I'll grant you (pc boys) that. You seems to get the better of the games. ArmA2 confirmed on pc and OFP2 confirmed with editor on pc. And i will admit i'm kinda jealous about that, but here is the thing, i'll stick to 360 anyway. Because IT IS THE ONLY WAY i still can enjoy games in my limited free time. Now, if the OFP2-console-not-having-a-mission-editor thing proofs 1 thing beyond doubt it is that A LOT of console gamers were looking forward to both the editor (and OFP2 and ArmA2). It seems therefor that there are a lot of semi-hard-core gamers on console (like me). We would like to have quality games and tools, just as our pc 'friends'. If the devs and the market won't give it, well it is of course up to them, but ultimately it could also be their loss. So, NEVER say we (console gamers) are 'not interested' or 'too dumb'. I certainly hope BIS will release a ARMA2/360 with editor. They should, in fact it is like Avibird says 'a great oppportunity' ... you/BIS won't get many opportunities like that.

Life is extremely simple ... in fact you don't have to think about life at all ... ask any kid So, therefor a realistic game is extremely SIMPLE ... because you don't have to think about it, you just apply what you allready know and you don't have to 'learn gameplay rules' Baff1 got it right (imho) If you hear a gunshot, you look for cover ... nothing could be more simple:)
-
And what is your experience with it? Is it really that much better? Yep, you have (much) more control. If you are serious about FPS (like COD, Vegas, BF, played all three + RacePro) do yourself a favor and buy these things. For $17 it is a no-brainer. For me, after 3 days i allready forget these freeks are snaped on. They feel very natural.
-
Yep, i bought the COMBO pack --> link $17 + 13$ shipping to Netherland = 30$ ... just do it (it is not cheating, really:)
-
Lol, it was fun to be in the top 3 for once. As for cheating ... good question. But MS could build a next controller with the same idea. In fact i read somewhere they actually were working on a controller with more precision in aiming. Anyway, i'm truely amazed that these things actually work:)
-
About the ol' mouse vs controller ... i just received FPSFreek (and Speedfreek) Had read about it on RacePro forum. I felt the need to thank those guys within the hour:)
-
Lol, nope the pc guys are the 'simple' ones. Well we have a 101 keys keyboard so any decent game should USE THEM ALL ... because 'that is better' ... suppose somebody thinks of a 501 keys keyboard, i'm sure some dev will make a game using ALL those key, and pc guys will praise that game as 'even better then a 101 keys game' Lol:P

Perhaps we've upgraded a bit too much here. A mobile and a new gfx card every 6 months (and throwing away the 6 months old previous model) is just not sustainable in the long term:) (gfx of 2008 is not good enough in 2009 ... that sort of thinking ... not only in gaming but everywhere ... it had to come down and it comes down ... back to basics. Advancements, yes, but at a sustainable speed, leave out the hype, just enjoy the slower progress:)) Sorry, my 0.02 cents on the 'crises'

If you don't love the 360, just go for the pc, easy, you've got the money, time and dedication to go the pc route. (I'm not going pc anymore, therefor i can only HOPE and PREY that devs will put hard-core sims on console. While always debated by pc die-hards, we see (fact) that some devs take up the glove ... Elite was the ultimate precursor, GhostRecon and IslandThunder should be mentioned as well, prolly the original Rainbow too. On 360 just some weeks ago racer RacePro saw the light, there is flightgame IL2:BoP in the pipeline and we've got OFP2 there in as well .... plus, hopefully and could it make 2009(?) an ArmA2/360)

Yeah, a lot of things that were shown in the early builds of FarCry2 did not make it into the final game unfortunately, that includes the "what would have been" decent AI that we saw in one of the demonstrations. Overall FC2 became a huge letdown for what people were expecting. Well, i had some 40 hours of solid fun with FarCry2 campaign:) Anyway, if the AI would be as good as you guys wanted you wouldn't have a game in the first place. After all you are a solo guy. If i, as a loner, would take on a base of 15 soldiers, you would never EVER get the work done if those 15 AI soldiers would be as smart as you.

I certainly hope ^^ THAT ^^ is a given. fact: 1. In ELITE you only could play, but NOT share, the user missions of the host (not counting the ActionReplay thingy) 2. In FarCry2 on consoles you CAN share and/or download user maps So, combining 1 and 2 would mean in ArmA2 on Consoles you can create your MISSION (a la Elite) and SHARE it (a la FC2) ... that would be awesome:) ... All parts are proven concept and inline with MS XBL policy so there is really no excuse not to do it. I'm new to OFP/ArmA so I need to clarify, does that mean that I would be able to download someone else's created mission and play through it co-operatively with a friend, i.e. like a campaign mission in the story mode? If so, then that would be akin to having endless releases of DLC to keep extending the campaign. That sounds too good to be true! Yep it would work like that And it really SSSShould work like that:) C'mon BIS make us 360 gamers happy;) *sigh * Oh, the countless hours i had fun with the Elite editor, i was playtesting all night long ... http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=51930

