    Civilian Men/Women

Now that is pretty nasty! Hey it's a start having a model in there, it just means there is a possibility for development.

    Civilian Men/Women

I've seen a couple of recent pictures from the Editor MOD, showing 3 women, 2 generals (though one looked like royalty) and a Man wearing a Blue Press BPV/BA. I guess they are not included in the 'proper' editor. They look pretty good though. All those complaining about there only being 1 woman can now rest at ease, there are 2 more!

To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

Oh well, something to MOD at a later date. So that it could be used effectively in Multiplayer. The more strategic targets the better. It's a shame though not to have something that pretty have any real function other than to look good.

To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

Just out of curiosity: I've seen a few screen shots with what looks like an electricity substation (blue boxes with orange/red tops). Does this substation have any effect on the lighting on the island or city in question? Will blowing it up destroy the power on the island or the portion of the island. I only ask because it would be a pretty cool feature to have in order to gain a tactical advantage, by knocking the power out and sending troops with NVG's to clear out a besieged town. Obviously directed at anyone with the game, it may be worth trying out in order to see if there are any effects, it may just turn out to be eye-candy. Though it could prove very useful in multi-player. I know Mapfact had a feature like this in one of their addon releases where you could cut the power to the base at a terminal and then assault it.

    William Porter's Blog

I asked this in the ArmA Photography thread, but realise it's better suited in this thread: Has anyone with a copy of ArmA found Franks Truck in the sea yet? I refer to the time when he drove it into the sea (see the post in William Porters blog). Just wondering if BIS had included this in game as a possible easter egg, they have a pretty good sense of humour!

Has anyone found Franks truck (as mentioned in William porters Blog) yet in the drink (i.e. the sea)? Just wondered if the truck is a permanent feature of the sub aquatic scenery.
  7. Thanks for the confirmation Gunterlund, going to try the Artillerty now. Been messing around some more and have found that the Helicopters in game don't seem to blow up. They crash quite happily, but there are no explosions: no smoke; no fire; no bang! Not sure whats going on. Just to reiterate I'm using: @SLX1.07;@WGL5.12;@CoCUA
  8. Thanks Solus, I shall try it out when I get back home from work. Just to confirm: All I have to do is place an ammo truck (east/west depending on squads used) and they will call in artillery. I'm guessing that all the artillery pieces from CoC: UA will work with this. Thanks again for creating and continually supporting this truly fantastic MOD. I have never enjoyed OFP more!
  9. Solus, Just to let you know that I am getting the same problem re: Missing Explosion sounds using CoC: UA. I've updated to the latest version of SLX MOD. Am running it as follows @SLX1.07;@WGL5.12;@CoCUA WGL5.12 has the new config from SLX ver.1.07. Just thought I should report it.
  10. There is something mentioned in the Read me about Artillery (something referring to the ammo truck?! ) . I Was wondering how one would set this up and get AI to call it in. I am currently testing the AI's ability to use GL3 to call in support (without any scripting or triggers! ) and was wondering if it was possible to get then to call in Artillery. I'm running OFP:R1.96 with @SLX;@WGL5.12;@CoCUA. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

    Falklands mod progress

I'm sorry, I don't seem to understand the 'Idiocy' implied by you in the statment I made. Of course what I said is left to your own interpretation. But I was simply implying that it would be fitting to place something on the island that would show a mark of respect for the actual conflict and seeing that it is the 25th anniversary next year and this mod is trying to recreat the conflict virtually, we should be reminded that even though it is a game, REAL people lost their lives. BAS achieved this in their Addons, namely the PAVEHAWK and the inscription inside one of their bird's dedicating it to the memory of fallen Parajumpers. Since the mod is based on a real confict, surely it's only right that the mod pays a mark of respect to those who did die in the conflict and those that are suffering as a result of it. I was trying to be respectful, I guess that concept is simply lost in these forums sometimes.

...Oh you is a mean, mean man Mr Burns, yes sir you is! Â Those are fantactic Screens Mr B. More of those please. SIDE NOTE: Should we not be using the Comments and questions thread to minimise on the clutter? I tried to use it but then everyone was using this thread still and I didn't want to go against the grain...I wanted to be cool like all the other boys and girls Â

    Falklands mod progress

I mentioned this in another post, but I thought it would be more appropriate here. Kind of Off topic, but just so you all know: Next June is the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands Conflict, and I was wondering if you could possibly make something for the Islands you are creating. A monument to the Fallen or something surrounded by red poppy's or something like that. Don't want to be seen as telling you guy's what to do, but I think that would be a great way of Honouring the Men and women who died and who are suffering as veterans of that conflict. Keep up the good work guy's I'm sure we'll all be amazed when this is finished, even if take a little longer to get it ready for ArmA. Have a good one

Excellent! Not too interested in the looks as such (not a graphics whore), but just a little critique on what was shown on the video, Had no idea it was an old version. I'm sure they've tightened up on a few of the issues that I raised. I wonder if the Morphicon release will be an updated release or whether it is going to be the same as the Czech release? Â

