But the positive I got out of watching the new flight model at work was the fact that the AI seem to be able to fly beautifully! There is an elegance about the way they fly. I hope that we don't have to compromise too much if and when they decide to tweak the flight model.

That Mi-17 video was certainly interesting. It looks like the test 'desert' island was used. It looks like the helicopter can do new things but it jerks about so much and has lost its fluidity. As Red Kite said the OFP Helicopters (the heavy transport ones) had a 'bulkiness' in their manoeuvrability, they were cumbersome to move and you did get a sense of their weight. I guess we can only really judge the new flight model by getting our own hands on them, but the video did seem to show flimsy, haphazard steering, though this could also be the fact that the player was getting used to the new flight model. I'm treating this release like I did the OFP release, all these things will be ironed out with time, and I guess BIS is getting a lot of feed back from these forums, so that they can provide patches and possible improvements where they are required and, in some cases, desired.

Fair enough, I agree with you there. BUT, in the video, it was clear that most of the Armoured threats were disabled. Surely the next level of defence would be against, Cobra gunships armed with TOW's and possibly Hellfire missiles? I'm ignorant about this fact and could use some clarification: Can the NSV be operated and fired while 'Turned in' on theT72? I went out and did little research (alright I used Google :P ): I guess firing the gun from within the tank is not possible. But I feel you would go to any length to protect the tank and using the Anit aircraft 12.7mm NSV as a forceful derrent againt direct attacks might prove useful. The question of survivability is something else though.

After watching the Battle scene with the civilian (from the videos on armedassault.eu), I was surprised that the tanks didn't attack the helicopters in the air with their Commanders MG's. That's what they are there for right? I did love watching the AI fly the Helicopters above the battle though, they were a lot more elegant than the user controlled one in the other video's (but I guess it's all to do with getting used to the new flight model).

    CTI in ArmA

I have no idea!!! Like I said, I'm in the 505 area, so will have to wait till Q1/07 to find out . I hope an ArmA owner will be able to answer this. Just so you understand, my above post is based on a Guess as to how it would work, an ArmA owner will be able to better answer your question, based on facts and not on guesses!

    CTI in ArmA

I don't have the Game yet FOX86 but I can hazard a GUESS: Yes they will move into your new captured town. The convoy will basically be a logistical team based around an ammo truck, repair truck, an ambulance and fuel truck. Once and 'AREA' is captured by allied forces, the 'AREA' (with a flag in it) will become an allied base. The convoy of truck will then move to the new base where it will become a re-supply base or Forward Operating Base (FOB). This will mean that troops on the ground and in the air, will not need to travel to their main base (where the convoy came from; and where the allied forces started out the CTI) to re-supply with ammo, Fuel, repair and heal. This enables domination of a map by reducing time and effort on moving from the main base to the Area of Operation (AO) and therefore doesn't disrupt the pace and flow of battle as much. Logistics convoys are the Key to most battles, one of the largest logistics columns seen in modern history was used in the Iraq invasion. This is just a guess on my part as to what the convoy is for, how it works in game...well I'll have to wait and find out. Some of the CZ crew who have the game might be able to give us a better answer.

I hear you there Espectro. Myself and Frantic have both expressed a wish to see this in previous posts. Though I don't think I made myself as clear as Frantic and Yourself have as I was pretty Mullered when I wrote the request. I'm very curious to see what this would be like. Shadak or anyone else involved in making INFO-FILMS I think there are few people who would love to see what this is like. How does it look in 1st, 3rd person view and through scopes of varying kinds, as well as through the tactical commander view? Thanks in advance

    CTI in ArmA

No not at all. I was merely suggesting that once the Patches were brought in and ArmA had all it's little bugs fixed (not that I know of any since I don't have the game yet) and it is almost perfect (nothing is 100% perfect) CTI would be awesome! I was basing my comments from the experiences of when OFP was launched. I think the word 'Stable' was the wrong word to use, will edit the above post. Sorry for any confusion.

    CTI in ArmA

The Convoy idea is great, it just means you have to think really hard about your tactics. Bridges become more important. Securing routes become a factor. Protecting Convoys with mobile AAA gets thrown in. The CTI games we will have/have in ArmA will be on a different scale to that of OFP and I think (I have to wait for Q1/07) we have/will have more tactical options. Before we really didn;t have to worry about troops approaching/infiltrating by water, now we have to worry about sabotage squads in small teams using guerilla tactics to launch attacks via 'Rivers' and the sea. No more listening out for outboard engines by the coast! (provided that we still get to keep our weapons when we are in the water). CTI will become more 'Realistic' in ARMA we will have to think about Logistics and troop movement. Logistics means more to attack and more to defend, I FEEL the pace of battle will slow down and there are going to be CLANS AND SQUADS who start employing STRATEGY as well as tactics. I feel there are going to be a lot more Arm Chair Generals getting involved who won;t actually play the game 'on the ground', but will sit back and watch the game unfold and will direct their forces acordingly... for this to happen they will need eyes 'on the ground' and 'in the air', maybe people will start adopting RECON roles, checking for enemy movement in the vicinity: are they setting up ambushes? Or moving troops to prevent movement of force into an area? will they prevent Logistic support?...Will that in turn mean that troops will have to pull out of an area, moving back to towns or villages where they can be reinforced or re-supplied? I have a feeling once the patches are added and that ARMA is 'almost perfect'; and when the MODs start their magic, we'll be talking in different tones about CTI... ...Though all this means Jack since I am waiting for the game and won't know if any of this will be workable until I get it... Just my 2 pence worth.

