still modeling, I finished windows and front glass, actually I'm working on inside. Its long way before any release, I had to finish model, next UV and textures, next import to O2, make lods, geometry and proxys, write config, test and so on. I cant even say how far it is

thanks nephilim and DaSquade for opinions and help here comes some close-ups I actually started to optimize things and I'm trying to get rid of those bad polygons on hull and engine.

thanks all for opinions and materials, it is very helpfull. I did not model front cowling now, because I wanted to make couple versions of Kiowa Warrior. I have so much photos and plans now (thanks guys one more time) that I could not miss it even if I want Anyway, for me it looks like part putted on original engine. That way I can model old version and add this cowling later and I have 2 versions then More things missing: chaff dispenser behind engine, most of the antennas, couple of parts on hull sides and so on. Dont worry, I'm aware of those small things missing, my idea is to make as accurate model as possible. And - as bonus - couple of screenshots of details. cockpit (inside) and front antennas taken from Franze OH-58 for OFP. At the moment I dont know if I will make my own or ask Franze for permission to use. There is too many faces now, I'm planning to optimize it shortly after finishing main mesh. Anyway I'm proud that hull, engine, tail and cockpit are connected and are closed mesh, I tried to not make interpolating polygons, which IMO dont look good later. Actually I'm reading some tutorials but cant find definite answer to my Optimizing problem. If someone here is modo-master and could point me some tricks, I will be gratefull.

in 3ds max : Optimize in modo: Reduction tool its different algorithm than 'reverse subdivision'. Program has to calculate which faces can be merged without destruct of basic shape. In most cases you can set some parameters like percent of edges which has to stay or how many faces you like to be gone (uh, sorry for language)

yes I do, but I have too low experience in that program. Actually I have some problems with bridging closed splines and sometimes even opened edges... Anyway, there is always possibility to make faces manually.

ok, I have most of the materials from www.kiowapilots.com and other sites. Most of the blueprints are small and not detailed. If anyone has more detailed and highres blueprints, it will be helpfull.

Theyre not built on the same engine. people still dont seem to understand. Arma is based on a souped up ofp. its ofp 1.5. Arma2 wich is game 2 is based on a totally new engine. just because the graphics look like arma currently doesnt mean theyre the same. theyre just placeholders atm not so sure about this. Afaik engine is like branched tree, where Arma is one of the branches and Arma 2 is another. Engine is the same, but is is modified as development goes. Cost of making new engine is much bigger than modifing old and you will have less bugs because of modification than creation.

I tried, it works really nice, many options to modify, calibrate movement. You just need good webcam, fast and configurable- my low-priced Thrust webcam couldnt work at evening, 8 fps after analising is far too low. Anyway if you have a webcam, check it - Arma doesnt need anything to run it, it works just like that

wrong news is about size of the new island - Forrestal said to me that new island is the same size as Sahrani but its not island, its just terrain copied from Czech's maps and you can go out from map endlessly. On movie nr 4 you can see action "Talk to ..." - in the moment where enemy soldier kills player. Its like you can talk to him at the time when he's shooting you

I made backup (8 dvds) of OFP addons, ini's and disks Actually I have only arma installed if we talk about games OFP deserves a nice place on shelf and it gots one here.

I will buy it even if its only some retextures and some new missions. Just because I'm sure there will be some improvements in engine/code and I'm sure it will be must-have version for MP playing next day after release. Even if you think that Arma is bugged and maybe not finished, that so called 'expansion' pack can and probably will be the next, big step just like Resistance was. And for mercs on screens - they're just great. I can imagine Jagged Alliance' like campaign with them, something with deep atmosphere, great scenario and micromanagment. Actually, I dont care how much it will cost, just tell me when and where I can buy it

i'm using GPS in two available modes: toggle and show. Toggling means that you have small gps on left side of screen, but showing is a big GPS on screen' middle. Actually second option is better for me, it obstruct view only when I want it to, its big and gives me alot information about surroundings. I can even land a chopper between trees using gps and instruments. I dont think adding zoom buttons or keys will be faster, maybe in toggle mode, but not in simple show mode.

really nice I like many big parts flying away during explosion, it looks like aircraft is really braking apart is it have to be addon or mission scripted?
