Regarding the communicating with aliens specifically. You have to hit the right frequencies, in the right order. See one spike, there's no doubt which one to broadcast on. See two, then it's a 50/50 chance (unless you've chosen the wrong one before). With pen and paper, write down each freq you choose to respond to... When you hit a wrong one(the audio response will signify a bad one, and the spikes will all die off except for the main AFO one), scratch it out.
