I read nearly every page of the post linked to above- sounds very much like it's a valid problem on ATI's part and not something else going wrong. ATI covering it up isn't much help either- they claim they haven't been able to reproduce the problem once, yet very clearly the problem is out there.[conspiracy] It's very possible ATI knows a great deal more about the driver issues than they'll admit. They're just saying there isn't a problem so they don't have to refund the scores of burned-out cards and give Nvidia a lot of momentum for their next eventual release. A fix will be included in 3.9 discreetly and, ATI hopes, the problems will slip away.[/conspiracy]

They also say now that the 3.9s have a bug where they can also fry your monitor- the card decides to operate at its highest refresh rate regardless of monitor [hugs his ti4600]

Drewchamka can provide some rather good fire control and FLIR stuff.

The new 52.16 Nvidia drivers are very good, except they stripped down mipmapping to improve performance. This makes the textures not look very good at angles or distance, and the effect can be quite noticable. You can get modded drivers that disable mipmapping completely, but I don't reccomend it, no matter how much better it looks.

I don't see the advantage of this over slapping a regular little camera on the gun. CQB would be a disaster with this thing, imagine you have your little rotating arm rotated in one direction, when all of a sudden a baddie comes from the other way. With an SMG or a regular hand gun, you can just point and shoot, but you'd have to bring the little arm to bear as well as aiming the rifle part. Not very good at all, and to top it off it'l cost probably twice as much as the actual handgun it's firing

I just read the Longhorn thing- sounds to me like they've done away with another perfectly good system and replacing it with a 'might or might not work'-type system. Â Well what the hell would we need the adress book for in anything but the Email program !? They go the extra mile to get DOS to work, yet want to make running Linux as painful as possible. Â Lovely. There's a reason nobody's tried an XML-based operating system, and it looks like i'll be sticking with XP for a loong time, and that's assuming Linux doesn't get better.

That's pretty much all the BRDM is, it's classified as a car but just put under the Armored tab. It still can't fire missiles or anything more than a car can do.
