  1. Good one there. Speaking of screenshots,I'm not sure if its of any importance of if anybody else noticed but look at these two images .

    http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics3/ArmAofpinfo2.jpg

http://www.virtualbattlespace.com/images/vbs1_dvd4.jpg Note the truck in the first image.

Their not the same vehicle but have similarities, smaller rear cab and different tires for the most part. Okay I'm not sure why I posted this now but theres no delete button banghead.gif

  2. They need to appeal to a more mainstream consumer. Thats not to say it needs to be a FPS.

Screw that,if they don't like it because of its complexity then their free to use other games they like, but it gets old seeing people dumb down things just to please somebody else.

I'm not harping on you but its moreso the idea of dumbing things down.

Oh were gonna make it so that all vehicles can be driven and armed by one person, this means that you can drive a tank while also being the gunner, there destroying the method of teamwork there,oh and we also introduced jumping so that if you get killed too much or don't want to to die then you can just jump and avoid those bullets, and those of you that like to dolphin dive,we'v made it so that you can instantly move to prone position to avoid bullets and cap your openent.

    Hell with that..

  3. *Takes off a shoe and hits Commando with it* Dear lord man are you mad?! Incorporating a jumping ability into Armed Assault would cause havoc and ruin the game and its realism, yes you can jump but people don't take this into consideration, next thing you know we have a bunch of CSS and more bf2 players comming over just to bunny hop and annoy the piss out of us.

  4. Sorry for the low video quality of the Boat trip, but I was so astonished by the new water that I didnt stare at my camera but at the screen.

Does the boat "bounce"/ "ride" off the waves?

I would tend to think so,OFP:E had this, and the waves varied with weather settings,so did how the boat moved, faster without bumps on a clear day,a few bumps like a normal fishing day on normal weather and on the cloudy weather it was more like Hawaii's waves.

Well what else to say...the transition of the lighter blue to the darker blue is definatly something you don't usually see. I can definatly see the boat moving up and down with the waves in that video. I absolutely adore the change of water color as you come closer to the island, and seeing under the water now gives a possibility of maybe scuba diving and other aquatic life. Glad the OFP menu keeps the same traditional and yet somewhat of a newer appearence, though I have to ask,was handling on the helicopter any different? Not really important but I'm just curious to know if the other guys in the interviews knew what they were talking about, saying its harder and whatnot.

  5. Whoa,I love the way the M1A1 moved...it looked like just like they do in real life, something about a driver and gunner doing seperate things seems to give that effect. 01:39 really looked great, the gloves and whatnot, though I'm not sure if thats how a 50cal sounds, but they know what their doing.

The enviroments look great, the vegetation and realistic grass with that detailed ground look terrific.

The humvee at 01:09 looks terrific and blends in so well with the ground,The ocean looks great and judging from the images, the ocean and inlets have different textures to them which is great.

I also think I can hear the treads moving and squeeking on the M1A1,not just the engine,I sure hope so..it would add soo much in the sound to the beauties that are tanks...

  6. Another shameless bump, due to real life issues I'v had to give up modelling on the flying dutchman so instead I have asked my friend NodUnit to work on it for me,he was hesitant at first because he has quite a few others he should be working on instead but after showing a few images he gave a concrete yes on working on the ship. Do note this is the one from the POTC2 movie, not the ghost ship in real life. Should get some updates from him soon. Just posting this little useless tidbit out there.

  7. When snipers goes in pairs to the woods/field one of them is the "range man", the other is the shooter.

    http://www.globalspecialoperations.com/photo36....360.jpg

Would be nice to make all of this as real as possible and not having a single simple sniper unit.

The range man would support the sniper as they do in real life.

Using only a scope to guide and support and having also camo uniforms.

would be nice if the sniper units (single/pairs) be improved.

And exactly what would you suggest they do to make this more realistic, this is a case of 'its up to the people, not the developers',if a sniper wants another person to acompany them then thats good and all but its not going to be something like you are a sniper and you automaticly come with an extra soldier with binoculars or something.

Same case with you TrevorOfCrete, people who believe in teamwork and such will listen to their commander,I remember I once played bf2 with some people and unlike most times I was a commander,I actually found myself talking quite a bit,a certain squad of five soldiers would talk to me over the mic and whatnot, they seemed like real team players because the squad leader would inform me of their location, situation, listen to my plans and so on,its nothing you can really force, its up to the person.

The idea you have Frederf is a good and yet bad one, what happens when you leave? What happens when you die? What happens when somebody comes in and screws up a mission that was based for a week or more?

