  1. Hey yall!
Sorry for the scarce amount of updates lately! Since my vacation is over I have less time on top is that Brent and I work different shifts so when I am up ready to work on the mod he is either sleeping or at work and likewise the other way around.
So that cuts into our time we are still a 2 man team after all. A friend of mine DoMaru has made a web gear rig for the French uniform and might be making one for the German uniform too.
I still have to finish the German uniform also have to re-topo the web gear DoMaru has made.
Brent has put most of our stuff in the game and is working on the Bolt action system and animations for the bolt action rifles also Brent is working on the RV mats to have everything looking dope in the game.
We also have developed our own workflow from Substance painter to Arma 3 which I might write an in-depth tutorial for if any modders are interested in that.
And at last Brent has off this weekend and so do I, have no time today to work on the mod but I have planned the whole Sunday so we can actually start putting some thrust on it again.
I got to be honest, I started to get bored sometimes and just wandered off to play a game if we were stuck at something again so not all the "lack of time" BullSh**te was the main problem.
Hope to give you guys some screens of new stuff or a video on the bolt action this weekend, please don't get your hopes too high because if we ain't make it you will be mad and confused :P

    Piece out!

A U.S. Manual on trench warfare. Of particular relevance are the sections on trench construction and wiring. Diagrams towards the end of the bood show examples of different trench traces, wiring diagrams, and strong-point traces. It does mention a SOS signal rocket of a varying sequence of three colours, which would be an interesting additions. Rather amusingly it also includes games for the soldiers to play.

Just a few things I found through some quick searching. Should come in handy in the future. I assume you have sources for the uniforms and weapons in hand already?

This will come in really handy! Thanks!
For uniforms and weapons we are good yes.

    Most excellent!

A fair bit premature I'm sure, but I found this footage some weeks ago that does quite an excellent job of presenting the interior of the Renault FT.

I really would like to help see this mod come to fruition. While I do not know how to code or model, I do find myself with a great deal of time. If you would like, perhaps I could use that time to find things for you?

Help is always welcome, this certainly will come to help once I start on it!

Unfortunate. I was hoping that there wouldn't be multiple mods coving WW1 like there is for WW2. Gets confusing having five different Mausers all with non interchangeable ammunition. But if such things must be, then they must be.

Besides the point. I would like to inquire if you intend to create your armoured vehicles with full three dimensional interiors. I would most definitely favour this sort of implementation, as it not only captures the essence of the tank, but also permits the view ports to be physical apertures in the armour. This would allow small arms fire to be directed at these vulnerable points, forcing the crew to close them and blind themselves to the outside world. The prospect of this sort of thing excites me greatly. This would be quite the task though, and I fully understand if you feel your time would be better spent elsewhere, than on armoured vehicle interiors.

Yes there will be Interiors for all vehicles, my time could be spend some elsewhere but I could not live with it that the tank would not be having a full 3D interior.

Well, considering that this is revived now. Maybe you could contact the guys behind Over the Top about maybe folding the two together. Not much sense having two two man teams doing the same thing.

We have worked in the past and it did not work out, I have a different vision for my mod with a different level of quality. Their mod is from what I know more of a Port from the A2 Version and I was not planning to have that.

Nope. From "I'm guessing" one of the devs of "Over the Top". Who I'm guessing is Cekis20 on ModDB.

I've been getting the same question for some time now. This massage is directed to everyone; Blood trench is dead. The members have stopped for many reasons. I have personally discussed this with eaglke and the previous leader Helllceaser. Over the top 1914-1918 is the current “active” that are being worked on and so on. We took a “fresh” step since we didn’t have access to bloody trench content and so on.

From This Mod on the Steam Workshop

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=903202945&searchtext=vickers

That message is also somewhat true but I think we have proofed by now that this is not relevant anymore :) I if I may be honest I have never said anything about being dead, just said not working on it atm.

I thought they were the same thing

No not the same thing, Over the top was made for Arma 2 when Eagkle wasnt going to make one for  Arma 3 at that time we decided to start Blood Trench. After sometime working with the guys from over the top we got on the end of the line and kind of failed, so Eaglke decided to create over the top in Arma 3.

Hey Ceaser, since your starting from scratch how will you go about Chemical Warfare, Gas & the like, Delivery systems; Cylinders pouring into no man's land, "Five-nines" shelling, or even the Livens Projecters maybe? and not just the gas itself but defenses like Masks?

I haven't been thinking to such extend, since I am starting from scratch I have done smaller steps not thinking to far outside of my road map.
I know that there will be Chemical Warfare, which mustard gas will be the first.
Delivery systems not sure and have not put to much thought in it, honestly have more been thinking about creating the particle effects and so on. And of course there will be the different kind of gas mask supplied back in World war 1.

Brent had to sign off early today and was not able to finish all the pictures we had in mind releasing today in the article.
I did however put 1 picture up from the rifles, thought they looked cool.

Hey guys, could you guys give me a basis time for when the mod is released or at least in a work in progress stage that we can actually play in?

Welcome to the forums, I know it is against the rules but expect our first build in about 3 a 4 weeks max, might be sooner then you think.

