ArmA 3 stops recognizing joystick as controller

I got a Saitek Cyborg Evo Force on win 8.1 pro 64bit. Controller disappears every time I respawn. 1. Start Arma 3 2. Join KOTH server 3. Fly with a plane or helo 4. Death 5. Respawn and the controller is gone This is very frustrating. DLC Marksmen doesn't fix it.
