    ArmA is just ... disappointing

First off, It's been a long time since I posted here, loved OFP. The guys at Bohemia Interactive are truly talented. I just recently picked up ArmA US version. I love it for the same reasons I loved the original years ago. It's a proven great game concept. The only real problem I have with the game is this: I have a purpose built gaming machine (albeit not top of the line) with an Intel Quad core Extreme cpu, dual 8800 GTSs (640 mb) running in SLI, 2 gigs of corsair Dominator ram (DDR2/800), running Vista32 and DX10, and all the latest patches and updates for software and hardware. Â My framerates are just...... poor. They jump from 75fps to well under 30fps depending on the action. And no matter what in game settings I change, I still get sub par results. My PC screams through every game I own, and that's with max settings. Â But I when I play ArmA, it's like a cpu/gpu stress test. Â Even the opening scenes of the island (as the camera pans over the landscape), my framerate jumps all over the place. Now don't get me wrong, I know it's a trade off. There is a ton of great things about this game, and I'm sure I'll see some marginal performance increase with the release of various patches and drivers. Also theres more to do in the tweaking department on my end, but I'm still disappointed. Â Â Â I remember all the tweaking, and editing configs, and upgrading components I had to do to get the original OFP running smooth and at a constant framerate years ago. Â I really don't want to go through that headache again. I guess I'll have too.

Aperture size bug, can it be squashed?

What CPU Benchmark do you get in ofp preferences with this cpu? MfG Lee 6849 cpu bench, not ground-breaking. Honestly I was eager to fire up FRAPS to reveal my true performance increase.

Aperture size bug, can it be squashed?

Hmmm, I thought it would effect performance in other games. After a quick Aquamark benchmark I found: [256mb] = 46,850 [64mb] = 46,850 Â Well, I'll be dipped. I guess I'll just keep it at a lower value. Thanks
  4. Hi, I recently finished a major PC upgrade, and the first game to get installed was Flashpoint/Resistance  Well, turns out I've been bitten by the "no menu, empty island, green screen bug". After using search here I found the fix, decreasing aperture size. I was wondering, will this problem get fixed in a future patch? It's a pain ajusting my bios every time I want to play OFP, and then changing back for all my other games/apps. My system: Athlon 64 FX-51 ASUS SK8V Prophet 9800XT 1 gig pc3200 REG/ECC Also, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, it's kind of general discussion about troubleshooting
