I believe B.I. needs to make an official response that addresses the following questions: 1. Will there be a patch or fix that will allow other game browsers to detect OFPresistance? Specifically "All Seeing Eye". 2. Why was the decision made to exclude server detection by other game browser services? *B.I. may feel it is not necessary to give this information. But OFP customers want to understand how they could be so blatantly ignored, by the All Seeing Eye exclusion. PLEASE ONLY B.I. personal respond to this post! And I don't mean canceling this post, denoir we await B.I. response......... BTW thanks for such a great game, OFP............ I'm not purchasing Resistance until I hear from B.I.

    Public master server for ofp:r

I have yet to purchase Resistance. I purchased the UK version of OFP early last July. I was one of a handful of USA players at the time. We all had to use Gamespy to connect to mostly UK players hosting games. Eventually more people from USA were hosting games through Gamespy and pings got better because they were closer. One thing that always puzzled me, why with my DSL connection was there rarely pings under 150? About October 2001 I found All Seeing Eye. All Seeing Eye showed dozens of pings below 150. I never saw a ping on Gamespy less than 120, but with All Seeing Eye I had at least a dozen or more games to chose with pings less than 100. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which software to use ASE or GS. I checked back and forth and the results were always the same ASE showed many more servers than Gamespy. I have read that Gamespy is the only frontend multiplayer software that will detect OFPresistance servers. If that is a fact, then I doubt that I will purchase Resistance. Gamespy was not good software a year ago and it is worse today. The decision by B.I. or Codemasters to limit server detection to only Gamespy ignores the dedicated OFP user base whom as a group all use ASE. Check out the main dedicated servers in USA, Stoners is #1, Fraghaus is #2, these servers are busy 24/7 almost all players connect through ASE or directly. I have cruised most of the other serious dedicated servers, to many to mention. I've chatted with the players. We all are using ASE. Those that exclusively use Gamespy, as long as your happy that is great. I have no desire to direct you to another service. But for those of us that left Gamespy for many, many reasons. B.I. needs to support us too. B.I. please make a patch that allows ASE to detect and show Resistance servers. I will await this fix before purchasing Resistance.

    Is ofp  mp dead?

Hi, I've been playing OFP since early July last year.  I was one of about 50 early US players that bought the UK version so I could sample this great game. I've truely enjoyed OFP MP inspite of all the problems that everyone is aware of. But I have come to the conclusion that OFP multiplayer is dead! How can I defile the wonder of OFP by declaring OFP MP dead, you ask? Simple, a daily server check on "All Seeing Eye", reveals the dreaded truth.  There are very few servers available with more than 5 or 6 players.  In the US, Stoner's, has become the main dedicated server with matches up to 30 players. Prior to Stoner's, Fraghaus was the main server, and now that server is locked.  Following Stoner's, and not in a order of popularity, but rather what I regularly see.  Radish's up until about 12AM with up to 22 players, MTCO games average about 10-16 players, Strike's Tact. OP server varies from 6-16, and Karrillions really varys from 2-30 but usually around 10 in the late afternoon.  It is 1am Sat. morning and the count for players are: Stoner's   =  20 MTCO     =  19 That's it!  All other servers show 1 player. This isn't an unusual occurance, but a typical server/player count. 39 active players isn't a popular game! I truely enjoy OFP more than any other game I've played, but OFP may have run it's MP course, a very short course of about 10 months.  Hopefully the new "Resistance" version will breath new life into Multiplayer, drawing in more players.  We can only hope...... What can BI do to help or change this situation? 1. Marketing.  Having rave reviews of your game is only half the battle. You have to get you product on store shelves.  I was at Fry's the other day, and there wasn't a single copy of OFP or OFP gold.  The floor person didn't even know what the game was. 2. Once you have the game on the shelf you have to come up with ways to keep it there.  It was amazing how many "OLD" games were on the shelf.  Mainly because of new packaging, or new ways to identify the product, etc. 3. Improve the game itself.  I never had to pay another cent after originally buying Halflife, and how many years of fun has so many recieved for their orginal investment?  There has been so many suggestions regarding improvements, I will not even go there, but I'm sure many will agree there is many ways BI can still improve OFP. 4. Be responsive to your customers!  I just purchased another game that has a small dedicated following.  This game has rave reviews, but never had the success of OFP.  Yet in my first post in the game's official forum the developer responded (replied).  The developer responds to almost every post in the forum.  THAT IS COMMITMENT!  The developer clearly understands that their product has a limited following.  Therefore it is critical the developer maintain the relationship with every customer that is interested in their product.  WHY?  Because when version 2 of that product is available the developer will get tier 2 sales, plus new customers will buy their product, thus higher sales volume. I hope that I'm wrong and OFP is not dead.  Other game developers are soon to follow BI's  OFP engine.  BI got there first, now does BI have  the stuff to stay out in front of the competition?  Or will a similiar game end up with OFP customers?  It's up to BI!  Please breath new life into this great game!
  7. I have a great script for tracking units. Â The script uses a unit marker that shows up on the map. Question: Â Instead of using normal markers, is there a way to call the unit specific markers shown in cadet mode? Meaning a tank marker, a jeep marker, helo marker, etc. Does anyone know how to call those markers in a script? ************* The below script was provided by Karrillion at OFPEC... I have not modified it. Â You can modify this script to track 1 unit, all units, units of just one side, or a group, etc. Â ************* ;VclGps.sqs ;To use this script, give unit name, ie: M1A1 tank named: ;WTank1. Now create a marker for the tank, name marker: ;MKWtank1. Do this for each unit you want to track. #Init Hint "UPDATING GPS INFORMATION. Â STANDBY." _WVcls=[WTank1, "MKWTank1",Wtank2,"MKWTank2",WJeep1,"MKWJeep1"] _EVcls=[ETank1, "MKETank1",Etank2,"MKETank2",EJeep1,"MKEJeep1"] _VclList=_WVcls+_EVcls #LoopInit _g=0 _count=(Count _VclList) #LoopStart _vcl=(_VclList Select _g) _g=_g+1 _vclmarker=(_vclList Select _g) _vclmarker SetMarkerPos (Getpos _vcl) _g=_g+1 ?(_g>=_count):Goto "LoopExit" Goto "LoopStart" #LoopExit ~2 Hint "ALL VEHICLE LOCATIONS UPDATED VIA GPS TRACKER." Exit

