    Dynamic Destruction in AA?

Thanks I'll give it a read and see if I can get it working again Oh I like the vehicle signals...hmm..I just got this interesting vision that I'll probably never see in AA,people direction air traffic or ground traffic, intrusting a tank driver to pull forward,etc,etc...but that would be too real that people wouldn't wan it. Btw still a bit off topic I know, but do you know anythign that might fix the graphic errors? I remember ingame sometimes parts would be missing, like the M1A1 fron lights and the M2A2 tread rollers, blackhawk wheels and parts of the rotor assembly.

    Walking inside vehicles in ArmA?

Exactly. If you read all the stuff released to the media and forums by BIS you'll find that this is been mentioned. I have the impression ( I even can smell it) that ArmA is going to be well beyond VBS. VBS is not so new after all, and BIS knowledge and tech is gone over the roof sense VBS, well, I assume it has; lets be real, if I'm able to run what I run right now, surelly BIS should be able to excede their pass goals. We live in a new technological era, this years era. Last years era, for developers, is prehistoric. I don't want to get over excited with the development of ArmA, but I think that with the way BIS think we should expect this little details here and there to be present in ArmA. They know what the consumer wants by reading this forums, so lets just have faith in BIS, I belive thei'll deliver much more than we expect, that will explane the delay in releasing the game. I think that they realiced that ArmA as it was going to be released would give them a bad reputation because the game wouldn't be so far advanced compared to Resistance, and that if they expend a little longer in developing ArmA the results would be of a much greater satisfacxtion for the consumer. Game 2 can wayt, ArmA is priority and is going to kick some rear, is going to be a face melting game. So after this said below, yes, I would expect ArmA to be able to handle crew and cargo movement. Its not that far fetched, and I don't think BIS will find this a problem to make it real. Regards. @CERO. Exactly,I nearly melted on the ground when I started playing OFPE and saw its beauty and thought "Oh man it would be so awesome if they put this on PC..." Next thing I see that picture of the AA soldier and almost had to call 911,I figure I'll need them on standby when AA is released. About walking in vehicles, thing like blackhawks probably wouldnt happen, however you could get out and not have your gun on your back, you would be ready to fight as soon as you land. Say your in a chinook which then lands, you could then proceed out with your weapon ready rather than people waiting at the back to pick you off. C-130 drops would be too sweet, walking around, then getting ready to jump.. "Oh damn...my cord broke..." However not necessarily something like bf2 where you can pile people into a helicopter and they can shoot from it,usually in the cargo nobody hits anything..though I did kill one guy with a PKM once..still don't know how. However the doors always stay open so one well placed rocket...even one well placed soldier on a building with a rapidefire weapon, can wipe out everyone in the cargo. Which is why for blackhawks,It'd be nice to close the doors if yaknow what I mean.

    Dynamic Destruction in AA?

