Aculaud 0 Posted April 13, 2002 I really feel its time we invented the longer lasting lightbulb, so to speak, as far as artillery scripts go. I have tried a lot of peoples scripts, all of which i feel are inadiquate (No offense). I feel they're inadiquate because of a lot of things. Lots of them use tank shells, which spread out too far, and arent powerful enough to really do the job. And others are meant for far too specific scenarios to be used in just any mission. We need a script thats basic enough to be used in any situation, and strong enough to actually ge the job done, and somehow be as realistic as possible at the same time. Iv been experimenting with the camcreate command and laser guided bombs, and i like what i see. The laser guided bomb is powerful enough to cover an area effectively, and is still a falling weapon similar to tank shells. Iv been having problems with my current system, because it relies on specific units to be there for the bombs to be created (they are created over them). I was thinking more of a system where maybe 3 or 4 laser guided bombs fall in random positions over an area designated by how big the trigger is or something to that extent. Aculaud 0 Posted April 13, 2002 I should also tell you i had one breakthrough with this. My system works like this. When you identify the units you will call in artillery on, it adds an action to your in game menu to exicute a script that simulates artillery on the units specified. Aculaud 0 Posted April 13, 2002 well, iv also tried using Mavericks starting at 0 meters high so they blow up right away, and just use a time delay in the script. And then i tried using satchel charges on timers. See, we're at a lack of a good medium explosive, mavericks being low and laser guided bombs being high. All the scripts iv tried are too weak. even one or two laser guided bombs falling randomly in a small area would do the trick. The thing i'm looking to change most is effectiveness. Aculaud 0 Posted April 13, 2002 since version 1.30 and ultimate upgrade 3, west has a new A10 plane. One that drops laser guided bombs. The bombs are guided by either the laser target designater on the kiowa helicopter, or the laser target designater that a certain black op day unit carries. They are very powerful. I took out 20 abrams with one of them. Its quite a challenge to get them to work accurately, but with practice, they can be VERY effective. Keeping in mind, i'm looking to make a script here still!
