First, Thanks BIS for the release of ARMA. I was not very satisfied by some of the weapons in ARMA so I have decided to redesign some of them. My first project is the M9. The default one was too poor. Will work on other guns in June including a new acog and a better aimpoint (specially when you aim at close distance). If one weapon is unrealistic in the game let me know (do not know all arma guns yet). Thanks. M9 with real beretta markings ... work in progress... (I'm new to modding)

great however I don't understand why BIS is not doing the VRAM flush automatically. They could detect if your character is idle, check the VRAM usage and flush. Doing it manually is not very good programming.

I'm opening this specific thread for people who cannot launch the game at all when using the patch 1.08. the other thread is a mess (vista errors, directX errors, VRAM errors, custom mods errors, securom errors...). Assuming all patches were installed correctly and without any error message (full clean install without any addons), please post your full config here. Note: 1/ securom fix (mounted devices registry modification + reboot - remove \\?? in SYSTEM\MountedDevices) doesn't fix the problem. 2/ changing openAL version doesn't fix the problem 3/ uninstalled the game, removed all arma config files and install dir then installed 1.04 DVD (working), 1.05 patch (working), 1.08 patch. 4/ sptd.sys removed (if any) doesn't help. 5/ arma_server.exe is working for some. 6/ specific to Windows XP. 7/ AnalysisLog.sr0 sent to SECUROM June 12 (no fix yet) 8/ Removed DVD DRIVE in the device manager and re-installed 9/ stressing the DVD drive in PIO mode do not work. 10/ new .EXE (June 20, 2007) from Securom: http://www.securom.com/support....rma.zip May not work with European DVD version. not only. the contrast is not natural in 1..08. BIS said they increased the contrast of light. I think it was a wrong decision. The rendering is not natural anymore (my LCD is hardware calibrated) and sometimes it is even "painful" to watch the scene (too much black with the HDR / hard to see things). Very disappointed.

attn BIS, a favor Please change back the contrast of the light like it was in 1.07. There's something wrong with the contrast and colors in 1.08.

the securom 7001 error is usually resolved by doing the registry fix (link is on the first post of this topic). Is there any exception ?

the latest securom fix released today JUNE 22 works for the European DVD version (!! At last! Thanks securom. *Updating first post.

the latest securom fix may work for Atari users (and a hotfix is in the works) however it doesn't work at all for European DVD users (published by 505 games). Just to clarify.

if you do not get a blue screen or display driver error report after the automatic reboot you may have a temperature problem.

well, I have bad news. The only solution to get it working that I found was to install XP PRO SP2 (I had XP HOME) - installed XP PRO 2 in a specific directory (not /windows) so I may start again XP HOME and copy some files. - installed xfi drivers - installed nvidia drivers - installed arma 1.04 - installed arma 1.05 - installed arma 1.08 Launched 1.08 and it works. Then, I have downloaded all updates and fixes from microsoft update. Still working. So here's the sacrifice: re-install all other softwares and licenses on the new windows. It didn't work for some people (maybe the windows updates must be processed AFTER the installation of ARMA - anyway try to launch 1.08 just after graphic / sound drivers and before installing new software). Looks like Securom has a bad entry somewhere in the registry (I just hope it is not due to the beta patch 1.07 released by BIS) THANK YOU VERY MUCH SECUROM ! Â

it will only fix the problem when people receive a "no disc error". There is still no fix at all for the no boot/no error issue. One week now without any support.

yes it is now ridiculous specially that we do not see any announcement or help from BIS for days. Looks like they are ignoring us. Of course we paid our copy when some pirates are probably playing with 1.08 already.

People who still have the problem please post your full config. It may help identify hardware problems / securom (post only if you receive the no boot/no error issue) - ARMA DVD VERSION - Windows XP SP2 - RAM INSTALLED - PROCESSOR - GRAPHIC CARD + DRIVER - SOUND CARD - MOTHERBOARD MODEL - DVD DRIVE MODEL Thanks.

mathias, how much RAM do you have?

i have deleted all securom reg files/securom data and the program doesn't start. It should at least send an error message no? Maybe it is not a securom problem after all. (I have re-installed 1.04/1.05 and the securom files are back and everything is working). 1.08 is still not working. BIS should address this as top priority now.

One thing I have noticed: c:\documents and settings\admin\securom\userdata is dated May 2007. It wasn't created with the 1.08 patch but since it is in "read only" I wonder if the new patch is able to place the new secuROM files. If any of course. Can someone with a working copy give us the list, size and creation dates of the files to verify?