WOW Â That certainly was atmospheric!!!! Â I loved that the aircraft stayed level on it's bombing run and didn't dive!! Now all we have to do is wait and see what it does when attacking a Lased Target. Â They certainly have improved the Radio chatter I couldn't understand what the hell the Artillery (probably from Forward observers) were saying to start with! The Artillery was a bit suspect as well only when it landed right next to a guy and he just lay there like nothing happened, couldn't see any injuries, maybe he was suffering from shell shock!!! It looks good, some obvious work needs to be done, but overall looks bloody marvelous!
  16. Solus, This is truely a ground breaking MOD (for me anyway). Thanks for putting in the time and sharing such a great piece of work with the community. I haven't had any of the reported problems yet, but I'm happy playing it with Bog standard OFP:R vanilla. I also used the updated link to install, so I shall test some more and report any bugs here. Just did an AI versus AI skirmish and it was fantastic. Sat back and watched as a civillian. West Mech Inf vs East Mech Inf. Gave the West CAS by just placing a AH1 at the airport on everon. Sat back and watched...Jaw dropping. After the initial shots were fired (a few Pinging past my ear accompanied by the Supersonic cracks! ) I could make out shouts from the radio man (i'm guessing as I wasn't close enough to hear him, but could see him perform an animation) then the fireing continued. The BMP and M113 advanced on each other with their back doors open as troops manouvered, then all of a sudden from behind me I could here the 'Wup-wup-wup' of the AH1 and a tow being fired. Bang the BMP took the full hit and splatering two East soldiers into bits and setting a third on fire, you could hear the screams...I started to feel sorry for the troops who were suffering so I could watch this superb MOD in action, so I decided to run round and heal anyone who was injured. It was great as there were troops being dragged from one place to another by their own troops. Need less to say the West won (this time)with the help of CAS. After the little skirmish the West troops went round healing the 3 surviving East troops and took then as captives. It was interesting watching the West troops as there seemed to always be a guard for each captive! I'm discovering more about this Amazing mod. The bullet holes don't seem to show up , but I need to mess around and see whether this changes when I change my settings; I have everything on low so that the AI can hae full access to my CPU, I'll continue testing and then Start using it in some other mods like WGL...maybe even make it look pretty by using FFUR 2006...this abosolutely ROCKS SOLUS Â Thanks again! To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

Well I think it's about giving the Dev's and BIS a chance to live up to their 'promises'. Let's wait and see what happens with the Major 505 release as has been stated previously by God's BIS Messenger (No offence intended to God or anyone else): Placebo, there will no doubt be patches and improvements to this Eastern ArmA 'Basic' release. Lets wait a while and see where it all goes shall we then people can berate the BIS, the dev's, etc, if things don't work out the way they want the game to be! I seriously doubt people will be complaining if ArmA goes through the same improvement process that OFP went through...

    Resistance side In ArmA

I think that makes a lot more sense. Since the US Army are there as a training and Support element. Its not like the US of A actually own SS as a colony. Maybe BIS should think about this...then again they may just say sod off!

    Sahrani map!8

For some strange reason I'm finding my self comparing ArmA: Sahrani and the story line to the Falklands Conflict. There are tiny similarities, but the bit of land connecting North and South, Corazol, just remind me of Darwin on East Falkland or Pebble Island!!!! Maybe I need some sleep... Sorry to go off topic, but there is something linking the two conflicts and the shape of Sahrani is a for some reason making me think of the Falk lands!!!!!! FYI: It is the 25th Anniverary of that conflict in June 2007... edit: Maybe it;s too early for them to tell us, but could BIS...er...Placebo give us a clue as to whether this based on a real island or a fictional one, and if based on a real island, where we would be able to see it for real on Google Earth?

    Helicopters in AA

One thing is for sure is that there is the smallest possibility that with a patch and or a Expansion pack we will get a lot of new Toys to play with. It happened with OFP so the chances of this happening with ArmA are relatively high. We could see a AH-64 and a Chinook (which is not present either) in a Patch, or more likely an expansion pack...plus there will be a flood of Helicopters from the modding community. Lets wait and see what happens. We might be all surprised by what we get, BIS have shown a tendency to surprise people in the past.

    Sahrani map!8

There is actually an air strip on the eastern coast. You can just make it out on the satellite image, near the town/village of Pita. I had a look around to see what missions I can try and make. Looking at it strategically, the South has a lot less land mass, but is obviously (due to the story line) more valuable due to it's oil resources. The fact that they [sS\US] have 2 RIBB type Boats they'll be making use of Amphibious attacks. I'm guessing any raid on the NS Airfield is going to have to come from the sea. The Air field is protected by the Sierra De Los Pinos to the south and West. Using Low flying helicopters in that area would be risky and probably susceptible to AA attack. Until we get the game I suppose us 505ers will just have to use this map to think about how we can create realistic scenarios...*sigh*. EDIT: I wonder where William Porters Mate, Steve, got Lost!? There are not many Sandbars that you can see in that map, in the south anyway!

No presents this year then Boy's and girls! Did you have to set the date to December 24th/25th for that to happen or has Old Fat Arse been stuck there all the time! (No disrespect to Father Christmas lovers intended)

*Crack* *Crack* *Crack* This effect is certainly going to add to the immersion factor. Thanks for the videos Shadak At least now you'll be able to better register when you are being fired at and how close the shots are getting. To quote from Black Hawk Down: Grime: Why aren't you shooting? Waddell: We're not being shot at yet! Grimes: How can you tell? Waddell: A hiss means it's close. If you hear a pop, then-now they're shooting at us!

I'd get the Tank driver to get us in some sort of cover, bushes and what not, then pop the commander hatch open, stay low and start laying down some suppressive fire, coordinating with the other tanks to try and triangulate the fire at the helo, giving it more targets and a sense of danger that will disorientate it
