Andy-LPGS 10 Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) I'm wondering if BI plans to support GSPs which in turn support a large number of players for OA? We can install Arrowhead for clients on up to 5 Server boxes with each key every 6 months. We have significantly more than 5 server boxes with a significant number of clients whom would like to have their Arrowhead servers. We don't/won't stack multiple Arrowhead servers onto the same boxes for obvious reasons and I really think it would make sense to offer the server executable as there is for ArmA II. I'm a bit peeved with the setup thus far and getting help Maruk as you suggested to try through Sprocket is futile. I have a difficult enough time getting their webpage to load. Also, I would think it's beneficial for BI to be involved in the process of support especially for such a large segmentation. Is there any plan for a windows based server executable soon? Is there any plan to avoid the gross manipulation of the registry that this expansion demands? Is there any plan to support the GSPs to make things considerably smoother for the end users? Is there anywhere we can go to facilitate this and/or to create a mailing list, separate forum, etc. for all GSPs to work together like other games/platforms to benefit all? I don't think it's unrealistic to believe that there are many that host their own servers or have dedicated boxes but there are a substantial number that have leased/rented space to have Arrowhead hosted and expect to receive just that. I've tried multiple PMs, emails, and support tickets with a countless number of representatives from many different varying involved entities and have yet to find anything that ultimately proves to be beneficial to all. I'm hoping this will strike a chord and that the community here can express their concern at the severe limitations this puts on a very large segment of this community. jpinard 10 Posted June 29, 2010 Andy, they are swamped beyond belief right now. Please give them a little time (a week or few) and I'm sure they can get some responses. Right now their priority is fixing bugs in the single player experience, performance, and getting x64 & LMA going... BIS is one of the most amazing companies I've ever seen in regards to support, but they can only do so much at once.
Andy-LPGS 10 Posted June 29, 2010 I'd be more than happy to allot time if they were at least forthcoming with information versus myself being told that there would be server executables in the sprocket download and then there is nothing of the sort. I'd also be patient if I didn't have to inform hundreds of clients that I'm sorry but we cannot provide your server to you as BI hasn't released a viable alternative other than for us to purchase dozens of keys to do this. I've been in contact for more than 2 months with various representatives and was assured the server executable was to be provided. The executable was provided in a client format with drastic limitations to an extent but not to one that was suggested and questioned from our functionality and to assist all the gamers out there wanting their servers. I've contacted Sprocket, I've contacted SecuROM, I've PM'd, emailed, and submitted support requests multiple places with multiple entities and haven't received an iota of information and have decided to come here so that I may have something to point customers to in order to facilitate bringing a server executable that isn't restrictive. I'd also like to stress the importance of getting a semblance of a forum, mailer, etc. for GSP's to have direct and secure contact with the developers to better prepare for updates, new releases, and to provide valuable insight as well. It's simply frustrating that the 1.0.7 release was done and we hadn't had any foresight that it was coming and then the release of OA was a gigantic misrepresentation from the standpoint of the information that we were relayed for well over a month previous to the release. Andy-LPGS 10 Posted July 1, 2010 BI, I love you!!! Thanks for the quick patch out which saved my sanity yesterday! Anyhow, I'd still like to see, discuss, find a way to implement a system for all GSPs to have a bit closer contact and to be involved in beta releases whereas we can all deliver on releases to the community at large. I'll cook up some ideas and forward them via email/pm as well.
