IceFire 0 Posted April 19, 2002 I have noticed something in the mission editor. When I am a sniper and lay down prone, I shake ( not the real me, in the GAME). I have not taken any damage as I placed the enemy real far away and they have yet to notice me. I have not run because I am in position as soon as I start the editor scene. I just go prone and look through my sights and my targets are standing 500 yards away. My crosshair keeps on moving around and I find it difficult to put the scope exactly on their heads especially when I use teh Dragonov and need to guess the spot I need to aim with. Is this a bug or something? What do I do about this? I know people say hold down alt, but this will not work when I am trying to line up my shot.

My character is not shaking if he's not tired or injured. I can hit a target without problems. My character is shaking a bit if i'm standing, but i can still hit the target. IceFire 0 Posted April 19, 2002 I'm not saying that I can't hit the target. I still can, I am just saying that it is moving around too much. Like just floating there and moving around alot. It's easier to notice when you are aiming at an enemy 500 yards away and you are using the dragunov.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 19, 2002 first off, the special forces units, black op and spetz natz, handle a sniper rifle a hell of a lot better than the sniper character does. Dont ask me why. Second, hold down ALT on your keyboard to hold your view perfectly still. simply release it to go back to normal.
Major Fubar 0 Posted April 19, 2002 Aculaud, you are a genius. How is it that I've missed such an obvious thing all this time?
RedRogue 0 Posted April 19, 2002 Holding Alt is a bug, and technically an exploit when used in multiplayer. And at range your sight will "float" heatbeat, respiration, various muscle movements thru the body, wind many things will continue to cause the rifle's aim to change. It is physically impossible to hold a rifle dead on target without the sight moving the slightest amount.

dayglow 2 Posted April 19, 2002 The infiltration mod for UT has a 'hold breath feature'. When you press your mouse button to move to the iron sight view, you an hold down the button and in a moment the sight stabalizes as you control your breathing, then you have to let go again in a few seconds or else your scope/sights really shake as you try to hold your breath. Adds a lot of stratigy to the game because you have to intisipate when you need to hold your breath b/c it takes a few moments for the sights to stabalize. Aculaud 0 Posted April 19, 2002 theres something i never thought id hear about. I never thought a game like UT would take a step like that.
second_draw 0 Posted April 20, 2002 I would like to see a feature simulating putting a stand down for the gun, but maybe this is what the alt key does?
Aculaud 0 Posted April 20, 2002 that would certainly be a good explaination for it. But if this was really the case, we would still be able to swivel our view without it shaking

It takes some getting used to aiming via the iron sights, but what I like is no cone fire. The guns shoot where the barrel points, it's just controlling the recoil And there's a new version coming out soon that is adding the SAW and a bunch of features Check it out: http://infiltration.sentrystudios.com/ COLINMAN
Major Fubar 0 Posted April 20, 2002 I believe snipers should get the least reticle wobble of all the characters, I mean come on, it is their specialty.
