tried ultimate upgrade - still wont work, and game is real before anyone says anything

how do i do that, i didnt get the adaptec thing as i wasnt sure if that was just for adaptec drives

read the faq, no help there as i have a nice and simple sony cd-rom drive. and i have ran the install checker and it says that all files are in order. any help !
