Thanks man, that explains it and helps me to work around it! 👍 -
Helicopter will not land and load troops in multiplayer

Sorry for the necro, but I just ran into the same issue: I have an AI transprot helo that is local to the server and is supposed to pickup a group that is lead by a client player. The helo won't wait or even land for the group to get in. In SP it works flawless. Is there no way to make this work in MP? -
Hmm, have I put this report in the correct place? I'm not really familiar with bug reporting for ArmA.
-
I would rather see this issue fixed than working around it with custom scripts. It worked totally fine untill 3 days ago, when I updated to 2.10. Only then the hopping started...
-
And another video, showing the issue for disembarking troops:
-
I've made a short video showing the issue: This is with game version 2.10.149799. As you can see the 'helicopter hopping' issue has not been fixed, in fact, update 2.10 introduced the issue for me as I didn't had this issue before. Also as you can see, there are no troops disembarking, but troops are embarking the choppers if that matters.

QuiGon started following AI helicopters 'hopping' when landing
-
The SPOTREP about the current Game Update 2.10 lists this item as fixed: I have not encountered this issue ever before, even though I'm working on a helicopter intense mission over the past few weeks. Now since I have installed the 2.10 update yesterday, I suddenly do have this issue! Helicopters (even empty ones that are supposed to pick up AI units) suddenly come down too early and then hop up again and come down again a few meters away. This often causes the heliopters to crash into obstacles on their first drop down, which happens too early and not at the place where they are supposed to land. So my question is now, why does this issue appear for me, since I installed the update that was supposed to fix it, even though it never appeared to me before? What's gone wrong here?

QuiGon replied to pawelkpl's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yeah, same problem here. I'm also using the A2 preset and I certainly hit "no" when asked after updating, but I can't use LMB anymore to fire my weapon. WTF? -
Tasks disappear after loading save game. Apex and 1.60

I just found this: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T119273 There is a solution mentioned: I will try this later. -

I can confirm this. Same problem here. -
A multiplayer compatible saving system like in ArmA2 is still missing AFAIK, which is necessary for great coop campaigns (or even missions) IMHO.

My perfect ArmA campaign would be a campaign that is something between the Cold War Crisis and the Resistance campaigns with modern presentation (cinematics, voice acting, ...). What i liked about the CWC campaign and would like to see again was: - The setting. I'm a huge "fan" of the Cold War which was one of the reasons why I really liked Flashpoint 1985 ;) - The story and especially the immersion. Following Private (later Lieutenant) Armstrong through the ups and downs of the war was a great experience. Beeing part of an ad-hoc task force to investigate an unkown military threat, discovering what it was, beeing pushed back and getting lost behind enemy lines, fighting with local guerillas, rejoining the NATO forces to hold the ground, turning the tide of war and finally finishing the enemy before the situation gets out of hand was just awesome. - Different roles. I'm usally don't like to play differenct characters, but the CWC campaign is an exception, because there was the main story line with Armstrong and a few smaller ones that showed the conflict from different views which fitted perfectly into the overall campaign. That way it was possible to present all the different aspects of the game, without breaking realism (no super soldier who is tank driving, helicopter flying, air force black op) - Different type of missions. CWC had it all: classic infantry engagements, mechanized missions, guerilla fighting, black ops, tank battles, air warfare, SERE What i liked about the Resistance campaign on top of the CWC campaign was: - Characters with personality. While the CWC characters did have some personality (more than some of the later ArmA campaigns), it went much deeper in Resistance. I will never forget characters like Geronimo, Guba, Gastovski and especially Troska. Great times! - A touching and well written story. - The greatest resistance fighter feeling I've ever experienced in a game! The need to resist (fight) against suppression and the initial reluctance to do so was very convincing and to evolve from a small group of civilians to a battle proven guerilla force by capturing enemy equipment and hitting their weak spots was a great feeling. Of course, this doesn't fit into every campaign, depending on the scenario. What both campaigns had in common was that they were pretty challenging and "military like" gameplay wise. Not some kind of casual "you can't loose" stuff (did anyone say unlimited respawns? ;)). A campaign that does all that (or at least some of that) and makes use of a modern presentation with motion capturing, cutscenes and authentic voice overs would be all I can dream of!

Votes yes. ArmA is still the military sim I love, although I'm a bit concerned that it might not stay that way. There are signs I don't like, that are pointing to a more casual game in the future. But my hopes are still up, that they were just some experiments to attract new players and that we will get more stuff for us core ArmA players in the future (especially campaign wise).

Indeed, it's good to know that the devs are listening at least.

@Zipper5 I also really appreciate your responses and what you say is all reasonable, especially from a business point of view. However, it's not what I hoped to hear, in fact it really worries me. Why? Well, I guess I just don't belong to the player group you try to address with that approach (quick play, easy access). All the points you raised, why you have chosen this approach, don't apply to me, because I play ArmA coop with my friends and the old ArmA2 coop approach suited that way better than the Appex protocol approach. I liked the long missions of the ArmA2 coop campaigns, where you could save like in SP. Having the host to slot and handle save games was not an issue at all, as well as the game beeing "paused" on saving without the clients getting any kind of notification, because the host just communicated to the other player that he was saving. So there are different type of players out there and the way you approached the Apex Protocol campaign specifically adresses the "more casual and younger" player base that like quick and easy playing. For me, that's bad news and I really hope there will be another coop campaign (or other content) in the future, that addresses people like me. For that, the old saving system of ArmA2 needs to come back to ArmA3, because the lack of it also makes it really difficult to create own coop content, because bigger SP-style coop missions are not possible without it. Respawning is something I really can not get along with. I just had to put that out and registered for that very purpose (and because of the new unit features), because it's really bothering me. I play and love the ArmA series since 2002 (OFP back then) and up to this day I'm hoping for a campaign that comes close to the old Cold War Crisis or Resistance campaigns. They managed to really mesmerize me and draw me into it thanks to their great enactment, even with their limited technical possibilities. A campaign like that with coop functionality and modern story telling (cutscenes) is all I can wish for. Sincerely, an old OFP/ArmA veteran
