CaptainChunk 0 Posted June 13, 2010 Hello, I recently changed the refresh rate in my Arma2.cfg file from 60 hz to 75 hz (what my monitor is actually running at) and the editor runs great, frames are up, I'm overall pleased. Then I launch the campaign, and it seems as if the frame rate has actually decreased. Monitor display=1280 x 1024 75hz Computer specs: i5-750 2.6 1 gb Radeon 5850 4gb ddr3 1600mhz ram Settings in game are: Texture Detail: Very High Object Detail, Shadows, Post Processing: Normal, Normal, Low Video Memory: Default Anti-Aliasing: High AF (I think that's what its called) Normal Arma2.cfg settings language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=93750; Resolution_Bpp=32; Resolution_W=1280; Resolution_H=1024; refresh=75; winX=16; winY=32; winW=800; winH=600; winDefW=800; winDefH=600; Render_W=1440; Render_H=900; FSAA=2; postFX=1; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=1063755776; nonlocalVRAM=1869611008; Windowed=0; Any help would be appreciated. Prior to switching to 75hz refresh rate in the cfg, it was 60hz, the game on campaign ran about 28-32 fps, now its around 21-26 fps in Chernogorsk.
no use for a name 0 Posted June 13, 2010 Because the editor is empty; SP missions use AI and scripts that hammer your CPU. Basically, your CPU (actually your MHz) is the chokepoint and slowing the game down
CaptainChunk 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Do others concur that it is my processor slowing things down? I think the game runs pretty well, just not so hot in the city such as Chernogorsk.
ast65 10 Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) No way is your processor slowing things down; try this: - apply latest beta patch - run ArmA 2 with vanilla command line (no parameters set at all (except -beta of course)) - change in your ArmA 2 config: - 3D_Performance=180000 - GPU_MaxFramesAhead=0 - GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=0 - HDRPrecision=32 - Render_W=1280 - Render_H=1024 ...will be running great (basically no difference if playing in wood or city);) Edited June 14, 2010 by @ST
11aTony 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Changing 3D_Performance? What is that anyway?
CaptainChunk 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Thanks, seems to have helped installing beta patch and messing in the Arma2.cfg Though, just like the guy above me, what does the 3d rendering do?
ast65 10 Posted June 15, 2010 Changing 3D_Performance? What is that anyway? tbh, idk, more or less arma2- voodoo:j: (I think the setting is related to "scene complexity" in your arma2- profile)
