Multiplayer - is this a joke?

Recommended Posts

Gents....im gonna shit in your pond right now xD

Do you REALLY want ARMA become something virtually EVERYBODY can master, or do you want to keep the Game´s feeling of having achieved something with mastering it.

Not saying there wasnt room for improvement(mod-handling/dl´ing, jittery movements in mp....) but dont yell too much for dumbing it down at all teensy-winsy-flimsy corners....just to placate your lust for convenience.

This game is after all a MilSim. How long do you think most people have trained and tried and died with Falcon4 ,BlackShark DCS, GTR and such simulators ? ? ?

To me being able to grasp ArmA and its full potential is tantamount to playing this game and therefore I chose the way of getting really intimate with it ( in fact I just read dslyecxi´s excellent shacktack guide ^^ which set the mood for my playingstyle) to understand it and be able to play without being such an obnoxious "someone" thats asking questions all the time...

Use your brains gents, it needs the training as well....

btw...how did you guys learn ta swim or ride a bike....get familiar with it and try and learn or just hop on and be frustrated it wont drive all by itself ?

*End dumping*

Are you honestly saying that you want arma to be non user friendly on purpose? That has to be a joke, i mean, keep the gameplay sim, but don't champion complexity in the multiplayer and mod interface, it just doesn't make any sense. Its actually a spit in the face to the majority of people that struggle with setting up their client. Its the very highest level of elitism i've seen on this forum.

I just stated you all should NOT be too eager to soften the whole game down over the course of years...

Hell if its Elitism....HELL YEAH !

And if you had read my post a bit more carefully you wouldnt have overread my stating of Arma having enormous improvement potential.

;)

well, the mod problem isn't that bad. most server are using ACE2, thats all.

Suggestion for people who have problems to join in Arma2: Download and install ACE2. After, most server are joinable without further problems...

Lol yeh because actually getting ACE2 is easy... servers don't just run ACE2 they run about 20 others addons with it. Plain and simply BI need to sort out how mods work because its not nearly as simple as it should be mainly because for some reason every man and his dog is a modder for the arma series and they just fill the community with crap.

Well, that's not BIS's fault, it's not BIS that runs the servers. The servers you see are people paying to host them or people hosting them from their PC. There are no official servers.

You're spot on there Dice...

wh1sp3r & Dair, you really ought to consider joining a clan who run their own server and help by chipping in with the annual cost. you will get more enjoyment out of the game online, trust me...

For your information it costs the group I'm in £265.08GBP Annually fort a 32 slot server. We are a UK based Clan and currently accepting members, go along to the site http://vbau.co.uk/

Our server runs with no mods so no problems using stock game on it,

have a look see and get your application in if you think it's for you..

Regards.. Paul

That is why your post contradicted itself at every turn, and why it was terribly out of place in this thread. And why I had to say something when you were generalizing all of our opinions and motives. But i guess I generalized yours in turn, so I apologize.

No offence taken there, gentleman.

Everyone´s got an opinion, mine´s just : learn it by yourself and be proud of it ;)

I know the post wasnt so very well logical or precisely worded but still thought the sentiment would come through.

As for the dumbing-the-arma-down thing... I prefer complexity within the simulation itself to the complicated way of making it work. I think I understand what you meant, but the ergonomy of the interface is not something to sacrifice to any idiot of the world.

Learning to swim was hard but I didn't have to make the water behave as a liquid before I stepped into it :).