Also stay tuned will release some in game pictures of the assets we got so far, expect the rifles and the different kinds of head gear.
I will put a link in this post once the article is up on ModDB.

  9. Brent has finished the Chasseur Alpin uniform!
    http://www.moddb.com/mods/blood-trench-1914-1918/images/showcase-chasseur-alpin#mediaform

I think it came out really nice! Only the German Jaeger uniform and we have all the assets done planned for our first built.
We are struggling a bit with implementing the assets in game as we are not to good at it, so if you know any one or that any one is you that would like to help out with that please contact me.
It would speed up our progress a lot!

Maybe ya need to devote some effort to a recruitment campaign of sorts to get more help... I don't know, it's 11:30pm and I'm just tiredly throwing ideas in the air! :e::sleep:

I have tried that before and is mostly only attract people that don't have a lot of modding knowledge in general. Two years back that wouldn't be a problem since I didn't know much either but know I am advanced and know so much I probably end up putting more time in teaching and explaining then in creating this mod.

I hope one day we'll see early 20th century navy ships from auxillary troopships to cruiser to even the mighty Dreadnoughts! also I was thinking on how communication could be a thing if working along with TFAR & ACE3; still keep it traditional to the times with crank phones you wind to get the other guys attention, and have breakable phonelines that engineers have to find and fix! OH and how about runners with written messages (could go in inventory under Misc. like the FAKs) Man... milsim stuff based on those 2 things would be SO COOL!!! (and the navy stuff too. I Hope one day I make my own clan based on naval warfare!)

Would be cool indeed but I think that is going to take some time considering our small team :D Maybe in the future.

  12. Sorry for posting so often!
But here is my progress on the French Chasseur unifrom!

Please note that it is not done, it need way more detail but I just want to show you my progress so far.

    Side shot:

    Front shot:

    Rear shot:

And the last shot is with the Adrian helmet:

    Spoiler

So the detailing on the clothing is pretty much done apart from the buttons, I still might tweak it here and there but for now I found it enough to go on and work on the boots and puttees legwraps.
I think on my side this uniform will be done today, then I need to pass it on to Brent for texturing and adding more decals and height information.
Brent probably wont have time to finish that today so no pictures of it being finished today sadly but fingers crossed for tomorrow.
If I finish it before 11 PM my time I will probably move to start working on the German Jaeger alpean uniform.

PS: Tiny pic stopped uploading after some pics so I used Imagur for a few, just incase you are wondering :P

  13. Heyyy sup yall!
Dev blog 2 here! I am planning to do these on regular bases, sometimes on the BI forum and sometimes on ModDB to keep it even between communities.
So we finished the Stahl helm and even more then we thought, as I am typing this Brent is actually texturing the Gewehr 1898 and has already done the wood stock and it looks sweet.
Yesterday evening Brent and I started designing the French uniform and we made some good progress on it we paused it for a bit to start working on the helmets and finish up the G98.
We also have discussed some more on the road map and I hope we can finish it today. The reason it takes a bit longer is because we are making it into a fancy image.
What I can tell is that we are doing it in chapters, so chapter 1 will have 5 content releases which are all named.
    Chapter 1
    Release 1:The Start
    Release 2: No Man's Land
Release 3: Fire In The Hole!
    Release 4: Rapid Fire
    Release 5: Take Command!

And this will be the same for Chapter 2.
The reason we did it like this is to make it easier for us, we are still a 2 man team and cant work on a lot of things at the same time.
The content releases are not always the same amount, I have specifically looked at how much time each release might take and ordered like that. The names has to do with the content that will be released in it which you will have a look at soon.

Also if we would have more man join our dev team we could make the releases bigger and faster obviously so if you know some one or that some one is you please make contact with us if you would like to help and make this mod great again!

    Thanks for reading!

The helmets look beautiful! Are you adding straps later or are they staying like that? It's fine by me either way, chin straps would make them look more realistic but they will look weird in arma :D

I left the straps out yes because I thought it wouldn't add much more to it, I might add the strap like seen Here. But for now I will leave them like this to conserve some time :)

  15. Hey ya'll!
Just a quick little.. dev blog? Update? What ever you prefer to call it.
I have been working on the gewehr 1898 and it is close to done: http://prntscr.com/fdtdsu
Just need to work up the front and same last few details and it should be done.

Brent finished up the German shako yesterday: http://www.moddb.com/mods/blood-trench-1914-1918/images/showcase-shako1#imagebox

I still need to modify some things in the normal map because it had some artifacts on the back which we hide from the render.
Today Brent will start texturing the Stahl helmet and I will finish up the gewehr 1898 and pass it on to Brent.
If that is done we will start designing the French Chasseurs uniform: http://prntscr.com/fdtgx9
While I am doing that Brent should be implementing the two weapons and head gear into the game.

We are close to what we consider as a first "gift" I don't really want to call it a alpha or early alpha release, as we wont release any early alpha or beta since we have a road map in mind which we will follow And release little bits when we feel like its done to give out to the public.
The road map might be revealed on ModDB some time tomorrow or the day after so keep a keen eye!

Thank you for reading this :)
