The automobile on a roof to put
hollywood replied to nero12's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hmmm...I think he might mean setting pitch and roll. I found one old thread on this but it didn't give any answers. -
I'm not particularly fussed whether or not it's Vietnam based (chances are I'm gonna buy it anyway), however I have my doubts that it will be...after all for a fictional conflict played out over a number of islands BIS could do far worse than go for SE Asia.

That'd be much better (certainly stop any silliness in MP)... could work as the first available action when next to a fence wall, e.g. vault fence/climb over wall etc... There must be a whole range of context sensitive actions that could be added.

Basically more of the same but with... -Better Physics model, coupled with better clipping/CD. -More detailed terrain: streams, ditches, hedges... -Bridges (and generally more choke points etc.) -Larger and more varied urban areas. -Larger ammo loadout and less accurate fire. -AI machine gunners who act like machine gunners. -More varied radio traffic. -A few different damage states for buildings -Oh and any form of decent Artillery I'm sure it wouldn't take much of an improvement in each area to really take the game to the next level.

I couldn't believe the demo when it first came out so of course I was straight down the shops the day it was released...through bouncy tanks, patch 1.27 (and a million others), a 6 month break and now rediscovery...I have to say it is still head and shoulders above pretty much any game of any genre I can bring to mind.

I've not visited here for a while (or indeed played OFP for about 6months) but I'm about to get a new PC and am looking forward to seeing it with decent graphics and frame-rates at last...thing is I've had a look at the patches section of the site and frankly it's moved on so much I don't know where I am anymore. It seems I want the 1.46 patch (I have an original EU copy patched up to 1.4) is anyone else still using this? Is it any good? or should I just go out and buy the new GOTY version (depending on how much it is in the UK)?

Cheers...think I will...I see there's still discussion about OFP2, is it actually anything other than that? Also did anything ever come of VBS in terms of additional vehicles etc? Apologies if this has all been answered before but it's a tribute to the health of the community that it would take more time than I'm prepared to give to search through all the topics.

Right...if I'm thinking of the right mission then after you hit the second shilka a couple of AH1s turn up to knock out some tanks. Problem is they don't see a tank that is unable to fire as a threat so will just leave it sitting there (and the mission doesn't end...least that's what my problem was). You just have to locate and destroy the tank.

If you've got an ATI rage, then chances are you need to turn multi-texturing off via the in-game options...that's if the ground is pale but still has some texture...If it's completely white then most likely your graphics card doesn't have enough memory.

OFP does calculate the effect of gravity on the bullet...aim at a target around 1000m to see (using the M21 )...the bullet will fall noticeably short (it's at range that the dragunov comes into its own as the markings on the scope are much more helpful than those on the M21).

You can get your provisional at 17 in the UK...if you're already driving test standard I gues you could get a last minute cancellation and sit your test pretty much straight away (not sure how it works these days with the written test though...you might have to wait longer) Not sure if your UK licence would count in Europe straight away...got a sneaking suspicion you need to be 21...but again I could be completely wrong...it's some time since I had to worry about being to young for anything...ah well.

Search for waypoints and triggers (and maybe syncronising)...there are a bunch of topics that explain this in more detail than I can be bothered (sorry).
-
Yep...even if the A10s are not in the same group, they seem to perform reasonably (not great though) as long as you call out the target twice (the second time being 'Laser Target xxxx'). Still think they need a bit of tweaking though...

In game there's something very satisfying about manning the gun in the UH-60MG...real wind in the hair aviation (plus it allows for a cigarette break...the importance of which should not be underestimated). As far as piloting goes then probably the AH1.

Cheers...will have a bash at that this evening...I was at work when I started thinking about it so couldn't try it out.

Help needed from those who have beaten the game
hollywood replied to PFC_Mike's topic in OPF MISSIONS
...and if you're at 1.40 be thankful you didn't have to do that mission with one of the beta patches (where the AI had evil ninja sharp-shooting abilities) -
They don't have to be part of your squad...made a mission where you just sit on top of a mountain and let a bunch of A10 (in their own group) decimate an armour concentration before you move in. Although the A10s certainly don't carpet bomb the area they do, over time, do a hell of a lot of damage with the LGBs. It seems the most frequent bombing is acheived by painting the target, calling it out, then calling it out a second time (as 'laser target xxxx'). As soon as the numbers in the top left start heading rapidly toward 0 it's pretty likely that the A10 will bomb the target.
-
Hmmm....The Birdy Song (for genuine murderous rage inducing tweeness)... ...Shadupayaface (or whatever it was called)... ...or what about the classic 'KPMG motivational anthem'...
-
The cannon on the A10 could definitely do with fixing...it's the whole raison d'etre of the bloody thing (basically a big gun with wings). 'bout 10 years ago, while on holiday, I saw a couple of A10s hitting training targets on a beach...we were some distance away but although the damage to the targets was difficult to assess, the noise was certainly impressive.

You can normally get the effect required with a combination of view distance and fog settings (after all you can't really have 5k visibility at the same time as thick fog). Where it is a pain is if you want to start clear and have fog roll in (or vice versa). Does anyone know if it is possible to increment/decrement the view distance over time and if so how?

Close but no cigar...robot steve of the robot army reporting for duty.

Trabant vs Tractor...Operation Vanishing Point (Eastern Block stylee).

I would definitely add more ram...my system reports around 180Meg used by ofp...with the OS on top I'd say that 256Meg is probably the minimum you want to run with.
