75th-VFS-Striker 10 Posted April 8, 2010 When playing in a large group with re-spawn on when the human group leader is killed, no one from our group gets command position back or takes command of the squad. Is this a function of each individual mission or is it a global feature of the game now? If so, is there a way to make it like original OFP or ARMA?
hund 0 Posted April 8, 2010 We have had similar problems when no-one knows that the leader is dead. Try right clicking/revealing the dead leader so he comes up as dead to the game. That might be the problem.
75th-VFS-Striker 10 Posted April 8, 2010 I guess I don't understand what you mean. Is there a menu option for doing this or can you give me more details on what function you are describing?
hund 0 Posted April 9, 2010 when someone in your group dies, you don't get that information until the game tells you that you know that the dude is dead. The usual way of finding out what is going on around you is to look at something and right click, if default keys are used, that will reveal what is in your sights right now. if nothing of interest is there, you won't get anything, but if something interesting is there (like a dead dude that you didn't know about before), the game will go "Oh..NO, THREE is DEAD" in a stephen hawkins kinda way. In OFP/Arma1 you would know that immediately if you were in the same group as the dead guy, but in Arma2 you have to discover that he is dead manually. This may take some close inspecting for the game to recognize what you already know, and then give you command of the team (if the dead guy was leading and you're next up). At least that is how I remember it, I might be wrong (50-50 chance). The end result though, is that you can mess up the pacing of the game quite badly when the leader gets hit and command is not transferred - even to the point of taking additional casualties because you weren't able to take over and save the Ai from themselves. EDIT: If you are in command of a group and some people get wacked, press ALL-5-5 and you should get an updated roster for your group (ALL being the "½" or "tilde" key on my keyboard). 75th-VFS-Striker 10 Posted April 9, 2010 Man, that's excellent information. Yeah, obviously it's a big change from ARMAI. I really appreciate your response and clarification! Thank you!