XBL multiplayer is shithouse; - It' solely P2P, there's no such thing as dedicated servers and hence everything is laggy as hell and player counts are forced to be low (as in 4-8 people). - There's no such thing as a server browser, all you get is a join button which you hit and blindly hope that you don't get shunted into a laggy game hosted by some dude with dial up in Bolivia. There's no real control over where you're going. - It is expensive, here in Australia it works out to like $80 a year which is outrageous. On the other hand PC multiplayer rocks because; - Dedicated servers exist allowing games to have high player limits like 32, 64, 128. They also provide lag free gaming and pings like 20ms. - You actually have a proper server browser or can use a 3rd party server browser which allows you to pick and choose which game you join. You have ultimate control. - It's free!!!!! XBL is about friends, i play with/against friends, no need to go to 'Bolivia'

PC guys should support the idea of ArmA2 on console (360)! And watch it get watered down? Hmmm, some guys never learn:) Don't you think it is 'important' and your 'duty' to support BIS in making a great ArmA2 (on any platform they desire and think is important to survive in the economic troubled days)? Or do you think BIS is making a mistake when developing ArmA2 also for 360? If so, speak up and say it (even boycot the company for making 'dumb' decisions like that)? But remarks like 'watered down' are just BS remarks. Elite campaign was exactly like the pc (only gfx was better). The editor was 'lite', true (but my guess it was also slightly unfinishd cause of the BIS/CM troubles in the end, my 0.02 cents on that). And there was no modding, no. Worse, there was no DLC ... how come? I think the BIS/CM troubles played up once again there. ArmA2 on 360, with a medium mission editor and DLC ... bring it on. I can't see any fault in that.

Of course you can. You put 4x the money in it + the time 'to build it yourself' and you can 'beat' a 4 year old 199$ device. Now try the same with only 200$ in the pocket and say 2 hours of manual labour? Don't think so either:) And the 50$ 'argument' for XBL, yeah well, it is not free, true, but frankly i don't mind. As if Windows is free ... not

A pc game will never EVER be optimized (because it has to cater for all crappy hw out there:)). A pc game runnning on some pc will ALWAYS be a sub-optimal solution only clouded by throwing mucho money into additional hw upgrades of which only by hope, plug, prey and driver/tweak wizardy some extra effect can be obtained. Yeah, i expect a 1500$ pc to produce a mildy better graphical gaming experience than a 199$ xbox ... well, i should really If i would still be single and could use all the cash and time for myself i might still be a pc gamer (some great pc games are outthere, but fact is i have limited resources in cash and time so i'm glad the 360 allows me to have a very time/cash efficient gaming solution)

Sometimes 'less is more' I could live without MODS on 360, but i sure want the MISSION EDITOR as powerful as possible A console should be hassle free. MODS are, in general, not hassle free. But otoh, a popular/quality pc mod could find its way on 360 thru DLC (if modmaker, BIS and MS cooperate)
-
I'd rather build my own PC than buying another MS broken product. And run Linux i suppose:) (running Windows would be hypocrite, wouldn't it)
-
To PC FANBOYS: All your arguments become obsolete if the 360 gamer ONLY has and is interested in 360 games/gaming To 360 FANBOYS: If ArmA2 doesn't come to 360 we (i'm a 360 fanboy) are basically f****d (and only can envy our pc palls)

COD4:MW is a true quality title. You simply can't deny that. On top of that it doesn't pretend to be a 'realistic simulator' Now ArmA2 want ot be a 'realistic simulator' ... allright but don't forget it should be a true quality title as well. So what does that mean? - No bugs - Fluid gameplay/controls - Up-to-date gfx - Great online - Great story/campaign And you can fill above points with an Arcade shooter a la COD or a realitic shooter a la ArmA2 ... if a title neglects above points ... well, the masses surely will skip it, but are those boxes checked, well cash-in:) I want ArmA2, i want it badly, but i want it on 360 AND with those 5 points taken care off.
-
What does CoD4:MW tell us: Great GFX/sound, solid online, fluid controls ... that package sells. Mind you, i'm NOT a big COD4:MW fan (too arcade/fast) but i still can see the quality of the game. You can see what OFP2 tries (i say TRIES) to do ... namely have stunning gfx. Stunning gfx alone won't make a good game, but it WILL make ppl turn their head and take notice. ArmA2 gfx/action at least has to qualify as 'good' in reviews. The Elite experience taught us that sub-par gfx is killing (every review mentiones the sub-par gfx, and ppl just getting their hands on new shiny 360 just skipped Elite)

Hmmm applying this logic  http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/armedassault ... Aiii http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/armaqueensgambit ... it is getting worse? Ah wait, this is what i've got to get http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/callofduty4modernwarfare (anyway, i've got both Elite and COD:MW and lots of other games on my xbox and 360)
-
But another 'common sense' tells us that game devs could earn some money when producing a console version. Now, it is up to BIS to decide if they want to go that route. I don't know how many copies Arma2/360 could sell, but my guess is it could be in the multiple 100k's, say 300k for starters ... is that enough??? Anyway, there are other 'sim' projects on 360 ... Coming very soon is RacePro of SimBin (another will be IL2-sturmovics:BirdsOfPrey) ... to be seen if those will sell, but it could hint at the possibility of a console market for real SIMS Now, a true pc fan will NEVER admit that such is possible so the devs have to go ahead themselves and try it. I'm buying RacePro, i'm buying IL2:BOP, i'm buying OFP2, i'm buying GroundBranch, heck even SkyGods if on 360 and i'm buying Arma2/360 ... simple really, if only the devs will supply me with those games on 360. If you count me as a 'market' ... yes there IS a market:)

^^ I'll make a note of it
