stop complaining about how stupid it is. -
What? Nooo! Where did you get that from?

The mag disappears when the guy reloads and then reappears again. Nothing worth making a video over. The guy doesn't hold the mag in his hands, I saw it in another video. The M203 vid was about reloading the m203 not the gun. The animation for reloading the nadelauncher is the same though. Ok, thanks for clearing this up.
-
Shadak, could you please make a video about whether or not the soldiers remove the magazines while reloading? I think i saw a video where they did remove the mags, but your vid was about the M203 which isn't the main magazine so maybe that's why they didnt remove it. I don't know so i would appreciate some clarification.
-
He's right, there is very little cover outside of forests and town in OFP, there is some concealment, but infantry out on the plain is immediately toast.
-
Hi Shadak, can you try the reloading thing with a North Sahranian soldier?
-
I think BAS tonal is bigger. Somewhere around 600 km^2, could be wrong. Besides that's one detailed island.
-
I don't mean to offend you kev but it is not realistic to have any tanks on an island as small as Sahrani. What i'm pissed about is that BIS didn't include more APCs by default like bradleys and mt-lbs ,instead we have tanks. Big problem with tanks on islands is that they can't swim. o.O Anyways i'm sure you guys like huge tank battles and that's all fine and dandy, i like tanks the most out of all armaments myself, but no need to start bashing BIS if they limit their numbers for CTI. It would be a big bummer though if there aren't enough trucks/APCs to move around the island with...
-
It is obvious you don`t know a first thing about realistic warfare. Making a "landing zone" isn`t realistic at all, every beach (beach not coast) can be LST`s "landing zone" withouth any prior preparation of the beach. That's horseshit. Yea sure the intial landings can be in a lot of places but reinforcements/supplies usually arrive in predetermined areas.
-
Those "good old times" you talk about are the most unrealistic scenarios i could imagine on a small island conflict like sahrani... seriously, it's pretty realistic that there are only a few vehicles. And tank factories lmao! On a small island? Everyone is talking about how realistic flashpoint is then they point me to the RTS wannabe CTIs... argh! Seriously you guys should use your imagination... instead of factories make "landing zones" or something else, but as of now the BIS CTI seems a lot more realistic then those RTSes. Or didn't want to do. Sorry for the spiteful tone, but i hate RTS games that depict modern war...

AIs pretty good, don't know why the reviewers were complaining, they work better together then most humans. O.o

Adamicz, much thanks to you, for you have restored hope in my ancient computer, the creation of which is shrouded in the mists of time long past. One more time this venerable beast may ride to what seems once again the last battle against the wicked Knights of Death, who in the lands of the west are also called Hardware Requirements. Deutschland here i come, get those turks to make me döners, for i will require sustenance! My battle cry will be: Ich möchte diesen Teppich nicht kaufen!!! BITTEAAAAH!

Yea, it's probably fake, but most muslims, iraqis included, watch aljazeera and get their news from them. If stories like this are floating around then it's no big wonder things get worse overthere. It doesn't even matter that it's fake or not anymore, an iraqi probably would believe it. Plus the brits have a long history of playing tribes against eachother, whenever they have to deal with stuff like in iraq they just jumped the sides at eachother and sat back. They done it when their empire was intact... old habits die hard.
-
I'm sorry if this has been posted before here... i just saw it recently, so if it's a dead horse i'm sorry. But, it's a nasty story. link I realize that Aljazeera isn't the most reliable news source, but... Even if the news is fake, the iraqis are already pissed... beyond repair.

The AI seems nice enough, it's unscripted, has to be applicable to a bunch of different areas, so duh it's gonna be stupid. Plus the footage was too short to tell if the gun sways or not. Voice acting prolly went like this: get 5 guys to say "that" "all" "board" "1,2... 59, 60" "engage" "attack" "move" "to" "that" "a", done. If you do it any other way you can chalk up another DVD to put the game on and that doubles production costs. :P This game was made by what? 10 guys at most. About VBS2 being so great... yea cause the USMC can buy itself some supercomputers to run it on.

Kim Jong-Il has to smuggle his VSOP Cognac? I bet he is already drafting his instrument of unilateral surrender already. No cake either. I know it's China who got finally pissed off, but if the US would've started those bilateral talks then it would be just a few more years of wasted talk, with NK breaking whatever they agree on. So all in all they could've done worse. For the Bush administration that's a huge compliment.
-
You smell that? Smells like e-muscle. Anyways, the demo has been promised before the release of the game... but which release? The checz / slovak release? German one? Maybe once it's available around the globe. It's part of the fun.

Screw that First i'll give arma a whirl on my old 2.4P4 with 512RDram and a 6600 128mb. If it runs on that i'll eat mein hut.
