  1. Hello all!

So I have a really stupid question now but I feel refunding apex was a bad choice as I could not play at all once tanoa got installed severely impacting my FPS.

For now Il rebuy apex once a solution is found. If there is none il sadly have to wait until I get a nice computer then il slap the hell out of that buy button.

So is it possible to actually remove tanoa so I won't deal with a lot of lag and just let it remove the DLC pop ups? I have no problem spending 30$ without tanoa if it removes the DLC pop ups and I could be able to support bohemia as after a few rounds on the editor with me using apex weapons I really do feel bohemia deserves the money but the fact I can't play with apex installed (if its uninstalled no difference) Cause the lag is making me unable to play anything at all.

    Thank you all!

  2. Most of the issues have now been fixed, hopefully... and I wouldnt say new players, but as I said in the "What makes a good campaign" thread, I wanted the prologue to be heavily story based and linear, quite the opposite to what arma should be... but would then open up in the coming missions. Im using the next mission "Kavala" to showcase what I have in store.

I am planning on adding a prologue mission to the prologue, where it would be a tutorial style, boot-camp like experience for new players to the series. But seeing as my campaign follows on from the official Bootcamp, EastWind and Apex protocol campaigns, i dont think its required as i assume you've gained skills from those.

True, A bootcamp wouldn't really be needed for now since the campaign of yours doesnt have any new "mechanics" (Not in a rude way btw, Maybe there is?) Some people might enjoy it for the immersion while others may get ticked off for it.

Oh and thanks for clearing out the issues!

    Cheers!

  3. Thanks for the feedback...

Damn, Escalation is the mission I'm most worried about but requires you to have apex because of the vehicle i think.

and yh "turks" was an oversight, but easily fixable. Glad I haven't started making the next mission as that is a key plot point.

The AAF soldiers at the start of the "part 2" of mission 1 are primarily just ambient units fighting FIA units, the main combat focus for the player is at the LZ.

I did consider wet suits but compromised the speed for the atheistic, but I think I may change that decision. As for the clipping issue, I will fine tune that; that part is made with a hidden chair placed precariously in the rock, so it's a bit dodgy anyway.

And I'll have a look at that floating weapon, thanks for the feedback.

As for the AAf not reacting to the drone, i'll let you in on a little secret, there arent any.... ;) i need to add some ambient ones, but they probably wont react to the drone still.

Ah that's nice that most of the issues are easily fixable! (Hidden chair?? Why haven't I thought of that!)

Yeah about escalation kinda bad that I missed a great mission but I was confused as heck when he said "sorry James" at the next mission XD

About the ambient units that makes sense I guess, this is directed towards new players right?

I guess I could agree with you with the ambient part as it's pretty cool diving and seeing the orange light swirl around the ocean. Loved that part!

Wait what? There wasn't a AAF? No wonder they didn't give a damn when I zipped right pass them! :P

  4. Okay so today i played about all the missions except Escalation (Apparently, I couldn't start it up. Probably cause i had to re-fund apex due to the fact i couldn't run it. Kinda sad i had to do it.) So heres my feedback

SPOILERS: (Could someone tell me the command to put a spoiler? I never used it somehow)

Around the first mission was nicely done, Didn't found any bugs but only a slight error, The 'Turks' is actually not part of C.S.A.T But its the Iranians, Not sure if this was intentional.

First/Second mission in which right after the Nikos briefing part was quite nicely executed and didn't found any bugs other than there is only a couple of A.A.F. Maybe there could be a Zamak transporting a fireteam? A couple of FIA soldiers trying to survive too?

The third one right after Thoronos briefing was done extremely well but the A.A.F somehow didn't reacted at my drone and it takes awhile for the player to swim, How about giving a wetsuit so it wont take a long time? Oh and the cave sequence was very unique and i haven't seen anyone utilized it in a long time, There are some clipping issue with the guy near the skeleton and Miller's gun is floating. Nothing much of an issue :)

Overall its a very neat start for a first campaign and i wish you the best on you future ones!

    Cheers!

