ACM module on dedicated server...
laggy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi all, Does anyone know if the ACM module works OK on a dedicated server? I made a MP mission, which depends on the ACM. When I host it, it is almost impossible to survive the mission. But, some beta testers said the mission was completely uneventful. I suspect those players tried it on a dedi. Grateful for any input, Laggy -

bumping some more... -
I really hope a developer sees this. The MP campaign mode is by far the most revolutionary aspect of ArmAII. To make it work properly, would be a high priorety on my list... Laggy

Thanks, Did you try your mission on a dedicated server? In hosted MP I know it works well. -
Animals controllable by commands?
laggy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi all, Does anyone know if there is any way of controlling the animals? The Alsatian dog would be good for a tracking party script, but the move and doMove command don't work on it. Laggy -
After playing the campaign in MP (hosted campaign) I have some really weird bug observations. Bugs that I thought couldn't happen, and I have no idea what the problem is. Playing the campaign in MP works fine UNTIL you have to resume (because of death etc.) a saved game. Then nothing works for the poor player that joined my campaign. Everything worked OK until "Manhattan", and these MP/locality bugs are taken from that mission: 1- The units (enemies, players and group members) are not on the same positions on our maps. I.e my client friend asking "Do you see that unit next to our vehicle?" Me "No, he is not there". 2- The client player gets stuck in switchmoves after cutscenes, and "skates" around until he has entered and exited a vehicle. 3- When driving a vehicle together, the client player (was driver in our case), don't hear or see me firing the weapon systems on our LAV. Neither does he see the enemies I'm firing at. They don't exist on his comp. 4- The sky is on fire on clients machine. 5- My client got fed up and we stopped playing eventually, since we were obviously playing TWO different missions according to our machines. These bugs I thought were impossible to achieve, and I have no idea how it's possible. Patch 1.03 didn't help with these issues. Grateful for any shared experiences or feedback. Laggy

Cannot find my own created mission .pbo in Windows 7
laggy replied to furia's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
:p LOL, thanks sbsmac... I always wondered where my damn "ghost" missions were located in my Armed Assault installation. Searched the whole comp. for pbo files with no luck. In the MP lobby, my list was cluttered with all these missions with identical names, really frustrating, no way to remove them. Now its solved, thanks to you. Too bad I have already switched to ArmAII, wish I had gotten this info a year ago. NOTE: I think this issue occurs when you install ArmA/ArmAII where Vista or 7 wants you to do it (Program Files). Creating a new folder called "myBISgames", and installing it there solved it for me with ArmAII. Cheers, Laggy -
How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??

The poll is phrased weird I think, can't really vote. I love the game and think its BIS's masterpiece. But, it still has many problems, due to the premature release. All fixable, but right now, it's annoying many people. Laggy -
It is not a problem, but an option. Has to do with game options or difficulty settings. Red for enemy, green for friendlies. Try to change difficulty or game options. Friendly/enemy tags. Laggy

Hello there, I have a question regarding what I should do when I follow three different threads covering a very important bug subject, but they are not getting any attention. The bug is severe and I suspect BIS would like to know about it. Unfortunately the "Troubleshooting" board gets all cluttered by people that don't bother to search or read the forum and consequently start new unnecessary threads. I don't want to join them in this chaos posting, so my question is: What do I do? The bug I speak of, might be related to the First Aid Module and makes the campaign unplayable as hosted MP, it most likely affects any MP game. It seems like the bug creates an extreme locality discrepancy between host and client. Basically, it means that the client and host are not playing the same mission, but two parallel SP missions. I have encountered this bug before in community mods for OFP, and it unfortunately makes the MP mode unplayable. This should be of some interest, I believe. The important threads I refer to are: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=83002 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=83008 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=82957 Side note: It must be an annoying task for you mods to filter all the mindless threads about "My FPS is not over 30", "Texture flickering", "Score issues" etc. - Who cares? You fry bigger fish first... Hope you consider my "fish" to be big. Regards, Laggy

Really long and "story-driven" MP missions. Are they wanted???

