another vote for an option to turn hdr off. and grass on/off so on MP all ppl can play with grass and hdr off = more fps, better game. those that prefer hdr and grass can still leave it on

now i finally made it without dying! i like that swift sweep mission very much, as it always turns out a little different untill the cleanup part of remaining prone guys comes up. this time i tossed grenades everywhere and knew where they hide. 3 AI of my squad dying bcs of stupidity. but after that clean run on next mission cutscene ALL soldiers fall dead, this time without any damage texture on.. so the problem is still there for me. if you say now i have to make that mission without anyone dying.. i dont think i can do it - but this one is my personal fav already, played it about 20 times, and was not bored, so maybe ill make it:)

i agree, ai needs to be better, but there is a partial workaround which did work as i played the pmc campaign: in your armaprofile search for precisionFriendly=0.500000; precisionEnemy=0.350000; and adjust to your likings. these are settings i used and it was posted before here in the forum. firefights take longer as shooting precision drops.

Getting wounded on disembark or certain obstacles sometimes you get wounded when disembarking from AT stationary guns, leaving you in a stand up lay down loop on the gun. happened also when i landed near a fence and ordered ai to disembark, some dropped on fence and were left wounded only able to be prone

very nice campaign! simple, yet convincing and fun to play (better than the original arma campaign) but i encountered some bug after the clear town on ramadi mission, in the cutscene before the last ramadi mission, some soldiers immediately fall dead, including me. when mission starts, im dead on the ground and cant do anything. i tried campaign-cheat and reverted to that mission, but same problem, this time all soldiers were dead but one. but since most of the annoyances are due to a bug in ai (cant go in boat wtf) and arma in general its excellent work very nice!

arma looking good, but loading screens(hots) & main menu look horrible. maybe they can be updated to look like ofp?? with new title "Operation Flashpoint 1.5 aka ArmA" and the old font in main menu instead of pictures. and loading screens should be no screenshots, loading screens should be black. good idea? -
ok, so i used some packet sniff program and found out how you need to configure your router to play with a low ping. you need to map the arma server youre connecting to, usually 2302, to your port 2304, where arma client receives data, so external port 2302 to internal port 2304, udp protocol. remember to forward these ports in your firewall too. now i have 20 ms ping and no desync (before 200-800) but there is a slight chance thats total bullshit im writing here and i had just bad luck with servers before, since the gamespy way of telling connection quality doesnt seem very reliable.

what sucks: physics are bad like in ofp tanks go 8kmh uphill, 200kmh downhill, when taking a corner with high speed it slides like on ice, they mow down a forest with no sound soldiers fly up like a rocket sometimes when hit with rpg or similar choppers dont crash 50% of times, instead they lay on ground in all kind of fancy positions, not exploding damage model is bad like in ofp only thing which have changed are that you can screw a single tyre when driving against a road sign and similar. it gets a weird rust texture then, and car only move 8kmh, like in ofp, just without texture change destruction in general for vehicles means, they suddenly swap the whole texture to rust, and the model stays the same, some fire and smoke and a ground-hit-texture. but texture, fire and smoke soonly disappear and theres just the rust model grass in current state sucks... going prone is useless now 99%, you better crouch, because you cant see anything, but ai can see you. grass is everywhere thats not sand, city or road helicopters, look and fly weird while especially when flying in 3rd person AI gets stuck very often, cant get into vehicles, is unable to drive vehicles to specified locations, doesnt react to commands you can get stuck in some places no reloading / change weapon while moving the bigger northern part of sahrani is quite unspectacular. explosion radius of rpg, ags30 and satchels seems to be too low tracers look very bad shooting sounds of weapons sound bad, with a few exceptions shilka doesnt fire four barrels, just one single barrel like in ofp to get in a vehicle you have to find a tiny spot, where the sign appears, too difficult choppers dissappear randomly units in distance move choppy like they have 3fps, in sp and mp no tweaking options for networks and graphics, only basic graphics settings sounds of vehicles are either too loud or too silent loading screen when switching to map and back, sometimes you have to wait 5 seconds to get back in game the good: soldier models and animations look very nice movement and overall control good like in ofp ironsights and weapon models look very good vehicle models look very nice overall the game looks very good and runs fine even with many units on screen, i tested with 32 tanks and 128 soldiers, and little fps impact compared to ofp max group size is much bigger join in progress works fine game runs stable, even with many alt-tab computer: a64 3800 dual core 1gb ram gf px7600gs pcie 256mb, slightly overclocked winxp, clean system settings: 1024x768 4xaa 4xaf terrain low objects normal textures low shaders very low shadows low so it will be a very good game when modded right and when its a little more patched, i dont regret to have bought it

which ports do i need to open to play arma mp with a router?

so i am behind a router, with 2mbit dsl and in all arma mp games i get quite a bad ping and desync. battlefield and other games used to give me fast pings of 30-90. now i have read something about routers and gaming and maybe arma auto-configures itself for lan settings, since it only finds the 100mbit network card, therefore overloading my connections. is there a way to cap the bandwidth? i looked in arma cfg and armaprofile, but nowhere i find some settings to adjust network settings. did i miss something? is it done with a startup parameter?

if i get a dualcore cpu can i then run arma as server on the one core and client at other core?

in almost all screenshots and videos of armed assault you see the white overlay crosshair which is going wider now when moving.. as in ofp this crosshair is quite useless cant it be disabled?

realistic controls are not cumbersome, they are dead easy and simple as can be to provide the soldier with an effective weapon.. duh

so finally starforce is not a matter of me buying the game or not, its how i regard bis and his publisher in future as game developers.

i have had 2 games that had its place on my several changing systems over about 5 years now: ofp and unreal tournament i bought both and it was nice they both had an exe which didnt need a cd in drive. so you dont need copy protection. its just annoying. if a game is good, it will be bought guys that download every game usually dont really play the games.. theyre just downloading and fiddling around with the game for some hours maybe. so if they couldnt download it as warez why should they buy it? they just download another game they would not have bought... so flashpointbeta.exe and unrealtournament.exe are 2 really good ones, lets try to make armedassault.exe another good one

just turn the crosshair off, its not necessary at all it looks bad anyway and shooting is much better in optics view btw i use inverted mouse too and dont understand what freak you out on the settings. the dead pan?

hi! i got some tanks addons and would like to know how much armor they got, what firepower etc, to make some comparision for balanced cti map. i already tried to depbo but this gave me only a folder with pac and paa files which i suppose are gfx and 3d model files. so where is the unit statistics stored?

if the game can be purchased on cd and no steam files are required to play the game, they may releasea special internet version over steam, which ill certainly wont buy.
