I had to setup a new laptop of a family member running win8 and I never experienced such a bad operating system! I didn't know where to find anything and I felt completly locked out from the computer. It was like: "You're allowed to press these four gigantic buttons, but I won't tell you how the rest of the system works". It took me 15 minutes to find out how to leave the freakin' mail application. Considering the amazing workflow I have with Win7 I wouldn't even take money from Microsoft the run that software on my computer.

Not many days left and they still lack quite some money. Even though this doesn't look bad, I still think it was pretty stupid to come up with this after the bombastic revelation of Star Citizen... -

Justice or not - When they registered the website in may, they where first. I can't see how another enterprise can go and catch the name. :-/ -

http://www.st.com/internet/com/press_release/c2701.jsp As you can see, there is no major shift to LENR by this company. Your strategy is based on picking those information that fit into your theory - instead of adapting the theory to the information available. Judging by the amount of information in the internet you'll always find some tiny bits that fit. Enough to present them in some kind of convincing manner. -
Of course its a psychological effect. The same effect like lighting dark places. So that people don't even get stupid ideas. Thats why I like it. :)

Regarding the level of aggression in public transportation during the last years I'm glad everytime I see a video camera in my bus.

I don't understand your first quote and you simply have no evidence for me being wrong. You're a typical representative of todays online generation who can't put clear and provable arguments on the table. So instead of just writing some incomprehensible blabla, show me your arguments to prove your point. Even if I don't agree with Walker - at least he is using some kind of scientific language. I never said anything about the true effect regarding the discussed topic. (I even approve of Walkers method using steam to kill parasites - way less complicated than using genetically changed stuff) I'm just pointing out flaws in the design of the study and that you can't use it as SCIENTIFIC fact. -

All kind of articles are published in "respected" publications. That doesn't make them more valid. These magazines need money, too. Do I have to say more? I don't quite understand you but I guess you mean the methods? They used some weired regression analysis. This kind of experiment could easily be analysed with a simple t-test. But using some complex models already shows that valid statistical methods didn't bring the desired results. ONE STUDY! You clearly don't know the term publication bias. It means that we have for example 20 studies about one topic. Taking a 5% confidence level, one study could only BY CHANCE become significant. The study gets published, all the others don't, since they didn't find the desired results. And you clearly don't know much about statistics at all. You can't prove that there is no difference. Thats something about Alpha and Beta errors. Its statistically NOT POSSIBLE to prove that there is no difference. And again, showing no significant results means --> no publication. Same point. They used rats that suffer many times more from cancer than normal rats. The results are not comparable. Same point. -

I think we already talked about the validity of the study. You don't seem to know a very common problem with "scientists", Walker. MOST OF THEM DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE STATISTICS OR HOW TO PLAN A PROPER EXPERIMENT!. Period. I can tear all studies using structure equation models apart. I can tear all studies using some weired regression models apart. I can tear all studies apart that don't make proper use of control groups, group sizes or the requirements needed to use statistics AT ALL. There are other effects, as well. Alpha inflation, publication bias ... the list goes on and on. You can not trust these studies. -

There are some single books playing in the transition time between Episode VI and the real New Republic era. Its a small space of roughly 20 years and there are already 5(or 6?) Timothy Zahn books in there. I'd love to see Luke meeting Mara for example :) + There is one book (I don't now which one) also out of the Trawn era (Original Thrawn + his clone) in which Luke travels into the unknown regions to find an old Imperial base (where he has to fight with Mara) and in which it says that the Imperator predicted a great threat for the galaxy in the future (Yuuzhan Vong) and that the Imperium was already fighting their scouts in the unknown regions.

I don't see a problem. I love the expanded universe and though I already know the stories (which many don't) I'd love to see an Admiral Thrawn Story. Or the Outbound Flight Project. I guess the three other following series' are too long for three films. New Jedi Order? - 20 Books! Legacy of the Force? 7 books. Fate of the Jedi? Again 7 books. The only trilogy remaining is the Dark Nest Trilogy (except for the first 3 Thrawn books) I think the most elegant solution would be books between Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi, because the main SW characters are roughly the same age as their counterparts are today. And the younger ones (Jaina Sola, Ben Skywalker for example) could do the fighting...

Can't wait for Episode 7. The books are like 100 years ahead of the movies and I'd love to see a new story. :)
