    Texturing issues

    so Ive fixed the transitions, but Im having great difficulty getting texview to play the game sadly I dont understand the how to apply the 0.5 average color rule for the MCOs, and I cant get texview to output the normal maps as they should. Ive read betons tutorial and ive never used gimp, so its a little useless to me. There doesnt seem to be any texview tutes? I drag and drop my ***_detail_nopx.tga, then save as ***_detail_nopx.paa and it looks blue and purple tiger striped static. ---------- Post added at 10:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 PM ---------- So within a minute of posting i think i fixed the nopx, in Crazy bump (which i will have to pay for in 2 days :( ) there was an option"save normal map with displacement in alpha channel: I turned it to yes and all seems well. I still need guidance on MCOs
  2. Okay so ive come a wee way in making my map. and am trying to resolve the texture problems before progressing. The "rock" texture on top of the mountains is way brighter than the other textures, why is this? Ive used the Paa plugin for photoshop, before i found it is buggy with arma2, could that have messed things up? also i have a blurry as hell gravel texture as seen below. Is this caused by messed up bump mapping? Finally, what are the different texture extensions designate co Normal texture mco ??? nopx ??? nohq ???

    thanks gnome, and again bushlurker, ive remedied the transitions from textures as per the top one i think, however the nopx files were created using an app "crazybump" most nopx paa I find are green, but mine are blue-purple and made the bumping infinitely worse. Im guessing the original good textures were ones i poached and renamed, and the bad ones were messed areound with in photoshop. Now i just gotta fix them bump maps.

    Resolved, the issue was........... the references to files in CfgSurfaces were case sensitive............ I also deleted the space from the probabilitys, but i doubt that was the problem. Thanks a bunch bushlurker, its great to see someone taking the effort to help other people, Next questions 4096, 4096 terrain heightmap.. I hear that object placement goes funky in one corner. of the map, can someone elaborate? my intended project will be quite large but as 2 corners will be desolate desert, i can tolerate a hollow gap of 2x2km or so.

    maps under construction:

    Bamian Province afghanistan. 2-3 years in future (so i can add currently nonexistant poppy feilds),Season Early Spring. intention is 80X80k scaled down to 40X40k, Main feature will be variety in textures, with snowy mountains (some unreachable by chopper) and blooming poppy fields for some colour, as opposed to Takistans look. very good source files, including shapefiles for roads etc, and textures sorted. Im currently working backwards by mastering configs before starting terrain proper. Id love to get the buddha models, a university made some, but ill the terrain to a good standard before enquiring about such things!

    Clutter wont work!

    it must be my workspace, some sources only have buildings2 etc, yet some sources say extract ALL pbos in your addons folder, including non object related anims, vehicles, etc my layers may be a problem..... my materials mask is white black and green, but the tiled layers files show black green and RED?? when i pinpbo, the temp folder has various ca\plants2\clutter\data\ rvmats and paas. so it is being processed somewhere. can bush or oldbear send me a pic of there workspace folder to confirm? if that doesnt work, i need someones elses project and .pew then reimport sat and tex masks. to recombine layers, if i use someone elses project and clutter works, then i know its my config.

    Okay im back, is their a batch way to unbin all the configs in P:\>CA\ ive unpbo all the relevant Arma2 files.. and theres lots of config bins in the buildings and structures Additionally where would i put the expansions files? ( in know about the version confilcts )

    sorry, it mustve reverted with all my cut and pastings from various configs i have backed up. it now reads probability[]={0.09,0.09,0.09,0.09,0.5}; and still no go. i Havent done anything in visitor yet, just imported heightfield, set up satellite grid, imported sat mask and texture mask, bulldozed, and saved as pew and exported as wrp. i then binarised the folder with binpbo, no config errors, ( ive had many in my trial and error) in game the textures and everything work, wondering if theirs something ive missed?

Still no go, the above is my new revised config, i note that i get butterflies etc, probably inherited from UTES. Is their a "plants" required addon im missing? im really stuck.

    So ive ammended the clutterprobability no go.. Anything else glaringly wrong with my config? Im just trying to learn configs first before diving into making a full blown map, so i will add other mods etc later when i get down to business.
