WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!
flashburn replied to max power's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Ya ive mangaed to import it in o2, just dont know what the heck im doing. I did take a sample model and imported into max to get proportions right. IE, I never set up meters so my lil ak was a bit large. I can open up my textures in o2 but have no idea if they are applied correctly. Just gonna have to stop trying to guess my way through it and do me a bit O research. What a total pain. -

Made an oops and posted this over in arma 1 thread. The spec map on the magazine is currently..........hmmmmm off but need to finish the defuse before i worry about that. I am having a difficult time getting in game. Have not played with oxygen since like 2003 and have become so use to 3dmax it seems all wrong to me. So bash the old head into the wall until I figure it out. -

Something I have been working on for a bit now. Spec map on the magazine is all ate up, but hay its a work in progress. Been having nothing but problems getting it in game but hope to have all that sorted out soon. -
This makes my point exactly. Admins be careful of banning/slandering players, does even more damage to this community. I went out of my way not to mention what server, not that it really matters; but the damage that this sort of thing can do. In all honesty I really dont care to much about this. Either playing online is fun or its not. I will continue to buy BIS products as I have for the past decade and even purchase extra copies like I did when I deployed to Iraq. Dont ask me how I forgot to pack that for the uber labtop I bought back then. :) Was forced to use DARWARS and was like, oh crap I didnt pack arma, silly me. But BIS pls fix this exploit crap. There's the cheaters and then there's the folks their actions take a big poo on. In the end would I ever want to go back to "THAT" server after being slandered? NO not really. And of course admins need to protect their servers as stated before. Use BE, enable signature checks, and be a proper stand up guy. I was kicked after shooting the admin in the head with an rpk while perched atop a rock at 400 meters. This spawning vics crap is silly, and to be seen doing it!? Teleporting vics? hmmmm netcode perhaps. Well i must be the stupidest script kiddie ever, and to not change name and ID. oh and post on the game forum about just being careful about going crazy with kick/bans. You know, I think Im mildly pissed. Thank gawd i have a life or my one remaining feeling might get hurt.

I was called a "smacktard hacker" the other day and kicked off a server. Have no idea why. Thats what kills me, you have these lil arse hats running around doing stupid stuff in a game and it boils over into some sort of wierd paranoia on the part of admins. Next thing you know, no public multi player anymore. I guess I should be flattered that I am a "smacktard hacker" since i dont play with any mods and am a firm believer in the use of BE. But its always been a problem since ofp, but BE did help, at least for a bit. I guess my whole point is; please server admin type guys, be careful about banning/kicking folks. It does nearly as much damage to the multi community as the handfull clowns who are running silly scripts on your servers.

the .50 cal on the taki m113 now is listed as pkt instead of m2. 2000 rounds of 7.62 firing out of an m2 .50 cal. Dont think that was intended.

ARMA 2: Private Military Company 1.00 released
flashburn replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
the suv with the minigun.....hmmm silly but fun. Major thumbs down on the xm8. The optics chosen for the first missions are really annoying. Dont use cross hairs so using optics means staring at a takis crotch at 20 meters. I ended up dumbing the xm8 and picking up an rpk. Btw, why so many rpk guys in the first mission? I am enjoying the voice acting. The new map is small but once you get down into it, its quite nice. Lots of folds of the earth, good textures, nice dead trees, just wish it was bigger. Felt the same way about utes....wish it was bigger. The story telling aspect is better. Its obvious this is where the bugget and time went. Its a step in the right direction. The mission with the as50 felt more like a tech demo of whats changed in the arma series than an actual campaign mission. Needed....yes, but more thought in design aspect. Im enjoying the dlc so far and, yes i paid for it and ill do it again. Just dont need to rush it so much BIS. You listen to guys who say story and get bashed by people wanting even more content. No win situation. -
hmmm, just follow your team leader around....goes right the various groups..... Throwing smoke, didnt think of that. I just ran up to the 1st group and fired a round over their heads. After that i let the guy with the shotgun do it... Hay ROE said dont kill, didnt say dont shoot.

PMC Campaign first mission (contains possible spoilers)
flashburn replied to Alwarren's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
If your running around like a chicken with its head cut off while mortors are falling around you, then yes, your gonna die. Its like one tube firing a round every ten seconds. Whats so hard about running from cover to cover between rounds? Its everywhere around you. At the very least go prone. Sure, this mission took a couple run thrus to get through. I assumed wrongly that the arty was just another silly script that drops arty "around" you.....imagine my surpirse when it went off on me. Ohhhh KKKKKKKKKKK, react to indirect fire...ya I remember that. -

flashburn replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hmmm baf off sprocket? No patch? I wonder if BIS is going to be doing an all nighter? With what appears to be problems I sure hope they arent getting any sleep....yes im evil. -
Ahhhhh ASV, ahhh! Spent half of my deployment on those. Turret is way too wide. Just be sure to not make the weapons stabilzed (they arent, very ww2ish and no thermals). Oh and make the seats as horrible as I remember lol.

Make AH-64D glass impervious to 5.56mm rounds
flashburn replied to cmorris975's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
omg sanity dealing with the actual values of the mighty attack helos. I think its a first Ive seen on this forum. I have no idea how much armored glass it takes to stop 12.7mm round (let alone an AP round) but I do know it takes at least a couple inches to stop a 7.62 x 54mm round. But im guessing 9 too 12 inches *might* stop 12.7mm ball ammo. I dont think many gamer types just realize how powerful the mighty .50 cal is. It will shred the majority of light armored vehicels out there with no problems. If people are trying to say that a 8 - 15 metric ton armored ground vechicle has way less armor than 5.5 ton helo you might want to think about it. Hell a 50cal can kill a BMP without too much trouble. Most attack helos have redundant systems, like having 2 engines which is why you see manufactor specs of such things as can survive 23mm cannon hits. More likely, a singluar hit too a redudant part. Pretty much everything in the arma series is way over armored in comparison to the real deal. -
Auto-targeting in planes and vehicles
flashburn replied to SFJackBauer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Im all for white with the whole radar thing, yes until idenified. Its the simplist fix with the current limits of the game. All i know is that Ive used the M3 bradleys thermals and the LRAS. While you "see" everything, you really have little idea what the heck your looking at. Your depth perception is a little screwed up looking though thermal sights. Ditto on the thermal weapon sights that we sometimes mounted on our .50 cals while I was in Iraq. Basicly its like is that some guys head sticking up out of a depresion at 300 meters or some fuzzy warm critter at 75 meters? Identifiing what you see is most of the game. And trained soldiers get it wrong more than you would like. well thats my 2 cents....to heck with that tabing crap. Its a hold over from good old ofp and needs to go.