K I stand corrected on that(must've been thinkin about sumtin else or an older version...) Anyway, like I said I don't think Armed Assault will be implementing the destructable environment, as it is not a new game, it is a rework of an old game, and will probably not be introducing any new technologies or advancements to the scene. With the exeption of advanced A.I., I suppose we will just have to wait until Game 2 to come to see any real improvements over the Original Flashpoint engine. Of trust me,there are already many new enhancements, even if destructible buildings don't get in. Heh yeah I loved that in soldner, trailing down a forest in a tank and going up a hill, firing at an enemy building and making holes in it,awesome...I kept getting some odd graphics errors in it though and now the damn thing just won't connect, blah. Yes splashing rain would be awesome,I for one love dark and stormy missions,I would love nothing more than to drive some vehicles, have to use the windshield wiper because the rain is so heavy, and then when I get out I could see the rain drops hitting the vehicle and everything else, though I bet the gear would be quite a bit heavier. Not sure why I prefer dark rainy missions *shrug* but I'd like to see more of those than bright sunny missions. AA will no doubt open a variety of even more ways for the community to mess with things, with the optimizations we don't have to worry so much about things we been and still do. And if they release modding tools (Which I hope and believe they will) then even if we can't get an already working addon into OFP,we could always import the model and modify it to work from there,I'm quite sure a few things will need to be changed to accomodate the new physics and lighting. I'm interested in how the physics thing will go because I remember in OFP:E in a cutscene I saw a tank run over a group of barrels and they all fell and rolled,I decided to try this in three missions,in one mission I shot a barrel which continued budging, then I got jumped by pissed off soviet tanks. Then in another mission I shot the barrel...well it happened to be a fuel barrel and I'm not sure if it being near a fire had to do with it but the darn thing caught on fire, even more it was rolling around on the ground,on fire. So yes I would thing there going to be some things in terms of physics that we can do. The only thing I would miss are vehicle bm's with could make simple 2D textures look even more 3D because the way the lighting would 'reflect' from them. However I noticed that there are indeed bm's on the infantry so surely this is possible with vehicles. If I can find a way to get pictures from my xbox to my PC I would gladly share them with the community and show you the station, hell sometimes it doesn't necessarily blow up if shot with small fire arms,I remember one day I was shooting it with a rifle and the tank caught on fire.
  4. I have to admit,if bf2 didn't have these awards to try to get,I would probably have very little interest in it,thats the only reason I play it to be honest. And its not like you could spawn camp somebody in a tank because theres no such thing as respawning,it would forever to get anywhere. I could already see it... *soldiers are running through a field when an enemy soldiers spots them* solids-run enemy soldier *takes out LAW and fires* *BOOM* soldiers: OMG! es: PWNED! *later* *soldiers are running through the woods with the same guy stalking them* grenadier *turns around and fires an M203 grenade which kills him* es: NOOB! specops: OMG WTF?! Why I can't I throw my satchel charges...ey wheres teh detonater?! WHOSE CHEATING?! *guy gets into a tank* guy:.....wtf....why isn't the turret turning?!!?!?! ...Nah..in a way..like jumping,it does more harm than good.

    Dynamic Destruction in AA?

No he means this Soldner http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000VMINQ.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg In OFPE when a fuel station is destroyed it falls apart basicly, rather than just burns.

    Armed Assault trailer

Doubt the dynamic buildings will be in AA,if not I'm sure we'll hear some bitching....still nobody but the producers can say for sure what is and is not in the game,to be honest if its just OFP:E on PC then thats good enough for me.

    Calling all combat photographers!

Looking good, great idea with teh camera, original and something you don't often see,I mean we have lots of war things but nothing to tape/photograph it with,I guess now we do,Wouldn't worry too much about the model, lets face it computers aren't as old as they used to be and how many photographers are generally on the field at once? Just a thought though...wouldn't the pants cause some tripping or something being caught thus hindering a bit?

    ADF F-18 Hornet

Tis really simple,if you have O2 all you need to do is open the model, select the faces that you want to change the lighting, and press U for sharp and I for smooth, smooth best used on round things and sharp best on flat surfaces, definatly noticeable and can sometimes be a pain because they 'clash'

    Armed Assault trailer

Tis you, your blind. I can see quite a few things, though it maye be a bit difficult to notice they have the new lighting system in,if you look closely you can see the OFP:E water and terrain bump mapping as well at the scene with the long bridge. The enviroments appear to have the more OFP:E feel,in other words, they are more 'alive',the bump mapping is also obvious at the scene with the blackhawk, the ground texture also appear more high res and different ground textures blend well together. If your looking for the lighting effect then watch near the end, where the camera is scrolling past the 'desert' area, look at the wall and the houses and you should see it..now this doesn't mean that will always be there,no doubt the conditions of the weather will effect it,for instance in rainy weather you will probably see no light effect..I wonder if they kept that and if so if the rain is heavier or if they have two forms of it..guess we'll find out. The finger models definatly look much more like fingers, get the best OFP hands I ever seen to be honest. The differences may be subtle, but once you look at them ingame, you can definatly see the difference But heres another thing, with the collision fix,it would be possible to make buildings in OFP that you can actually have indoor combat without the trouble or worry of going through walls or a floor.

    General Ranking Ladder

Why do we need rankings? Whats one persons score over another prove really? If we do that then might as well do some kind of award system? Or did I misunderstand?

    ArmA release date leaked out?

Can't say how the network stuff works as compared to OFP on PC due to not having xbox, the AI seems to do well though I did get a drunk tank driver who continued to drive in circles a special ed forces soldier who jumped out of the blackhawk at a dangerous altitude and at high speeds,so he pretty much went splat on the mountain side.

