for the ones of you who can read french, here's a link of a player telling his first time on this game and then how he learned to play and he describes some battles he was in. it seems to be a very immersive game even if it's pretty ugly!! here the link

me too, never heard of it before. yes it's released for a long time now, 2001. i have looked at the official site and some players' sites and it sounds really interesting. the last campaign lasted 57 days!!!! you can follow the advance of each side on a real time map which shows the front line. Hundreds of cities are modelised... it really sounds good. It's just a shame that there's no demo anymore. If you want to see how it is you have to pay 19,99$. does someone here play this game?? could he tell us if it's worst to try it?

How do i get an ammo crate to start on a building?

to put an ammo crate on a building, just put this line in the init line of your ammo crate with the right height (the last number of the line): this setPos [(getpos this select 0), (getpos this select 1), 2] here, in the line i wrote the object will be 2 meters above the ground. About your briefing, maybe an old pbo version of your mission which didn't have a briefing is not overwritted when you compress your mission. So try to erase the pbo of your mission, it's in "operation flashpoint/MPmission" folder. Then export your mission to MPmission and try to see if it works. If it doesn't work, un-pbo your mission to see if the mission fodler was compressed with all its content. hope it will help you. -

about the littlebirds, maybe you could use the Mi-2pack by NO. It's a small chopper, allowing to transport few soldiers. There's different versions with different types of weapons. i don't remember if there is an unarmed version. -

to add a secondary mid range weapon to a unit you have to use a script like the one in ANDY_BACKPACK. To make it more realistic add a backpack to your unit (andy backpack or the one from fdf mod). Then, when you'll select the Backpack and drop it down you'll be able to pick up a weapon from it.

My clan hires a dedicated server at klan-host.com. The server is running under FDF1.2. Few days ago we asked them to make mod folders and since we uploaded the addons in the mod folders. since the change was done nobody went on the server to look if it worked well. i tried tonight and some mission are not playable anymore. I looked on the forum to see if there was answers about such a problem but i only found linux related answers. Our server is a window one. Let me explain you what the trouble is: i log as admin, go to the missions screen. All the missions on the server appear. I select one which is on a custom island and using many addons. I click "ok" then i get back on the slot selection screen with the wrong mission, the default one. i tried with other missions, some are working well but some others which used to work do not work anymore. i noticed something in the way they made the mod folders. we have six mod folders: RUSSIA, FRANCE, USA, DESERT, WINTER and GENERAL. in each mod folder, there's no "Addons" folder. The addons are directly in OFP/operation flashpoint/NameOfTheModFolder. So i have two questions: 1-does the fact that there's no "addons" folder in our mod folder could be a problem and make all the addons not loaded by the game? So could it be the reason some mission needing unofficial addons don't work?I noticed something else. the missions still working are missions using normal units from the game or FDF ones, no other third part addons, so missions needing stuff loaded by the game. 2-We have a lot of addons on the server. All the BAS stuff, OFrP, the FDF mod, marine assault pack, RHS, DKM and many more, could the quantity of addons be the reason for this trouble? I checked the .sqm files of the missions that i can't select and nothing is wrong. All the required addons are on the server, no required addons in the sqm which is not needed in the mission. I feel like the server can handle the addon quantity we put on but at the same time i guess that all missions couldn't be selected, i mean that the problem would be general and not specific to some missions. So i guess it's more a mod folder problems (i hope it's it and not the big quantity of addons). Hoping someone could give me some clue to solve it. Thx.

thx for your replies. When i saw the first time that they forgot to create the subfolder i thought that maybe a dedicated server doesn't work as the clients do. But after this server crash, i was almost sure it had something to do with the missing subfolders. I was sure that guys here could confirm it to me, and you did   . But now i'm still waiting to see if it was the only cause because our server is still down   . thx again. i have an other question. I saw that since we put addons and modfoldes (even if they don't work right now ), the server ping is very bad, something around 200. Before it was around 80. Could too many addons cause it???

thx to answer so quickly. It's exactly what i think, i have my own mod folders with an addons folder in it and i almost sure it is the problem.

you have to look at the empty/camera and empty/support to find the objects. -
what's the exact line you use? If i remember well, the line should look like this: this setCaptive True or this setCaptive False does your line of code look like these?

OFP: first [MAKO] GITTON Laurent i found it fun to have my real name... then now:[HEMP] Lolo it's the short version in french for my name. For other games, the same as on this forum: Laulau. I had this name a longtime ago but since someone told me during an mp game that "laulau" meens "stupid" in a certain language, i keept it for all the "not french" forums. Don't remember in which language or don't know if it's true, but i like it. PS: if you see john goodman during an opf mp game, that's me!!!

i want to edit the mailman's Alpha Spetznaz for my personnal use. I want to change the weapons. So i decompressed the pbo and opened the config. I made my changes, compressed everything to make a new pbo. Then i loaded OFP, everything worked fine. But when i go in the editor to use the modified units they do not appear anymore in the units list. It's the first time i try to modify a config.cpp so it's sure that i miss something important  but i looked for two hours on BIS forum and same on OFPEC and i found nothing that could help me. links to the original and the modified config.cpp: Original config.cpp Modified config.cpp i also tried (after looked how the config was done) to add "new" units. So maybe i also made wrong modifications on it. Hope someone could give me an answer. Thx.

first, thx to have a look at it. Yes, i looked for "east/mailman's-Unit" but the problem is this category doesn't appear anymore whith my modified config file. is there a link between the problem i have and the compression tool i use to remake the pbo?? i thought of it because i don't get any error message or CTD so it's like the pbo doesn't exist... i'm using "PboTool v1.01a". could you tell me which tool you use to make pbo and maybe could you send me the modified pbo (if it's not too big) to see if it works on my pc?

i found another way to do what i want (i should have thought of it sooner), with a small trigger put on the tripwire. But if someone can answer to my question i'll be glad to hear it...

i was wondering if it's possible to know if a flare tripwire is activated or not through variables, so that events can be scripted under such conditions? I looked to FDF forum and the readme of the 1.2 but i found nothing about it. What i want to do is that some AIs react when a player triggers a flare tripwire.

ok. so, first i made a .paa pictures, with the right size (128x128). I first tried on a empty HH-60G. This is the line i put in the init field of the unit: this setObjectTexture [19, "logo1.paa"]; this setObjectTexture [20, "logo1.paa"] My pic was in the mission folder under User/... Then i previewed it in the editor. My pictures were not displayed and i had the "let's roll" pic instead of mine. So i copied the line and pasted it in the other version of the HH-60, still an empty one. I had no pictures displayed on the chopper. I made a last try on the last chopper, the MH-60G (still an empty one). I pasted the line in the init field, previewed it in the editor and there everything worked fine. I had my custom pic displayed on the side of the chopper. A forum member, Mountain, contacted me by PM because he had the same problem, hoping you would have given me an answer. i Hope i gave you the informations you needed. If not, tell me what other specific things you want to know. Thx for your interest. PS: if you want i can send you the .sqm mission file with my pic so you can try with it, if it's usefull for you.
