Playing with friends in one team?
kanotson replied to clawhammer's topic in ARGO - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
That's a pity, a 5vs5 game where you cannot play with your friends in the same team easily, like for instance in DOTA, is kind of disappointing. Apart from that, congrats for a very fun game. It's perfect for fast sessions when I have not much time to play. -

How to Fix Respawn Failure in Warfare2 Editor Missions
kanotson replied to opusfmspol's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Nice, I'll try this when I find time. Bohemia should apply your solution to the core and publish a quick fix. This error has been there in official missions too many months by now! -
ARMA2 & OA's Steam Thread: All Steam Q's/discussions go here [covered by Dwarden]
kanotson replied to gimpymoo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I cannot host multiplayer games either. I have ports 2302 to 2305 (TCP and UDP) open and my friend cannot see my game (and viceversa). Trying to connect directly through the Steam invitation system results in "server not responding" message. My ISP (Movistar, Spain) assures that they are not blocking the ports. Any idea??? Note: We can join to other servers on the public list, with good pings. The problem is at the moment of hosting a game. Both firewall and antivirus are disabled for testing, to no avail. -
This happened to me with 1.05, but good luck!

Lal, I had the same problem. If you wait some minutes (I think until the truck arrives to the russian base) the game resumes and the objective is completed. It seems the scripts at this mission have a lot of lag even in the cutscenes, the same lag that applies to commanding troops, buying units and building the base.
-
My factory was built but I didn't received the message until some time later (due to the lag, I guess). In fact I received two messages. This mission is very bugged, it's a shame, the campaign was very good until this point.
-
I finally got the chopper. If you can't buy it try to give some units to another group, I think that if you have no place to the crew you cannot buy the vehicle (even if you buy an empty one). I'm trying to finish the mission but the lagged scripts are terrible (even if I get killed, my death comes about 20 seconds after), and I'm experiencing my first CTDs... Maybe the lag comes if you play with two factions allied? Too many units for the AI engine?
-
And you play as commander? My mission is as allied with Napa and CDF, maybe it depends on that? I don't think it's about hardware because now I have a good rig, with good framerate: i7 860 2.80Ghz 8 Gb DDR3-1600 ATI 5870 1Gb Windows Vista 64
-
I'm trying to buy a chopper but with no luck. This mission has a BIG lag at menus and command. Everyone has this problem or is just me? I'm playing with 1.05, and every time I open a construction or buying menu I have to wait about a minute for it to open. Every time I give a waypoint to a unit as commander I have to wait about the same time until the waypoint is marked on map. It happened to me before the patch and with an old rig, but now with 1.05 installed and a new i7 it's the same. Every other missions go as silk, but this Dogs of War is a pain!

You can click the Edit button at each difficulty level and see/modify various options, like hud info, map info, extra armor, IA level... I play at recruit but with most options like veteran (except infinite savegames and enemy IA at about 70%). I have head bob around 30% more or less, that way is visible but you can still see the landscape without getting sick.
-
I had Vista 64 (SP2) and updated to Win7. I did not notice any improvement. But other people did. From what i've read, the best OS for Arma2 is XP.

I have a dual core Athlon and a GeForce 8600, and I'd like to be able to run the game at 30 fps at low settings. It only reach 30 fps in the armory. I am enjoying the game at 10-25 fps, but I'm waiting some performance patch or the time I upgrade my pc. My only complaint is that 505 games put in the game box this: Recommended hardware: -Quad Core CPU, or fast dual core CPU, Intel core 2.8 Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ very fast -Ram: 2Gb -Gpu: Fast Nvidia Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 or very fast with shader model 3 and 512Mb vram -Windows XP or Vista Note that they say recommended, not minimum  I tried the demo before and saw that it was not true, but I am a fan of the saga and know that I will play after some years (with better rig!)
-
Same here, and my specs are also near the recommended: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.21Ghz 2Gb RAM Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 1Gb VRAM Windows 7 RC The cpu recommended is 4400+ and gpu is 8800GT, but that would mean my PC can handle the game at normal detail. It's not true, I play at 1024x768 with all options at LOW (except the ones that doesn't make a big difference: AF normal, shadows normal, textures normal, terrain low). I can activate the postprocessing with the noblur mod, without a big loss of performance, but with such a low resolution it's a bit blurry. At the moment the recommended rig is far from what they say in the box. I'll wait for the next patch, we'll see if they can improve performance. Edit: I had Vista 64 before and now I have Windows 7. I haven't notice any improvement. Edit2: Ah, my fps are 8-20 in campaign and 25-35 in armory (if I watch the sky I can have a 50 fps boost sometimes)

Thanks, kju, that was fast! I have just put the savegame ticket in the issue tracker.