    ArmA release date leaked out?

Bah,if you want something to play and you have a xbox I highly recommend getting OFP:E,there are many new things and you will see them, some you have to look for, others you can plainly see. Still even if AA has only the things OFP:E has it I will be satisfied,I can't see a reason they wouldn't...structures casting shadows in more depth, bump maps...its just so much..

    Vote for jumping?

It's not necessarily thats it not realistic, its that people would get hacks and abuse it,you cannot do this in real life and how many soldiers hop on the front?

Animations for getting in and out of vehicles

Jeez a 9 month old threat?!.....Ah well what else have we got to talk about eh,that said. Doin somethin like that though would call for the whole ability to walk inside of a vehicle rather then jumping out, yaknow kinda like what you see soldier in real life doing, running out of a helicopter when the rear door opens and such, would add more realism and help you from not getting picked off so easily

    Vote for jumping?

Most fences had bardedwire and the only fences you would be interested to scale in OFP were military...and military uses barbed/razor wire so why in the world would you want to climb those? I agree with Nedal, the equipment used these days is very heavy, not to mention you will be carrying other things on your back and waist,in the end the only 'jumping' you will be doing is pushing your feet off the ground so he can go prone. Jumping have never been a good thing in war games, ever. People really like to put how they would like to do things and try to put a positive spin, problem is for every positive person there are 5 others out there abusing this ability and bunny hop.

    Lack of Action

And most games allow 64 players max, were talking about....alot of soldiers ere, definatly not what you normally see.

    Release....

If you want to read some hilarious stuff you should check out the armed assault website and see those people bitching over theres, its very amusing.
  19. Heh yeah,an example I could think of is the Franze apache vs the Mpiv apache, anyone ever played with it (or maybe it was one of the past FFUR or Y2K3..oh well) either way,one of those apaches (and I know because it was original bis modified) when turned at the sun would shine such a bright yellow, and this is the black helicopter, however when comapred to the Franze variant, well thats ones just more correct and blends in well with the enviroment, especially some vietnam maps,I'v found it to be the exact same color as the tree's giving it a very good camoflauge.

    Completely addicted!

Usually the mods don't like us talking about VBS1 here but to sum it up,its a upgraded posedion engine,it can support higher resolution textures,no doubt has a different face mapping, you can stand on moving vehicles such as helicopters and trucks,I mean actually stand in the cargo area without collision issues or falling out. I'v been playing OFP I believe for three years,it didn't even take me five minutes to get addicted to it,one multiplayer game was I needed really as I was impressed at how the atmosphere was, gunshots everywhere, some shoting and then the 'damn such n such is down',I had to stop to take a breath for a moment and the islands expanded for ever,it was...is terrific, chances are I'm going to be addicted for OFP for a long time to come.

    Behind the scenes...

Eheheh, thats actually very clever, anunsuspecting person could miss it VERY very easily...Hmm...now to interrogate somebody to see if I can'd get the information. edit- Thanks for the information, you know who you are. Hmm lets see now.......ROFL! Oh man...some of those screenshots are hilarious! Oh I like the glasses, but I'm not going to give any information out on that, sorry people but if you haven't seen it and want to see it,scan the site and put two in two together, good luck

    Spinner Car

Mods are made every now and then and people will try to bs you about breaking it,however copyright law is only broken when you are making profit, such as selling the addons, simply making an addon from a movie or game isn't illegal.

    Vote for jumping?

That would be pretty funny to see a soldier in OFP try to run up the stairs backwards and come down rolling and bust his ass.

    Vote for jumping?

Bet that left a nice bruise. edit-darnit Mr_Tea you just screwed up my post, blah. I suppose it depends on how the obstacle is....for instance enemy bases that were on Nogova and such that had the fences, the fences went for quite a long way..I remember one CWC mission where you had to steal an Mi-8 to escape,I used a "type" of jumping, climbed a that was near the fence and darted down it while facing down, flew right over the fence without taking any damage, heheheh But in AA there would probably be collision detection systems and such, then again a small jump isn't going to get you over a fence,a climbing option would be better, but who would want to climb a barbedwire fence.