    Hardware Problems in MP

Our squad leader, is having serious lockup problems when playing OFP in MP only. Â He has no problems with other games. Many other games. Â He has no lockup problems with any other programs! Â He is a Network Engineer, and has built many systems. Â He has a new ECS K7S5A Â MAINBOARD SIS 735 chipset 1 gig DDR266 Memory GF3 Â video card Tried different bios upgrades to fix problem none seem to work. The board network and sound. Â I know he tried disabling sound, not sure on network , trying to isolate problem. The game locks up his system repeatedly. He can hardly complete one mission. Â So during a 3 hour session he may lockup 5 to 6 times. Because of his hardware problems, both with game machine, and his dedicated server, he is about to give up on OFP! Has anyone else had problems similiar with the same motherboard and chipset?

Here we go again....... Thank you, for your cooperation in advance.. *********************************** You could have bowed out gracefully, not continuing with your harassing barrage.  Not likely! tix<You *seem* to have problems with ppl in general that have different views.> mrmax... "tik" You have no view.  Your only points are criticism.  Nothing to do with the thread.  Furthur you generalize, by using the word, "people".  I haven't mentioned anyone but you.  No one else has harassed me except you. Further, you misquote Malboeufs reply' "Lets bring this up in the 2.X forums shall we " I don't see this as a correction on where I posted. Rather it's a suggestion to post in 2.x because it may get a better possible response. No mention of cross posts or anything else. In addition you continually come up with false issues so you can further argue and harass, ie, (tik said) "Obviously you never dealt with helpdesk topics from the view of the person supporting at all. Just try to imagine you had to keep track of this topic with posts on every thread" Who the heck cares, crap!  Helpdesk, view of person supporting all?  Give us a break.. And what is RtCW?  Don't answer I don't give a crap.. Finally you say, "I have no interest in *arguing* with you.  DUDE THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE DONE. Now, no further reply is necessary by tik! You may bow out gracefully, you have said enough. I want this to get back on thread. Do not give into temptation, by further harassing. If you resist replying, then we will know that I may be mistaken, you may not be a nazi.  However should you decide to reply, there should be no reference to the original poster (myself), and the only information given in a reply should contribute to the thread "Score Keeping Errors".  Being redundant, (providing unnecessary information already covered), should be avoided. Once again all who have had to endure this negative Interaction with “tikâ€, I apologize.  Hopefully now, we Can get back on thread…..

I apologize to all that must bear with my response to tik! Tix <won't increase the possibilty of it beeing fixed. > mrmax..Now your saying that BI doesn’t listen to their customers? Sorry but, I have several email from BI on other issues, That clearly shows they care about their customer base. Trying to suppress the way customers point out serious flaws in the current OFP game, is another nazi trait you possess. Tix<For your information Nazis tend to be facists/racists,> tix< Might be your lack of education to think *all* germans are Nazis.> mrmax..My error was in capitalizing nazi, as in:†: one who resembles a German Naziâ€. "nazi", As in yourself "tik", you just declared yourself better than someone you don’t even know. A typical nazi trait. In addition you assume that someone took the time to view your Profile. But now that we know you are from nazi heritage, the similarities fits even better. It’s unfortunate that as a German, you haven’t learn to distance yourself from these tendencies of superiority. Tix< since you do not belong to the "sophisticated majority" of whatever country.> mrmax..My gosh, elitism, justs ooze from your very core! Again you can’t hide Your nazi tendencies. You might consider seeking professional help! Finally, this is now your 3rd post on this thread. You haven’t made a reply yet that was germane to this topic. Please stop wasting Bandwidth with your superflous b.s. (Your silence from this point on. will show all that you are indeed, a cultured individual that respects the rights of others to express their opinion. 14. Is there an addon that only changes the skins of vehicles? For example, M1 tanks rule, so if making custom mission you could give M1 to both sides, but their paint job is different. Or is this a question for editiing?