First Aid Module broke still after 1.03

Anyone else experienced the locality bug? Any more observations that indicate that the FAM is the cause? This is a major issue that needs attention. Laggy -

@ Garbol87 Are you saying a normal coop MP mission, and not hosted campaign? If yes, did you load a suspended session (which is autosaved) when the bug happened, or was this all in one session, without interruption? If all in one session, the healing might be the actual bug starter and trying to recall my own sessions, I think the bug always occurred after someone had been healed. It also makes sense in relation to the bugs in the OFP mods I described earlier. Maybe the save is not part of the issue at all. Hmmm... this needs to be investigated. Something is definitely not right, and this bug is one of the most severe, I think. I'm surprised that not many people have noticed or mentioned this issue. Laggy -
Would you like to see a WW2 Eastern Front Mod?
laggy replied to =Spetsnaz='s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yes !!! That's where the outcome of the war was settled. Mud/Winter and harsh conditions, please. Many civilian, house and object models can be used from the original game as well. Not too many new models needed in my opinion, mainly infantry, armor and maybe planes. Would be great with a German side conversation system, if possible. Also, putting a lot of effort into the terrain/island would be the key to success, I think. Nothing beats amazing terrain, like Chernarus for example. Laggy -
Well, if it only affects the score... No problem, I don't care. If it affects your rating... BIG problem - Then you will be considered as a renegade, when stealing enemy vehicles and using them. If your team members shoot you because you just neutralized an enemy squad with an enemy tank, that would be a terrible bug.

First Aid Module broke still after 1.03
laggy replied to =SF=Hyrax's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Dear all, Some other noticed issues, at least happening in MP: - Player wounded while being inside a vehicle = can't get out and can't get First Aid. - Units performing First Aid sometimes get stuck in the animation, and the wounded never heals. I have also experienced another serious locality problem in MP, and I wonder if it could be related to the FAM. I recall some great mods for OFP ("Liberation 41-45" and "American Civil War"), which had the exact same problems that I will describe. Those mods had many scripts that tampered with damage systems on units, bayonet usage and other things. I have been hosting the "Harvest Red" campaign now for several sessions, and we have encountered a weird bug. If the mission isn't started from the very beginning (meaning loading a saved game), you have some serious locality discrepancies, between the host server and the client: - The client doesn't have the correct positions or stances of the units local to the server. He didn't see me even when I was standing right in front of him. - Though being in the same vehicle (LAV in our case), the client doesn't see or hear when the hosting player fires the weapon system. - Neither does he see the enemies I fire upon. - Several times the client saw other units right next to our vehicle, but they didn't exist on my hosting machine. - When firing upon those units the client saw them vanishing into thin air. - When we got into firefights (according to the host), the client didn't experience it, he didn't see any enemies and didn't hear any shots. All these issues occur after loading a saved game. They sometimes get fixed by the client disconnecting and JIP, but not always. This "bug" was not because of internet connection problems, it only happened after loading a saved game, and during ALL sessions. If you know this isn't caused by the FAM I'm sorry for taking up your time, but since these are serious issues, maybe you could point me in the right direction. Regards, Laggy -
Yes, I remember those mods, while being very serious modifications, they were unfortunately not MP compatible. Your theory about the First Aid Module causing similar problems, seems like a plausible one. I have never used that module in MP myself, as it seems to be not working properly yet. I hope we can get some input from a developer on this. Laggy

Thanks a lot, I'm currently touching up the last stuff on 0.96 version (final). I will most likely add a parameter in the mission so that you can choose night as well. Meanwhile, you can hide and wait for 1.5 hours in the game itself ;) Or open it up in the editor, after unPBOing it. Laggy

I voted GOOD. The terrible load stutter in the big cities is now gone... HOOOORAY!!! Also seems like I gained one or two FPS in general. LOD on some tree models are still inconsistent though. Modules and campaign still have to be tested. Thanks, Laggy

Texture load stutter seems to be gone. More testing needed. Talking about the urban areas (Chernogorsk and such). Very happy, so far... Laggy

Oh man, here we go again... So: Downloaded SmartDefrag, ran it in defrag AND optimizing mode. Took several hours. Downloaded and ran Advanced System Care, which found and removed many problems. Downloaded and ran GameBooster, which shuts down unnecessary background processes and flushes/cleans RAM. I started ArmAII... YES ! It runs great again, no stutter what so ever. I shut down ArmAII. I restarted ArmAII with high expectations... STUTTER HELL AGAIN !!! I am stomped. Setting the swap files from 4500-9000 MB (based on my 3GB RAM) didn't help either. In my user folder I see a config file and a ArmA2profile file. The config is opened by notepad, but the profile is not recognized as notepad. How can I open my ArmA2profile file? How can I save my changes and configs after the game has been running great? Can you make it last, so that it applies for the next restart as well? Is there a solution at all ? I'm starting to doubt it myself. The best theory I've read so far. Is there a way to force the old (good) route, that was used before the Vista update? Without a system recall? Many sincere thanks, Laggy
