[CAMP] John - A Rambo Medley
Rough Knight replied to mondkalb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
It's a pity this can't be fixed with a roll of duct tape : P When you play the mission you will know what I mean...it totally cracks me up every time....The stuff is Gold!!! -

I have found the problem. I will contact Mondkalb so hopefully he can re-release it fixed. I am not sure what has to happen to the bikey files as some files of the campaign require modification. I will send Mondkalb a PM tonight...I have to go out now. -
I tend to agree with the thread starter. The name never grabbed me from day one even though I love flight sims too. It doesn't quite make sense as 'Take on' is typically used in the context of a sentence, not a short statement or name as such. How about a community competition for a name? Give us some criteria and we can help with some idea's?

Ok...I have had a bit of a look. Seems a waste to have this unplayable. I hope you don't mind Mondkalb but I unPBO'd your campaign. The problem comes about when the speech is called. ie.. Trautman_Char say3d "Trautman_01"; playmusic "Trautman_01Mus"; titletext ["Okay, son. It is very easy.","plain down"]; sleep 3.5; if I comment out the say3d line...the mission plays but you don't get the lip sync. First of all I wasted my time by resampling the sounds to 32khz thinking the sample rate may be too high. The rate is 48000hz on some of the files..I don't think thats a problem. Could the .lip file cause the problem when it is called with the say command? Pretty unlikely. The only other thing is if it is declared wrong in the description.ext. It all looks ok for me. ie class Trautman_01 : John_01 {sound[] = {"\snd\Trautman_01.ogg", 0, 1};}; Only thing I can think is that does the 'trautman_01' in the above line need to be declared as a string? If you can live without lipsync I could provide a non-lip sync version provided Mondkalb agrees, but I would rather see it fixed properly.... hopefully we can solve it and restore it to its origional splendor : ) Thanks Rough Knight -

Anyone figure this out? I tried to play it last night with 1.1 and CTD when the first dude speaks. Maybe the sound files need a little tweaking somehow. Seems a waste if it could be resolved by someone who knows how? -
Implement a better more user and time friendly interface for selection of mods. Even switching between scenarios can require mods to be changed. Perhaps an auto-detect mechanism that could call mods when required would be able to be achieved. This would be the best. Then you wouldnt have to quit and deactivate a mod that you had open for one scenario in order to continue on with another that you had proviously started because a mod is missing or extra. It is a pain at times to have to shut down your game to turn on a mod. The new mod interface introduced with A2:OA is a step in the right direction....but I still hope it can be improved. I am not sure what the implications of this are from a technical perspective though. Thanks Frosty

ArmA 2 Game Launcher
Rough Knight replied to SpiritedMachine's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : Community Made Utilities
Hi SpiritedMachine, Do you know of any reason why MSI afterburner does not detect ARMA2 running when launched with your launcher. If I launch directly from the .exe or a direct shortcut to it, it works fine as it should. Just doesnt in my case at least through the launcher? Here is another thread detailing the problem more or less. Thanks Frosty -
One killer in multiplayer for me is AI lag. Totally redcuces the experience for me when the AI skip along, I am not sure what causes it, but most Australian servers experience it for whatever reason. I have learnt to live with it, but hopefully something can be done to fix it.

I have my E8400 overclocked to 4Ghz, and it runs very well. I think the biggest difference was noticed in boosting my RAM speed however. Overclock was unstable with my 800Mhz dual channel memory. I upgraded to 1066MHz and noticed a big difference.

G'Day mate, Takistani Peacekeepers I haven't played this so don't know what it is like but you could always try it and leave feedback for the mission maker and others who may like to try it. Thanks Frosty