  5. Thanks man, appreciate it. I doubt i'll be using Tanoa as it doesn't fit the story-line, but I am using Apex's assets and such. I was careful not to include the statement "underwater combat" and instead used "gameplay", it may work its way into the campaign at a later date though. Still a long way to go.

No problem! That's nice that you won't use tanoa (for me?) I could live with the DLC icons splashing on my screen :)

Ah yes I saw your trailer had only little underwater gameplay but that was pretty clever to use the secret Easter egg! (I'm not gonna spoil it for anyone)

  6. Congratulations on the release Tom! I was closely following your work and I wish you the best with the campaign! (Unfortunately my computer hates apex and I get literal 10-5 FPS on tanoa alone so I couldn't play :( )

Nice job! Loving the fact you made underwater combat which is quite frankly rarely used.

EDIT: Moments before posting I realized it is altis with Tanoan assets... Screw my statement even though I uninstalled apex I'm still going to play it!

    Il post my feedback ASAP!

  7. Not sure about the M81 Woodland camo (which I assume is a texture that BI never got around to finishing), but the Sage Green texture was used as an alternate uniform for the U.S. Army (now 'NATO') faction. I can't recall the exact name, but it used to be called the "SF Combat Fatigues (Green)" or something similar; for instance, one of the pre-Alpha screenshots show them being worn along with IR strobe-less versions of the Light Combat Helmet and Khaki Brown variants of the Carrier Rigs.

Also, there wasn't a traditional Russian faction in the same style of A2's Russian Armed Forces; it was simply a PMC called Raven Security complete with their own insignia (before it got removed in one of the beta patches):

    fS1UOv2.png

Never actually knew that, thank you for sharing! Now that they have PMCs I really don't know why they left the raven vest but not the fatigues.

  8. Although im not really here in 2013 These textures probably indicate that Bohemia was about to implement some sort of Russian faction as they have everything needed except vehicles, Oh and there is a hidden alien if your wondering.

Kind of a shame there is no Russian faction (The uniform also has the AAF pattern in it but with brightness increased. Now before i go overboard im guessing C.S.A.T was gonna be Russia and they will support the AAF but they scrapped it and let it float in our hard drives)

All of those textures have been there since Arma3 Alpha. They are alternative woodland and sage uniforms for NATO and different CSAT stuff that I believe was  some kind of Russian faction..

Several mods already use them-Massi's SOCOM, TRYK and a couple of others that add extra units and factions to the game.

There is a mod that has taken all the unused textures and released them as units-can't think of the name though.

I think the mod is Missing Units? Probably is :)

  9. Early afternoon is bad. Only kids can play, the rest is at work. And kids will offcourse prefer 3rd person and PvP over Good tactical 1.p Coop.

    Also what is KOTH?

Now that's true but not all kids like third person! :P I'm a kid and I personally love the thrill of first person but when I'm in the editor I just use third so I won't get decimated when I just want to see if the AI is doing what I told him to do, When finally finishing the mission I would go on first person and play it.

The advantages 3rd person gives you such as the ability to completely check corners, prone on a rooftop and see an entire town, and check rooms without ever exposing yourself proves 3rd does not give you a FOV close to reality, lol.  You can sit behind any cover, never exposing yourself but have full eyes on the enemy.  Watching any sorta of Arma or Dayz steams and videos using 3rd person clearly shows this.

After switching to 1st Person I'll never go back.  There was an actual thrill with clearing a corner that I didn't already know was clear.

I really don't understand why anyone wants to play on PvP servers with 3rd person as these exploits of 3rd person is involved in every gun fight.

I absolutely agree as when playing KoTh hardcore I was holding the Pygros government complex and was constantly peeking out to kill people with my stolen .SPMG until some guy landed on the roof as I was reloading and killed me, if I had third person I would have already seen him and attempt to take him out/get to cover but would have died anyway :P one of the times I played multiplayer is solely on hardcore servers.

Although it's just my opinion as everyone has different play-styles and that's the beauty of Arma! Allowing third and first person is good for the casual guys who want to have fun while first person is for milsim and hardcore guys, I must admit though I never go to third person when flying as I always crash when doing so which is strange, same with jets.