Yes, the mission is ULOTC 11 Border Defense. The problem occurs at the beginning: you enter the chopper; when everybody is in, the AI pilot takes off and go towards LZ waypoint. But he never lands, he just fly in circles until the enemy tanks hit the chopper. I play with Arma 1.16beta (with 1.15 I had problems with another mission, ULOTC 03 Attack...the enemy counterattack never came). The island is Sgt. Ace's Everon. I tried with ACE IP before with the same results (plus the problem with the saved games, that's why I tested with Sgt. Ace's)
-
Great to go back to old ofp memories. And there's some campaigns I didn't played back then. Like ULOTC, but...are these campaigns tested? I'm playing ULOTC, and some missions need to be played various times to trigger the end. Now I am in a mission unplayable, I have to make an insertion by helicopter and there are enemy tanks advancing. The heli doesn't land and everytime it is shot down by tanks. It's a shame, because the campaign was interesting.

I don't know if anyone has experienced this, but it's a (¿bug?) that is there since the beginning of time (almost since 1.08 version). Playing coops in the west side versus SLA, if you disable a UAZ killing the crew and use it, the enemy doesn't fire at you (only in very rare occassions). It is even more noticeable at night. Maybe BIS tried to simulate the IA thinking that an UAZ is not a threat at first, but seems that they take their time until they discover it is killing and driving over all his army.
-
It's a good idea, though the IA seems to have problems conquering the independents more than us. But disabling friendly IAs maybe they have more time to get stronger. I have tried SLX, but it is very laggy, it has some errors, etc. I think FFN had problems also (I don't remember very well). Is there any addon for get better IA and nothing else? SLX and FFN add more features that I don't want, like wounds, effects, etc...
-
I've played the mission various times with two friends, we versus the AI, one of us as commander (we like to play private coops), and though it's very fun, it seems very very easy. The IA takes towns very slowly and it is no match. Even the independents are more problematic because their continuous spawns. I don't know if the IA could be programmed better, or maybe give them some advantages with a difficulty setting at the start, but right now I think this mission it's no very replayable in coop mode. We used to play mfcti and crcti in flashpoint and the IA was a lot more aggresive.
-
Thanks, that worked. At least now the fps is more continuous. From my experience, the 8600 gives more or less the same performance than 7900 (although it supports DX10). I was happy with my 7900 but it got burnt (it was an OC version, and did not last more than a year), so, I bought a new one, not too expensive.
-
I don't know if this is patch related or OS related. I've just moved to Vista with a new graphic card, and I have noted that vegetation has a lot more fps drop in any shader level above the lower. XP - Gforce 7900 -> around 25-30 fps looking to a bush Vista x64 - Gforce 8600GT -> 9-10 fps looking to a bush In places with no or little vegetation -> 30-50 fps in Vista Maybe the last optimizations in the patch only affects some rigs?

Coop 12 Dynamic Sahrani: SABOTAGE
kanotson replied to Przemek_kondor's topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
I've searched for saving in multiplayer. I know it was posible in Flashpoint, there was a coop campaign made by SoW (Sinews of War) where you bought equipment and was saved for the next mission. I've found a mention to it in this post. It seems Kutya has used it in his GDCE campaign, although this campaign is SP. If it is not possible, I think the option of a codepass would make the trick. -
Coop 12 Dynamic Sahrani: SABOTAGE
kanotson replied to Przemek_kondor's topic in ARMA - USER MISSIONS
I tried this yesterday with a friend, and I can say this is a great mission! Since Dynamic Afghanistan I looked for a coop version. I would only add a few things to reach the perfection: -Add random small patrols in enemy territory to make the travel a little bit more dangerous. -It seems that when you complete a mission all the enemies disappear even if they are near, so the extraction is very easy. Maybe if they disappear only when you complete the NEXT mission? or when you get the new orders... -If possible, a save option. I don't know if it's technically possible, but if not, maybe you can generate a "password", like in old games. So, you can view the code at base and in next session typing it you resume the mission with the points and time of mission. -
There's two aspects I think that must be corrected in the final patch: 1-Voice over net (why it worked perfectly on Operation Flashpoint and now it is so bugged?) 2-Friendly AI. They get stuck a lot of times, they doesn't obbey the orders (a lot of times they just stand in place and you cannot order them to move, other times you say "4, fall back to formation", but it is said something like "4, follow 4" and he goes nowhere). This is very frustrating.
