  1. meyamoti, you misunderstand. I would prefer it if there were no crosshairs in the game (only the actual weapon sights). So as an alternative for people who need to fire in close quarters and emergency situations, a semi-shouldered position (weapon drawn to a braced firing position, but without looking down the sights) would be nice. Obviously this wouldn't be too accurate, but then it's not supposed to be. I know crosshairs will be optional, but I think this position could elegantly remove the need for them at all, making the whole experience that much more realistic.

Ah okay,I thought you meant the sight itself,I was rather stumped on it,but I agree with you on that. As for the walking and gunning,I'm guessing its possible to shoot alright if in the game hold your breath while doing so,but making the weaponry accurate while walking forward with your weapon so its as accurate as when standing still is a bad idea for a game.

  2. Their planning to make it this way,the demo is not the final plan.

When do we get a demo?! mad_o.gif

[EDIT] wow_o.gif I actualy just got two stars on my name!! yay.gif

    ...what does it do? huh.gif

When we do,stop wasting your time debating on it,its pointless adn we will not know officially until BIS states otherwise, until then the discussion is worthless.

  3. Decent maybe but his apache is more or less a compilation of other apache's with skins that other people made, not his own. Okay so there may be an MFD texture,it doesn't do anything for one.

Didn't they mention there is a way to start without any of the scripts..meh maybe they should make a simplified version, anything is better than a remake thats been made over and over while nobody else makes something new. I mean hell you look at all of these vehicles that somebody has made somethin new of,but everyone stayed with the same horrible incorrect apache except one.

I'm not saying that MPIV's apache is crap, but what does it do that any of the other BIS remakes can't? Hell BOH's atleast had an animated map.

  4. perhaps they will release a photoshop plug in for arma first biggrin_o.gif

nice screens- love the interiors and all the other stuff ive seen so far.

(sabber lechtz) some german words for my real emotions about arma. notworthy.gif

Why do that when the contrast can be adjusted by the user to make things darker.

  5. Good preview of ARMA on CGM.CZ site... text is only in czech, but there is few new pics too...

    Another gallery...

Yay, the T72 finally has a Commander Machinegun now! biggrin_o.gif

Or am I being a bit slow and we know that already... whistle.gif

Nope, every image of the T-72 up to this point had no machine gun,not even the one in the latest demo in the video's had it I think.. And yeah that BRDM interior is to die for, glad they kept interior..then again I can't tell if thats a passenger/cargo seat or not, either way,I hope they keep the interior for all of the ones inside of the vehicle. The change in tone of color for the water was a pretty good idea,I lived on Hawaii for awhile and thats pretty much how it looked. And I can't really think of any other wargame that would suit dynamic shadows so well.

  6. The sound engine adapts to that of what OFP:E has, problem is in terms of surroundings,if you don't have a good video card or system setup then you cannot use this feature. Obstacles will block how you perceive sound, for instance if you listening to battle in the open you can easily hear it,if you are being an obstacle of some sort it will sound muffled to an extent. However I have a home theatre of five speakers for this,so I naturally can hear OFP:E to its fullest, computer speakers with the standard two aren't going to get the surround effect, but they will get the deafening effect. However that area wasn't really a good demonstration of the sound engine improvements.

  7. I love that ambush video. inlove.gif I shit you not, I felt nervous for that bloke standing on the road before the convoy came... so bloody atmospheric. I'm glad Sahrani seems to have the woodland areas I love playing in OFP, with the pine forests and whatnot. Desert areas are OK, but not my favourite. For a while I was scared Sahrani would just be a bit dustbowl, but it seems that it's got a bit of everything.

The second I get that game... it's straight to the mission editor. biggrin_o.gif

Mhhm...and I guess you missed a bit of detail. North Sahrani has a more European surrounding, meaning thick forests and vast plains, south has more of a tropical feel to it. Not to mention the north part is much bigger.

  8. On a small but related tangent, I think a great alternative to crosshairs for people who want to shoot on the move would be a shouldered position. A shouldered position would steady the gun somewhat and make the length of it visible (so you had a general idea of the line of fire). This way you could move at a walking pace and lay down somewhat effective fire within 20m or so.

Thats what the F key is for,it was in OFP,regardless of it all,I highly doubt somebody can hold their gun to their shoulder and fire while moving, atleast not as efficiently as they were not moving (dur banghead.gif ) It seems fine the way it is really.

  9. Why did you guys replace the Apache with the lamo BIS remake one? Other than that,as usual FFUR is great, but seriously, why do does everyone keep goin back and forth between these two? Theres nothing really special about "MPIV" apache, hell it looks more like the modified cheek part was taken from the BOH mod and the texture would be Helifreaks retexture, not to mention its still a BIS remake and highly incorrect,I mean these guys go through the trouble to make a correct helicopter and it gets shunned.

  10. You apparently haven't been keeping up to date or played OFP:E,collision has been far improved past OFP,OFP:E even supports this, sure you can't stay on a fast moving vehicle, the fastest I was able to was was in a T-55 while a corpse stayed on the front of the tank, even then I think it was because the turret was in the way. But no it is not the same as OFP is,you may not be able to stand in a fast moving vehicle, but who can, okay if the vehicle stays on a straight course then yes, your body will balance and compensate, however as stated,if the object is turned, you fall over,if a brake is hit,you go flying. Personally I'd rather not fight on the back of a moving vehicle so somebody could quickly hit the break and cause me to slam my head into the back of the cab or go flying off the vehicle, thats just stupid. Now sitting in a vehicle and firing, even that is somewhat not understandable, for one you wouldn't have perfect balance, there would be bumps in the road and whatnot so your bullets wouldn't go where their supposed to,not to mention if its a crowded vehicle you might accidently shoot a team mate because of your stupidity to fire at them. Still, all things considered, this is a bad idea. Yes I know your thinking ships and whatnot, naval fleets, and how fast do they move? Not really fast,so it may be possible with them as they move slow.

  11. iron sights look great but they are centered on the screen so there`s no difference between ArmA and Doom3 when it comes to the sights placement (no right/left handed selection?)

Just how would the sight placement differ if you were left or right handed in real life?

Seriously, every game has centered sights,if you were aiming, regardless of being right or left handed, your naturally going to hold it so that the sight is at the center of your vision.

  12. Nope, that sarcasm got past me,my apologies. I thought he was serious because I suppose my anger was puffed up a bit because of all the little nitpicks and whatnot, not necessarily that but other several things that aren't much issue, then when I saw that I took it seriously and lost it,so yeah,I'm sorry.

  13. Lets take a closer look at that tracer.

    img1wb6.jpg

The two images are from the same place if not same scene, the red circle indicated soldier positions, the yellow is used to zero in on the soldiers gun and the magenta circle is located on what would be where the ammo is stored, obviously not an M16A2.

Judging from the look of these tracer positions, there are no shots fired by the soldier in the sandbags,a possible shot or two from the soldier with a pistol, now lets look at the other image.

    img2rz2.jpg

Here we have two possible tracers, the red and cyan lines represent where the bullet would have gone, obviously this tracer is not from the gun we see. Another thing to note, the tracer in the larger green circle has a transparent rear but a more 'solid' front,I would bet this was a tracer shot from the enemy.

Nice simplistic 'clock' indicator for soldier position as well.

  14. I figure Franze and NodUnit will provide the next AH-64's and of course current OFP addons can be ported over,so in a way,its possible, provided CBT wouldn't get angry if somebody attempted to bring their addons over to Armed Assault. Well, the Bradley's anyway.
