  1. posted a ticket to ati and their response was a copy-paste of their support page ... very dissapointing. But it seems that my problem is gone. Just did a format and installed xp sp3 and all the same drivers/programs i had previously, but i dont think sp3 solved it... it was like always a mysterious "ghost in the code" error.
  2. i can set fan speed with 8.8 in profilename.xml!!? It appears that the problem might be elsewhere.. i ran memtest overnight and 2 errors appeared, now if i just knew if faulty system ram can cause this kind of graphic related errors.. I still have to run the test at non-overclocked settings.
  3. yes ive already upped the fan speed and temps are ok ~55/70. I dont think its faulty vram because i can run stuff like crysis & 3dmark for hours without any problems but.. does anyone know a program to test vram? (atitool doesnt work)
  4. I am having a lot of trouble with my hd4870. Every 5 minutes i get that polygon and texture mess and the game starts to lag badly. Impossible to play arma at all... Info:3,2ghz dualcore,3gbram,gigabyte hd4870,xp sp2, freshly formated system with new hdd and all the newest drivers. Currently catalyst 8.8beta,but 8.7 was the same. This does not occur in any other games(eg crysis) and arma was running fine with my ol 7900gs. However on very low setting this does not seem to appear. Any ideas or do it just have to wait and hope for better drivers and game patch?

    Hardware and settings for ArmA

    I am having some serious issues with my new hd4870... I cant even play 1280*1024 high because framerate drops below 20 and also very often stuff turns into a "polygon mess". http://img221.imageshack.us/img221....MG] Anyone else have this problems with 1.14 and a hd4x series card?

    @ Invex Digitex 2007 something like this was said - better shader for dynamic lightning (Shader 3.0) - dynamic shadows, really real light But there is only 1 ss of ArmaII with lights at night and i dont see anything cast a shadow. http://www.armedassault.com/pic_arma2/ArmA2nightfight.jpg Hope we will see shadows from all light types someday and a nice feature would be if AI could detect shadows

    Ragdoll

    A easy solution for the "flying dead" is dismemberment... simple like used in slx mod. Man receives a high damage,man is deleted,body parts are spawned, at least i think it works like this. I have even blown up 30 men at once and no lag with this. And more violence is always better Personally i would like to see some simple ragdoll, but there are many more important features the team needs time for.

    is anyone translating the article or was everything important said already? The vechicles are looking photorealistic but everything else needs a little more work. For example in this pic http://games.tiscali.cz/reviews/arma2brddojmy/img22.jpg the infantry just ruins it... can anybody tell what is wrong or what are they missing? About enterable buildings... arent all enterable? In a building desturction video i think they showed shooting holes in a "non-enterable" building, but yea we would prefer doors I hope they make it easy in-editor to add dialog options to npcs so we can ourselves make a living world easily. But its already more then i was hoping.. good job BIS!

    Ai needs fixin!

    truerange and 6thsense ai fix make the longrange detection and engagement more realistic but in close distance its totally unfair. Eg: Ghille sniper,night,grass,hiding in tree and bush formation, enemy has no NVg-s and after 1 shot and some 1 minute wait they know my exact position. And supressive fire scripts/mods make it even worse. So stealth is useless with the current ai.

  20. what i would like to see how someone shoots a m136 from a BH and then the passangers are injured/dead or the heli goes down But thats something we will never see probably Most likely they will implement something similar as seen in the VBS1 demo videos... shoot main weapon from a fixed position. I think using binoculars there shouldnt be a problem. Dont think it will be possible to throw grenades.. but hell it should be! Everything should be possible... the player has to decide whats stupid and will get you killed. They should have both... these fixed firing positions and freely walking on moving objects. The AI can use the fixed positions then and the player can choose between those two. Just my thoughts and speculations

    we need shadows from every light! that would make night missions more realistic. If possible AI should also be able to detect soldier shadows.
