I still suck at taking command!

If most people remember I'm the one that has trouble when taking command on OFP, I just basically suck! I suck at the game I suck at everything. MY OWN LIFE SUCKS!!! I need tips on good ways for to make a good team or something quicly before I lose interest in OFP altogether!!

One of the best things I did is get a little program called Game Commander 2. It's a voice recognition software that inputs keystrokes to different commands. The nice thing is that it doesn't need training. It is very good at recognizing your voice right off the bat. I've never had to train a command for it and I use it in a lot of games. From flightsims to action games such as JKII( force powers are much easier to control when you just say what you want instead of searching for a key).

What works for me is to divide my squad up into 2 seperate groups (team white and red) and use them to do a bounding overwatch when moving and to out flank contacts. I have lost a lot less men when I'm able to just bark commands instead of smacking numbers in.

Just because you are not good at a video game doesn't mean that your life sucks. Unless your life is all about video games.

In that case, you need to do something else.

But if that is not the case, which it seems. Just calm down. Hehe, saying that your "Own life sucks" because you cannot command a squad is kinda funny sounding.

The idea about voice commands sounds interesting but I have learned all the shot cut keys now anyway

I have also use bounding and traveling overwatch techniques with squad split into two or three groups.

Other techniques you need to look at are moving to contact and Defensive Arch

Once you can control 12 soldiers you need to consider moving on to multiple section, platoon and eventualy company tactics

Company tactics include indirect fire weapons, defense in depth, moving reserves etc

If you want to do these in OFP you need to use Spinors command engine or something similar.

I have written a mission where you directly control nearly a hundred soldiers plus artilery and helocopter strikes using it

Mr. Walker, some of your info on SUT is tactically inaccurate. I suggest you read FM 7-8, Ranger Handbook, an possibly STP 31-18-SM-TG. Obviously the tactics aren't American, but hey nobody's perfect.

I wouldn't advise moving multiple fire teams in seperate wedges next to each other. It prevents any volume of fire from being put out into the flanks. You will always assault an objective online. Shift fire! When you send a flanking team in do not stop supressive fire, shift fire to aviod fratricide, enemy will still think you are shooting at them, gives assault team a chance to get on the objective. Deploy, supress, report. Keep enfilade on objective. *Sigh*, I could write entire book about this... Tactics change for ambushes. OCOKA ..etc... If you wanna flame me go ahead, this info is straight out of 7-8, and I am an infantryman.

For Sgt. Armstrong, all I can say is practice, keep your troops and yourself low to the ground, and know when to break contact.

And: practice in the editor or in a single player mission to get a feel for it. Try to learn the commands so you can give orders quickly during a battle. For instance "All, hold fire"

I bow to you obviously superior knowledge but I just checked my post and I did not metion any of MY TACTICS

I have never to my knowledge written any instruction manual on tactics.

I pointed SGT. Armstrong to a basic text on tactics that was available online (not I hasten to add written by me) and told him to do a search on a couple of key phrases.

I could have pointed him to the relavent MCWP or its equivalent in the British Army but they are too complex for a someone who is learning.

As to american tactics the american military has done a great deal of work formalizing and systematizing strategy and tactics.