  8. You guys seem to think that animals such as cows would be present in a firefight or so,as if they would stroll down the road casually while bullets are wizzing through the air. For somethin like a civilian life thing then yeah sure,we can even add feces scripts. icon_rolleyes.gif But everything can't be left to BIS,it seems that some of the community is starting to take advantage of BIS for AA,the more they need to impliment, the longer the wait,so don't whine about release dates and then 'oh yeah and we need this' as if you are staff or in control of the program. Yes the community has kept OFP alive for five years, yes there are thousands of addons, but the problem is that some of the community is thinking that BIS should make the addons,as if less people like the idea of making their own work. With multiple anims and so on,I'm sure animals can be made by the community, thats good enough.

  9. This is probably incorrect but I assume modern tanks these days would have some kind of screen to display what parts have taken damage in wording or visual, thus giving an ideal location of where the shot came from, its pretty impossible to spot somethin you can't see or know is there, until it hits you, then the hunt beigns.

  10. Thanks, but banghead.gif textures don't show, though I do believe I saw something about this, time to use the search button. Alrighty, after moving the texture folder to the O2 folder is works great, thanks you two, this will definatly shave alot of time needed to go ingame to test the true appearence of textures.

  11. Theres something I'v been wondering,I have seen people post images of their models in bulldozer with the textures at high resolution with what shows on the paint programs, however when I try this with my bulldozer viewer it shows the textures blurred as if they were being rendered at 512x512 or something. I preformed a search for 'bulldozer' but the search gave me no results at all.

I believe somebody said there was a file you have to replace..but I don't remember that file.

  12. Hm...now if it could have more animations such as charcter having frutstration and maybe incorrectly placing a bullet or not placing it that would help a bit in the realism factor because it ain't easy to load while moving, much less runnin.

  13. Indeed,it just means the engine itself will be done,I'm wondering how much VBS2 willl get to be..200..300? At any rate, can't really talk about it much before BIS will put his shoe up my rear or swat me with a frying pan. It may be a placeholder but regardless, the vegetation is by far the most impressive I'v seen,at this rate BIS just may get out with their far cry/crysis type enviroments. Though I wonder why they made the AH-1Z engines like that..I could swear they changed them...ah well.

I can't really say anything new that I haven't said before, orgasmic stuff I suppose sums it all up.

  14. Creepy how well the lighting is and everything, the grass there but not so blatantly obvious..seems the saturation effect OFP had is gone..then again that could have been fixed via contrast adjustment and such. Daylight looks excellent, surroundings are great, but I'm curious about night, but I suppose we'll see it when we are meant to see it and not before.

The images on the post card also look veeeery realistic.

  15. If BIS were to come out with an expansion I would figure it would be something like what resistance was, adding some stuff so that the community could do alot more.

As for the money, don't forget, they also have the VBS series to help fund them. And yeah its very possible that BIS is showing possible publishers and such things we don't see, afterall. Their having some sort of convention..I can't remember where..but its not open to the public. Another thing in terms of images I would have to say adds suspicion would be the wiki banner of images. There were about 4 enlarged images from that banner and the rest were not there.

Problem here is that the publisher is doing a bit of misunderstanding, yes you can release a bunch of games and expansions that peopl will loose interest with quickly. Thus eventually loosing interest in the series itself. However a good game such as OFP and the C&C series (not counting generals) will keep players playing it for a long time, were talking 5 and 10 year old games with still going communities. Almost everywhere you look you see a C&C mod or two for nearly every game. And fans that are really dedicated will buy an extra copy or so,just incase they play the disk so much they ruin it or something of that nature.

Another issue is that alot of publishers like to think in the 'now' and not the possible future,BIS with their "OFP" series have a bright future, for one its not really like other games. Yes BF2 has nicely normal mapped oceans but OFP:E/AA has 3D waves that move up and down and strength of tide is determined by weather. There is just so many things it has that other games lack,so much more immersion. Not to mention the collector fans like to buy anything that comes out for that game, such that people I'v seen with original CWC boxes,Resistance boxes,Gold Edition and GOTY all together. Thing is BIS promotes modding which will also keep a happy community,EA demotes it,on total bf2 I saw several images of vehicles from mods and the next few days an expansion with those vehicles popped out. With an attitude like that people other than the few will just give up on modding. I wouldn't be suprised if there was some kind of possible "WWII" bf2 expansion sometime.

I suppose the sum of this post is..we don't always see what is going on,but just because we don't see it doesn't mean its not there.

  16. Thats how engines work, some people just work on it till they get somethin better, nothin wrong with working on your own stuff to get it to work better or as far as you can or want it to.

As for the money, yes BISwants to make a buck, but that is not their priority, thats how it goes, they spend alot of time to create this game for you,it wouldn't be sensible to hand out free copies of the final product to everyone. A kind thing yes but foolish as well, money is needed for business to work, without money there is no business, the tradeoff.

But at the same time money is not their sole intent.