Going third person In vehicles isn't my type but when in tanks I couldn't see anything and got a headache so I just turned out and exposed myself.

  10. But that DL did not include the "Anniversary Update". That big update have most likely been force fed to you and if the time correlates with the APEX it could be the culprit since some people have various issues after the AU update.

Not saying it is the issue but I would at least check, if you search you will find issues people have  - including loosing complete HD partitions!!!

Forced updates are one of the reasons I never will touch W10 even with a 2 m stick.

    /KC

Oh the anniversary update! I do remember before going outside to shop I closed my laptop and it started updating... So that must be the problem, il go search online and find a solution hopefully!

Thank you for your help! (ATM my FPS is crap around 10 FPS in cities and 20 in tiny towns and 30 in the wilderness.)

Oh! The anniversary update, I do remember shutting down my laptop post apex and it updating! So that must be the problem, il check and tell you what I find.

    Thank you so much!

I should have not update to windows 10 and kept windows 8... Had good FPS when my laptop was brand new.

  12. Since MS forced a big update to all W10 computers past week I would check if it was around the same time you got problem. Lots of people have had issues...

    /KC

Hmm that's strange, I actually downloaded W10 voluntarily months ago and had a FPS boost somehow. It was months ago when windows 10 was released and il usually have steady FPS.

The problem apparently isn't persisting a lot now I'm getting 30-20 when I removed apex but in cities it's a gg on FPS. Also when moving around the editor I'm lagging a lot.

    Thanks for your help!

  13. Absolutely reccomend this mission! Tons of fun, Addictive and also intense! The guerilla warfare aspect is well made. Overall I haven't discovered any issue but il tell one of my expirence in this mission.

So I moved onto Orekastro to Assasinate a FIA traitor, I didn't bring any weapon with me but satchel charges. So I sneaked in with undercover mode. Placed a charge and ran like hell. Needless to say it exploded and some helos began chasing me until I stole a hatchback sport and drove away. Managed to evade the helo but a roadblock was Infront of me... So I hit the pedal and drove like insane crashing through every AAF soldier and ended up dead after I smashed my car at a strider. Woops.

Total fun! One thing I would suggest is for the player to have a balaclava in which the player can take off to remain in undercover mode. Checkpoints also I wish they would stop killing me and maybe inspect the vehicles. If the player has a weapon they will open fire, if the player hides their weapon at the backpack then he is allowed to go.

Nice job! Currently CSAT seems very angry cause I killed the officer and somehow they surrendered after they were the only one left. Awesome!

  14. Just FYI, I uploaded hex-based camo and a kind of "desert multicam" for NATO (all self-made) to my artworks.

That's nice! Gonna check it out :) thanks for your efforts and templates!

Definitely, there's some gold hidden in that thread. There's also a first version of that thread with a smaller, but different selection: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1242734

Thanks for sharing the link, Facepunch definitely is a great source of camouflages! Wish I found it a few months ago...

  15. Not quite as canonical as slatts' stuff, but maybe interesting to you as well:

I'll do more variants if this style suits your (or anybody's) retexturing taste.

That looks quite cool! Not canonical but a great sample texture :)

    Nice job!

So after trying out indeedPetes link i managed to put it on my booniehat but surprisingly it went olive. Definitely needs saturation changes but other than that its a great template!

  16. Has anyone thought of crafting a CTRG dazzle pattern? It has been done twice I think? One with the CTRG units mod and the other one by Resist (I have to stop snooping around at the arsenal :P)

Strange that BI made a wonderful camouflage but didn't release any small sample files (I presume it's easier said than done) Could be pretty neat to have a simple CTRG pattern so maybe some people including me could apply it onto some weapons and boonie hats and create a wonderful spec ops unit!

    Thanks!

  17. Hello, So i noticed you could record movements and firings for jets and helos and i managed to watch a tutorial. However im completely clueless on where do i place the firing recording? At the end of the movement file or at the beginning? This is probably a stupid question but it didnt specify anywhere on where to put it.

Here is a tiny bomb i did.

    [[16.718,"GBU12BombLauncher_Plane_Fighter_03_F"]]

Now i dont know where to place it as my code is full of numbers.

    Thanks!
