max007 10 Posted June 3, 2010 Hi Guys, Please help !!! I was playing Arma2 on my old Athlon PC quite happily until I eventually saved up enough pennies to upgrade. Then my problems began!! I can't play Multiplayer anymore I receive a range of messages before being kicked back to the main server selection page. The most common one is a simple "Session Lost." When I have managed to connect I have been kicked off automatically and even banned on one occasion!. I can't work out if it is Windows 7 (64) causing the problem or does the new 1.5 patch cause the problems? I tried lowering all the settings to medium. I tried reinstalling ARMA2 without the new anti-cheat software and I tried to avoid the 1.5 patch - but my game knew I was hiding something from it and it upgraded on its own!! I updated DirectX and my graphics card drivers. I haven't installed any mods (should I though to be able to play?) and I'm certainly not cheating in any way. I even tried installing on an i7 laptop with 230 card- the same problem! My new PC is an i7 930. Graphics card is an Nvidia 280 (with the latest drivers). I have 6 Gig of RAM. An older game - Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter plays great. I was so pleased to upgrade and now feel very sad! LOL Has anyone else had problems with the 1.5 patch? If I go back to an earlier patch I still won't be able to play online will I as most people seem to be on the latest patch. Please can you help before I pull all my hair out! Thanks guys, Max
Cogar69 10 Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) I bet it will say that something has been deleted. You are being kicked off automatically because you don't have the required Mods. When you constantly join...you could be lagging the server a bit so they will ban you because of you persistence. Does the server have any Mods running...like ACE2 (Are they running ACE on that server) or using Islands like Duala? If you do not know if they are running Mods...download Addon Sync 2009 to check for addons that are needed for joining the server. http://www.yomatools.be/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=26 In most cases you need Battleye and the 1.5 patch otherwise the server won't let you in. The Beta patch is optional. If you are joining a server with a red dot...you won't be able to join...green dots only! Edited June 4, 2010 by Cogar69
max007 10 Posted June 4, 2010 Hi Cogar, Thanks so much for taking the time to help me - much appreciated! I did what you advised - installed Sync 2009. Not sure what to do with it LOL but will read Help tomorrow. I tried running it before running ARMA2. I also reinstalled Battle eye. Not sue if it was needed but I also used the Windows 7 Compatibility menu to run the game as XP. Then I went to a friendly server/ game: Suicidesquad.co.uk Server 2 and attempted Warfare Lite (Benny) Version 2.060 And...It worked :) !!!!!!! Not sure if Sync was needed for this server but something certainly changed and I joined a game just in time to have Arty dropped all over me (Oh joy!) But thanks! I'm obviously a bit new to this and so I wasn't in the loop about where to find Mods - I guess your utility will help me automatically. Just not sure where to start yet?? Anyway, lets hope it works tomorrow too - you made my day, thanks !! Max
Cogar69 10 Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Good to hear! I'm still learning to use Addon Sync myself. ;) And no...you do not need Addon Sync to join any server...it's just a helpful guide. By using Addon Sync...I can see that Suicidesquad.co.uk Server 2 only uses the original(Vanilla) Arma 2 and also the Beta patches(Mods: CA;beta). Although you know how to do all of this...it might help someone else so I'll write it up anyway...Up the top left in Addon Sync is Find Servers tab..click on that then click on Search. When it's finished finding the servers...Click on the Ping tab to find your local server. Pick a server then double click on it. When a smaller window pops up...on the right hand side is Server Info then look at the Mods that can be used and needed if someone changes a mission that utilises these mods. Example: Mods: CA;@cba;@ace;@acex;@ACEX_PLA;@duala CA...is Vanilla(Original) Arma 2 @cba;@ace;@acex;@ACEX_PLA...All are ACE 2 Mod packs: @duala....Is an Island Mod. Also if you want ACE 2...in Addon Sync...click on Favourite Servers...click on Add Server...than add http://folders.ugaf-addons.co.uk/ACE_Server/modreopo.7z in Auto Config URL then click on Import Server. Down the bottom click on Save. There's a tab up near the top with Download Addons. Click that then click Check for addons then Download addons. This will update you to ACE 2 if you want it. I hope this helps you to enjoy Arma 2 more! Ps. I go to 2 different servers and one uses Battleye and the other does not have it. Either way it will/should update Battleye. max007 10 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) OMG I'm sorry but tonight I was back to not being able to play again :( Suicidesquad.co.uk don't have mods but I was thrown back to the main menu for missing an "Apache" file. Weird as last night I was OK. I then tried a couple of others and after AGES of downloading it then said "You were banned." AGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Have mercy on me!!! What now??? Thanks, PS: Thanks Cogar I went through your really helpful notes about how to id mods and the suicidesquad info as an example to start me off. Your notes worked a treat! ARMA2 is downloading all the ACE stuff as we speak. Please forgive a daft question - where do you advise I can get the mods from (just in case it doesn't do it automatically) please? Like Duala for example or the others? I am really new to this so I'm sorry if the Mods are in an obvious place. Hey my wife says I never look for anything properly - like the ketchup !! Thanks for your patience Cogar and anyone else who helps. Max Edited June 6, 2010 by Max007

Thanks, You used the beta patch uninstaller, didn't you? That is known to delete that file along with a few others. Download these and install them to fix that issue.