Looks nice as usual meatball. Where you learn to do this by the way? I get very blown away by how quick you have achieved a lot of the things you have. I suppose you get faster the more you do? -
Arma 2: Namalsk Crisis
Rough Knight replied to Sumrak's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Nice work Sumrak. I started the campaign last night...all went very well (I completed up to mission 3). The campaign is very atmosheric, ...brilliant like all of your work. Thanks very much for your time in making this...I will very much enjoy my time playing it. A few typo's in the briefing are the only faults to report. Thanks Frosty -
[Answered] MSI Afterburner and ARMA2 compatability?
Rough Knight replied to Rough Knight's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just in case anyone else has the problem, after some further investigation I found that if ARMA2 is launched through a launcher, MSI afterburner by default doesn't seem to initiate. That is...at least on my machine. If I launch directly from the game executable or a shortcut to it, MSI Afterburner works perfect. I am not sure of the work around for this yet, I will post back if I find something. I am using Spirited Machines launcher, I am not sure how a launcher would access the executables? If the launcher uses the executable which I assume it does because you have to tell the launcher where they are, I don't understand why it wouldn't work. Thanks for the info too Dwarden! Kind Regards Frosty -
[Answered] MSI Afterburner and ARMA2 compatability?
Rough Knight posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi Guys, I use MSI afterburner to alter the fan speed profile on my GPU. In ARMA2 as it is so demanding this works well. The OSD server however does not seem to work. I also like to use it to display FPS, GPU temp and GPU usage. On almost every other game this works other than ARMA2. Does anyone know how to make the OSD work or does anyone else use it...surely I am not the only one? There are some settings concerning application detection which I have tried all kinds of combinations to no effect. The other thing is, would BattleEye see MSI Afterburner as a potential hack as I got banned from Bloododin and Hull_Creature insurgency server. I thought it may have been because of my BattleEye installation, but am wondering if it could be MSI Afterburner OSD being considered a hack as it is writing something to the OSD? Otherwise, I have no idea why? Thanks Frosty -
[Answered] MSI Afterburner and ARMA2 compatability?
Rough Knight replied to Rough Knight's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks for taking the time to confirm that this works. I tried it on my work machine and MSI afterburner OSD is fine. There must be something else causing the problem on my home machine. I guess what made me ask the question was this extract from the MSI afterburner readme. Thanks again Frosty -
[Answered] MSI Afterburner and ARMA2 compatability?
Rough Knight replied to Rough Knight's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks PVP, I will try using the detached display as you suggest. I have no doubt it is working in the background...its just not overlaying the OSD to the game screen. This is how I set the OSD to work: I go to "Settings" > "monitoring" > Highlight required item then check "Show in On-Screen display" Works in most games [utilizes the riva-tuner statistics server], still no luck with ARMA2. I will keep trying, otherwise if anyone can get it to work...please let me know! Thanks Thanks -
I have the PS3 Eye as well. It seems to work very well in low light conditions. I guess price came into the picture when I bought mine...it is quite cheap for a high frame rate camera. Some downsides are however: a). No mounting options other than on the desk. I sit mine underneath my monitor. b). Only two zoom settings. No adjustable zoom. Other than that great camera for this purpose. I don't use a webcam for anything other than FacetrackNoIR, hence did not want to spend a lot of cash. I had a logitech camera before this, but by default it was very average in low light. I tried remove the UV filter but failed and killed the camera. Therefore I bought the PS3Eye and have had no regrets. V1.5 and lower run the EYe at 30Hz, but I received a beta of 1.6 and the Eye by default runs at 50Hz : )

Well I think that is the problem then, although I am not sure why!

FreeTrack is the controller you should have to activate in ARMA2. Are you sure the controller is TrackIR not Freetrack?

ArmA 2 Game Launcher
Rough Knight replied to SpiritedMachine's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : Community Made Utilities
Gday SpiritedMachine, I use your launcher exclusively, thanks for making my life much easier. I have some questions and possible problems however. 1). Running game as administrator. Is it possible to do this with your launcher. The issue I have is that battleEye doesn't seem to update unless you launch the game as administrator? I have been kicked from at least one server due to battleEye not being able to be updated. 2). In the favorites server section, if you try arrow down your favourites before it has pinged the server and listed the information, it throws an unhandled exeption error on my machine. If you select 'No' or Cancel' it bombs you out of the launcher. Not sure if this is specific to my machine. See the spoiler below for error details. Once again, thanks for the great work, perhaps these issues are specific to my machine somehow. Anyway, your help would be much appreciated. System Spec: Windows 7 Enterprise E8400 Core 2 Duo HD5850 4 Gb ram 1Tb Sata HD Thanks Frosty -

This machine will be the bomb when it is released. Heaps of great features. -
Is Emery really banned? What would he do to deserve such great punishment? Is a shame if its true as I was looking forward to this mod.

Rough Knight replied to Ghost.'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hey Ghost, I really like your project. It already looks very polished. I must have missed this release with ARMA1, so I look forward to some fun missions with the Insurgents trying to capture the US forces most advanced and secret weapon : ) Thanks for the update.