Hey Shadak, I would really appreciate it if you could make a video showing how the grass works. There was discussion as to how it would work when it was only displayed around the player only (to a distance of 100 meters or something, this is a guess! ). If you have soldiers in grass in the distance does it provide some kind of cover? I hope you know what I am talking about, I'm really hungover today... Also like [CAS] Daniel said, the VTOL feature (if any) on the harrier

    RHS release 7

WELL DONE RHS on an outstanding set of addons. I've only just had time to download them ALL and play around with them. They are of a very high caliber (as usual) and I would like to say a big thank you for enabling me to have a modern force to take on those Peskie Americans and their Capitalist ways
  18. This has always been a MOD with a high level of work going into it and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with your units. I just have a few questions: Can a downed Pilot be rescued at sea using any of your Medium Helicopters? Do you plan on tweaking the ground based steering of your addon's? It's just that I have skidded and caused damage to my plane when turning on the taxi-way especially the C1. Are you planning on redoing the interiors of the Choppers as some don;t have roundels which makes flying them a little more challenging? Also a few of your wheeled vehicles seem to turn like they are on ice when you go hard to the left or right, there seems to be a loss of traction (I'm talking about at low speeds rather than at high speeds, when this happen normally in OFP:R)...the LAV is an example, the same with the CCV. Anyway I'm going back to playing with these fantastic addons. YOU GUYS ROCK! Thanks again for your hard work and dedication that brings out such quality addons.

    www.vbs2.com / www.bistudio.com

If anything, VBS2 is a testimony (or will be once it's released to the 'TRADE' ) of what we can expect, to a degree, in GAME2. I only base this on the fact that VBS1 is the base, in part, to ArmA. Very impressed by the Physics involved and the AI. The load master video could, possibly, be an example of the helicopter flight model in ArmA. There are so many elements being presented in VBS2 that I personally would love to see in ArmA...here's hoping some of those elements make it into ArmA...and the rest into Game2...

Lets go with one of those shall we...Something about red light / green light I'm going to give up on that analogy!!! But I hope you get the idea of the game. The people who can get to the finish line without being shot win! Snipers can't move from their position (some triger could be used to keep them in place). You could even have someone on a M2. Players have to negotiate thier way from point A (start) to point B (Finish), and are aware of where the snipers are positioned, e.g. Flags flying over their position. Each 'yellow banana t-shirt' wearing player has to run, crawl, duck and dive and generaly evade being spoted and being taken out by the sniper. Ah, it's just a silly idea!! forget I mentioned it!

WARNING: completely off topic! ...no, not hide and Seek. Its the one where one kid stands with his back to you all and every one has to creep up to him, the first to tag him wins. The kid with his back to you turns round from time to time and if he sees anyone moving they are out...I can't remember the name of it!!!!

    Deployable HMGs?

WGL MOD has this system implemented and is very effective. There is no doubt that this system will make it's way in to ArmA, at some point in time, through a MOD. I do hope that 'Tripod's/Bipod's' are actually usefull in game rather than just eyecandy.

    Couple of ideas...

No. We have our clan quite a while and we don´t need such. We judge people by their attitude ingame and their ability to achieve goals or work as a team together. Killcount doesn´t matter at any point of serious online battling in OFP today. What matters is the team effort. Rambos are not welcome in any serious clan I know. Fair enough NOTE:This was merely a statement of what I personally feel and not a dictation on how people should play the game, so don't take it that way. Please note that I use words like '...I feel...' and '...I believe...' representing personal views and thoughts. I was merely commenting on a use for a score board system; should one be implemented (I hope not). Hence I began the post with: I personally don't believe in them in OFP, but feel that, if it could be useful for anything, it would be a helpful guage to make decisions within teams. I didn't mention kill counts. I simply hinted that points should be allocated for skills (don't ask how this would be implemented, I was simply brainstorming and expanding on Quenaelin's point) used in missions. This is a suggestion for a tool that could be used by Team leaders who can't sit and watch every clan members performance in battle while they themselves are engaged in the same battle. Re: the term 'testing': Maybe I should have said 'training' rather than 'testing'. I completely agree with the NO RAMBO's issue. I believe in realistic tactical gaming hence I play OFP and not...well any other game Hope that clarified my somewhat simplistic post earlier. edit: The beauty of OFP and I'm sure ArmA, is that it's flexible enough to be played in any way the player wants to play the game, through custom missions. I am personally a realism and a tactical gaming fan, but I'm sure that ArmA will have people who enjoy rambo style gameplay with kill counts and scoreboards; especially since it will attract new players to the game who might be used to that style of play, so I guess it's all up to the individual to play the game the way they want to.

A quick suggestion: Everyone in civillian gear (more specifically the YELLOW BANANA t-shirt wearing civillian) the mods are all snipers in the hills, we have to get from the start line traverse through the country side to the finish line (probably a town) before we get shot...it'll be clear who the winners are and who the loosers are (er...the dead ones are the loosers for those who can't work it out ) It's a cross between Monty Pythons: 'How not to be seen', and a child hood game...er... that I have completely forgotten the name off...
