Lot of Frenchies here. :) I don't have any issues with my 505games copy so far, except that switching dvd all day long is boring.. :rolleyes: But i'm of those who think that securom and deriveted are useless, games that you find by warez do not incorporate those protections so what ? In plus of being useless DRM can sometimes be a big pain on the ass for those who buy their games, in some case pushes people to hack their own games, in others sell their copy and dl the game .. Good quality product with good mp and regular updates with banned serials in, is the only way to make people buy a game. -
Indeed I forgot it too, both Battlezone from Activision were something huge, in the same genre Urban Assault was really cool too. Personnaly I don't deny that first Half Life was one of the best gaming experience I ever had, but I've put here only games I'm nostalgic for and it's kind of hard to be nostalgic when you still play this game, its sequels and their mods, after 11 years. :)

I like much more ACE1 way, but in real if your heard some bad guy at your back, even you lying down, you just turn your back and shoot the mother fucker, I've never been in war but that how i do it playing softair so for me neither Arma vanilla or ACE are realistic..

zeep, ACE have done some really good improvements on that field with Armed Assault, I think you'll have to wait ACE2. :)

I have no best game in mind, so in no particular order. Hidden&Dangerous 1&2, Ofp, Raven Shield, Morrovind, Deus ex, Diablo2 ect.. Blow of heart for Goldeneye, the two Zelda on N64 and Shogo :inlove: on Pc which was my favorite when I was 10 years old, also Giant Citizen Kabuto the single game capable of making me cry from laughing at every cutscene and Freespace 1&2 great space shooter.

I'm totally agree with Uziyahu. I've mentioned this in another topic. In an equity purpose, not everybody has the computer to push the game to 10km and some like me have serious performance issues with Arma2. Sky isn't a performance killer and there is lods .. Note that even with max settings "10km, objects vhigh ect.." every object and unit is occulted after 2,2Km, no matter zoom magnification. I don't know if it possible on this engine, only Bis can say, but i'm certain that lot of people would appreciate such feature in a simulator. -

The Ability to rest support weapons on walls

It's not automatic, you have to push shift-space to rest your weapon. -
The importance of the framerate is very relative to hardware and people ... For casuals used to low framerate it's not a problem at all, but for many others playing with less than 40fps is nearly unplayable while accurate aiming and effective movements are essential in combat situation.. So with my computer, "C2DE8400 2xHD4850 4x1Gb ram and raid0 velociraptor" I can't run the game smoothly on all High settings except fillrate at 100% and visibility 2400. I don't enable msaa cause as a cost for actual good graphics it drasticaly kill the framerate on my machine. "And that in the editor, alone in the middle of Chernarus" Note that my specs are enough to run smoothly Crysis warhead at maximum settings with aa4x in 1440*900 .. My point is not to blame Bis, but it's obvious there is some serious performance issues according to what hardware you own. I'm sure Bis will improve performances in futur patches. But arguing that, right now, Arma2 runs systematically smoothly with something equivalent to recommended requirements is just a big lie from some pathetic egocentric guys.

I remember a video with a boat that was beautiful !! But on my old computer 2400+ and 9700pro it was also a performance killer.. :rolleyes: Edit: After a rapid research on Ofp.info.

Hello, I don't know if it has been mentioned but, 1° Could at least "big" units be visible as far as the visibility is adjusted with different lods while player is zooming or not? Even 2D sprites for optimization's sake would be enough. Kind of disturbing to see moving smoke on top of occulted tanks one km away when your are gunner in a chopper or watching the horizon with googles. "my objects detail is set to vhigh, video memory vhigh and visibility to 2400" 2° I really don't know if it can be added with a simple patch, but I think that it would be really nice to see flying units whatever the distance and how players set the visibility. I think it wouldn't kill performances, I'll definitely enjoy such feature. 3° It seems that you get suppressed by fire when you're covering behind walls or solid objects but not when you are in the middle of grass or makadam, it would be really cool to work on this maybe even add some "camera shaking" and louder supersonic cracks when it's really close from the ears. "see Pr, Dh, Ins" 4° Arma2 really needs an option to disable mouse smoothing, I constantly disable it in windows and all other games I play. Compared to real life movements are enough limited by using mouse and keyboard, no need to make those even less responsive and inacurrate, I really can't aim effectivly in cqb environment with this on. let's give people a choice. Anyway I love this game, some bugfixing, better netcode and what I've mentioned above and it will as good as Ofp was for me 8 years ago.

Yep, indeed i've tried to hide behind a little wall of rocks while under heavy fire and suppression works well. But, the rest of the time, when there is nothing but grass or makadam around you, it's like I said, there is no suppression effects until bullets hit you body. I hope BiS will fix this, shouldn't be hard since it's already half implemented. :) -

I've done some test on expert, post effects max with troops 100 meters far and from my experience i'm sure that the effects you mention only occurs when you get hit, in first person view it can be confusing since you can take some hits without dying. If people here i've played some other games featuring bullet suppression and supersonic cracks, BiS could improve a lot the immersion here by make the crack much louder when it comes close to the ears and add some shake on the screen as it is in the games i've mentioned. I'm sure mods like ACE2 will fix that but it may be cool to have this in Arma2 vanilla. -

Yaii Project Reality, Insurgecy, America's Army and Darkest Hour all have bullet cracks with some really immersive suppression effects on player, which make the thing much more convincing than in Arma2. -
I really don't care about Esport purposes but, I definitely dislike mouse smoothing, always have, i constantly disable it in windows and all other games, Arma2 still the single i play which doesn't let me any choice, so i hope BiS will add an option to turn it off. And it clearly doesn't help to realism, compared to real life movements are enough limited with mouse and keyboard, no need to make those even less responsive and inacurrate. As a softair player i can't see what this is supposed to simulate ... So BiS please .. :)
