SockMonkeh 10 Posted June 17, 2010 I fired up ARMA 2 yesterday for the first time in a while and suddenly I am having trouble brining up my optics. I am using the default controls, which has optics assigned to Sec Mouse Button and hold breath/zoom/report target assigned to Hold Sec Mouse Button. If I unassign all of those command from Hold Sec Mouse Button, then my optics work fine. However, with the default controls it seems like clicking the Sec Mouse Button does not work reliably. Sometimes I will not bring up my optics, sometimes I will. Often I will notice my view very briefly beginning to zoom in, like the game is getting confused between Sec Mouse Button and Hold Sec Mouse Button. I never used to have this problem. Is this something that's been introduced in a recent patch that I am unaware of? Has anyone else experienced this? It's really ruining it for me. :(
pipscouse 10 Posted June 17, 2010 Same problem here from time to time (usually after playing quite a while). Half fix for me has been to assign left windows key as zoom (easier to reach than number pad) but that doesn't hold breath.
Wolfstriked 11 Posted June 17, 2010 Happens to me all the time. The cure for me was to put optics on "hold second mouse" the same as zoom in.This way you will not have to click once really fast to bring optic up and then hold Rmouse to zoom. You hold Rmouse now and it brings up optics and zooms at same time.Whats good is that you can release it early for less zoom or hold till full zoom is reached.Try it it might work for you. Pipscouse, just put hold breath on left windows key also. You can assign two functions to same key as I have explained above.....hold Rmouse brings up optics and also zooms in. SockMonkeh 10 Posted June 17, 2010 Thanks guys, I ended up just assigning optics to my side button. It think this works better anyway because even when the right mouse button is working properly with the shared functions you always have that slight delay while the game decides if you are clicking or holding. Having optics on the side button means I can snap in and out of optics more rapidly. It's going to take some getting used to, though.

I may be wrong here but wouldn't the problem with that be that zoom would be limited by the breath hold aspect? With key separate I can zoom for long periods on close-up or "iron" sights and then right mouse if I need a steady hand? Happy to hear views on this
Wolfstriked 11 Posted June 18, 2010 Great idea. You could put zoom on space bar as that would be easiest key.
