Noob question about enablesimulation and hideobject
Kenai Phoenix replied to Kenai Phoenix's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thank you! It give me more information about what was happening and how to use arma scripting, but I was still having problems with the script. In the end my ArmA 3 was working weirdly, asking about ";" on scripts that were perfectly and other stuff so I made a new installation. In that case I realize I also added on the mod list "Drongos Air Operation" (an awesome mode btw) that could be causing some issues... and it was that. I unloaded and everything worked perfectly. I leave this here in case someone finds themselves with the same issue. Thanks you again anyways! -
Noob question about enablesimulation and hideobject
Kenai Phoenix posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hello! I have been playing with the ArmA 3 editor for a while, but I never got into the scripting part of it until now. I was tying to made a simple mission where the player takes off from a carrier, and then some enemy planes activate. If these planes reach one trigger zone, the mission fails. My approach was a really simple one (Im just beggining): - Make a start trigger zone where the player spawns (The carrier and a little more), and set it up to "any player" and "Not present" - To all enemy planes I added the init code: "this enableSimulation false; this hideObject true" -And on the effect of the trigger, set opposite of these two variables -Set the trigger on the zone were the enemy planes are heading: if "OPFOR is present" then "mission failed" Now, that didnt work, the enemy planes keep spawing and reaching their destination. After some googling I read I could use enableSimulationGlobal instead of enableSimulation. But it didnt work either. I added a "hint" on the player leave trigger to test if it is working properly, and it works as intended: the hint appears when the player leaves the zone. What can be the cause of this problem? there are 4 planes and 2 of them have a co-pilot AI, but I keep seeing them spawning and, if I dont do anything (aka, the trigger doesnt jump) i keep failing the mission meaning the AI somehow got to their destination. I tested this approach on smaller units, so I can see the effects of the code more easily, and it worked. But with planes there is no luck. Thanks, and sorry if this question is really simple -

Is Discord the norms nowadays?
Kenai Phoenix replied to mr_centipede's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
The best advantage that Discord has with other apps like Reddit is having everything in one place, you just open one app/web and you can jump between your different communities. One issue is that you are under the rules of that app/platform, if you have you account banned you lose everything, they can impose moderators to the communities, etc. Other issue in my opinion, with Discord, is that it is just too chaotic: it is a giant group chat so good luck trying to find or follow one topic, it is more fast though. Forums are not going anywhere, so you can always use all of the platforms -
I played the beta demo and now I bought it. It not too expensive so it is worth a try, the crew voices are really top notch. There is a long way ahead of them, there are a lot of improvements they need to do, but i find the game really enjoyable. It is a small team so I give them my support and see how it evolves.

Single Player Help and Honest Opinion on Arma 3
Kenai Phoenix replied to DrGNOLA's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Im mainly play SP missions. There is a transition between the "running and gunning" of other games and the "mil-sim" of ArmA, you are not always gonna know or even see the enemy. Personally, and how Polpox said, unload every mod you have. Some mod like ACE 3 or some AI mods make the game more difficult. I once had a "Pack mod" (aka a mod that just has a lots of mods inside) that had a firing effect that made firing more difficult for a better immersion. So unload everything. Then play the main campaign. It has a good phasing to let you know how to play the game correctly and it is really fun. For more SP missions you can just look around, there are plenty of them, and if you are not feeling a long "walk" until your AO, there are many others random generated mods like create "instant" missions that are really fun: Dynamic Recon Ops, Dynamic Combat Ops and Random Infantry Skirmish come to mind. You can also mess around with the Eden editor and create something cool that suits your likes, it is really easy and fun. So no, you shouldnt call it a day after 45 hours, you are missing A LOT of stuff in just single player. -
Hi! I recently started flying and use more heavy weaponry in the game but I have a hard time targeting objectives to my weapons. I know I have to mark them with T, but when I release/launch them they just go straight ahead. Am I missing a step? Like hold the button for some seconds? Thanks, and sorry for the noob question. I usually play as a rifle man.

I think they sadly choose a bad game mode to start Reforger. Getting into the action was too hard, it was really complicated to find the rest of your team, and other problems. But the worse part was just walk for several minutes to find nothing... the maps were just too big for the amount of player in each server. If you managed to be with your squad you will probably just have to fight like 3 AI in one post and that's it. The enemy players are in another part of the HUGE map.The most fun I had with this game was with the Rush player-made mode that was "like" battlefield. Yeah, it was less ArmA, but I could be fighting with other players. I hope they focus a little more in Singleplayer content to make people install it and then, when more people is playing it, the servers will have a higher population
